23-49. December is Calling.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from December 5th

It’s that joyful time of year again—December has arrived, bringing with it a whirlwind of festive cheer and excitement! Everywhere you look, the spirit of Christmas is in full swing. The streets and shops are bustling with people eagerly engaged in their holiday shopping, each person hunting for the perfect gifts to surprise their loved ones. Kitchens are alive with the delightful aromas of baking, as families and friends come together to create delicious treats and share cherished recipes.

In the midst of all this, we’re also wrapping up important tasks. Businesses are busy closing out the year, finalizing projects, and setting the stage for a prosperous new year. Parents are proudly watching their children complete another successful school year, reflecting on the growth and achievements made.

And then, amidst all this delightful chaos, there’s the balancing act we all perform—juggling the demands of daily life with the added excitement and responsibilities of the holiday season. It’s a hectic time, but it’s filled with joy, warmth, and the priceless opportunity to create lasting memories with those we hold dear.

I am Celebrating two daughters’ birthdays around Christmas and it certainly adds an extra layer of excitement and joy to our December! It’s wonderful to embrace this bustling time with such a positive spirit. Balancing their special days with the Christmas festivities is indeed a unique challenge, but we can handle it with care and love.

Ensuring that each daughter feels special on her birthday is crucial, especially when it’s so close to Christmas. It’s important to separate their birthday gifts from Christmas presents, so each occasion feels distinct and equally celebrated. This thoughtful approach shows that the birthday their special days matters to us.

To manage the financial and emotional aspects of this busy season, it’s helpful to plan ahead. Budgeting for gifts and celebrations in advance can ease the financial strain. Maybe consider setting aside a separate budget for each daughter’s birthday and Christmas, so you can track expenses more effectively.

To avoid burnout, remember to take some time for yourself amidst the preparations. Self-care is vital during busy times like these. Delegate tasks where you can, and don’t hesitate to simplify plans if it helps maintain your well-being and enjoyment of the season. Think Pot-Luck dishes, they are so much fun.

I often speak of loneliness on my shows, especially during the holiday season. Loneliness can indeed have a profound impact on individuals, and your effort to bring awareness and support to those who might be feeling isolated or forgotten is commendable to any and all of you.

There are several ways you can reach out and make a difference:

  1. Community Events: Organizing or participating in community events that are specifically designed to include those who might be alone during the holidays can be a great way to show you care. This could be a communal meal, a holiday concert, or a simple get-together.
  2. Volunteering: Offering your time at shelters, soup kitchens, or senior centers can have a big impact. It’s not just about the physical help but also about showing those who are alone that they are valued and remembered.
  3. Outreach Programs: Working with local charities and organizations to create outreach programs for the homeless or those living alone can help bring warmth and companionship to their lives. This could include delivering holiday meals, care packages, or personal notes.
  4. Media Platform: Since you’ve mentioned doing shows on the subject, using your media platform to discuss the issue of loneliness during the holidays can raise awareness. You can share stories, provide resources, and encourage listeners to reach out in their communities.
  5. Personal Gestures: Sometimes, a small personal gesture can make a big difference. This could be as simple as visiting a neighbor, sending a card, or making a phone call to someone who might be spending the holidays alone.

Remember, the key is to show genuine care and make a heartfelt connection. Even the smallest act of kindness can bring a great deal of comfort and joy to someone who is feeling isolated.

Let’s embrace this festive season with open arms, cherishing each moment, and spreading the joy and love that this time of year is all about. Happy December!

Here’s to a delightful and memorable December filled with birthday cakes, Christmas cheer, and lots of love!
