C21-07 THORN CASTILLO Becoming an Actor.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest THORN CASTILLO, on air from February 16th

In 2019, just as his multi-faceted career was taking off, Thorn Castillo heard Robert Downey Jr. offer a sage bit of advice during an interview on photographer/director Sam Jones’ acclaimed multi-platform series “Off Camera.” The two-time Oscar nominee said something to the effect of “any type of work you can put on your resume is good.”

This perfectly aligns with Thorn’s growing list of credits over the past year and a half plus, as the Northern Virginia based actor became a featured background performer as a mischievous ice throwing teen in Patty Jenkins’ upcoming film Wonder Woman 1984 (pretty cool stuff for a guy in his mid-20s!) and became SAG-eligible with his first regional commercial for Toyota.

These appearances coincide with Thorn’s major breakthrough as the face of a new international brand campaign for Schick Stylist, an all-in-one grooming tool by the famous razor company that allows users to shave, trim and edge facial hair to customize their look. Thorn’s youthful, hipster look was perfect for a campaign featuring numerous photo advertisements and videos showing how to use the product. In addition to continuing to pursue his television and film ambitions, his success in this role primes him for more high level, GQ level modeling work in the future.

He launched his career with a busy slate of projects in 2018 – including featured extra parts on the TV series “Bride Killa” and “Copycat Killers,” advertisement projects for Georgetown University Hospital and the local watch brand Eone Watches and a live casino photo shoot in Maryland.

Thorn attributes his comfort and confidence in front of a camera and his developing skills as an actor to his ongoing studies under the guidance of master on-camera acting coach John Palotta in NYC and Philadelphia. Connecting with Palotta on the professional networking community DragonukConnects, Thorn audited two classes in Philly in December 2018 and signed up to be a full-time student shortly thereafter, taking classes in Philadelphia and Baltimore. Palotta helped Thorn create a professional reel and a website for his acting and modeling endeavors. Thorn considers his ongoing mentor-student relationship with Palotta essential.

Prior to his work with Palotta, Thorn took several acting classes at Northern Virginia Community College and studied improvisation, intermediate acting and acting for the camera with veteran actor, author and teacher Brenna McDonough Wolfe at Theatre Lab in Washington DC and the Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Born in Upstate New York (Mt. Kisco), Thorn grew up the only child of parents who owned horses and traveled for horse shows throughout the U.S. and Mexico. He turned a year old in Mexico and also lived in Florida, Tennessee and other parts of New York State before the family settled in Northern Virginia. Living most of his life there with a single mom after his dad left, Thorn has fond memories of being a little kid at a store in Middleburg, goofing off in front of the security camera and pretending he was the star of an action movie. He was a shy loner type, immersing in comic books and video games while always wishing he could be more social and part of the crowd.

While he admired comic actors like Kevin Hart and Jim Parsons and identified with his favorite superheroes Batman and Spiderman, one of his top role models was singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, who overcame being a bullied loner to become an international superstar. To try to fit in, Thorn went through a goth punk, metal and rock phase in his mid-teens before embracing his truer self later on, moving from a mohawk and spike bracelets to dressing more preppy.

“I started acting because I was fascinated with TV and film, and always liked playing roles and pretending to make different worlds come to life since I was a little kid,” he says. “But for years I never thought I was good enough, so I drifted away frompursuing that career. But later, I learned to have more confidence in myself. It helped that family and friends told me I do have talent, especially my mom, who has always encouraged me.

“So finally, I went for what I really love doing and now my goals as an actor and model are making a living out of what I always really liked doing, including creating and bringing fictional characters to life,” Thorn adds. “I really enjoy those experiences where I get up at 5:00 am to be on set and get ready to go film all day, then get home at 9:30 have dinner and go to bed by 10:30 and do it all over again for 3 weeks. It’s also been a blast traveling to places I had never been for shoots. I know it’s often a difficult industry to make it in, and I’m grateful for any success I have achieved so far and am able to in the future. The work I’ve done so far has given me some of the most fulfilling moments of my life.”

C21-07 Danny Winn is Loving Acting

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Danny Winn, on air from February 16th

Just as Danny Winn’s whirlwind acting career was starting to explode in 2015, he met veteran director Rich Sickler on the set of WGN America’s “Manhattan” series, in which he appeared in five episodes, four as “Scientist Brock,” one as a state trooper. Sickler offered some sage advice about the prospects of success daring to enter the film industry at a more mature age than many of his peers: “So many are striving to get in at a young age, but as they mature, they start dropping out and pursuing other paths. So as a mature actor, there’s less competition aside from the small percentage of those young actors who made it.”

The El Paso, TX born actor – who attributes his passion for diverse roles partly to growing up a military brat raised in three tropical regions, including Hawaii, Key West and the atoll of Kwajalein in the Pacific – didn’t name his film production company Dare to Dream by chance. Over the past few years, the former general contractor, who wound down his successful construction company to pursue his cinematic goals full-time, has been the living embodiment of his friend’s words, with close to 30 credits and films on his ever-bustling schedule through 2022.

A true inspiration for anyone who has ever wondered if it’s too late to pursue their creative dreams, Danny’s doing so well that he’s already in a position to help others pursue opportunities and achieve success in the film industry. In 2019, the year he had the privilege of playing the much-revered American WWII General Douglas MacArthur in the Japanese historical TV miniseries “Idaten: Tokyo Olympics Story,” he launched the Danny Winn Master Class: Acting From A to Z, helping aspiring and working actors of all ages in the region develop their natural gifts, and learn the “do’s and don’ts” and use their passion to take their game to the next level.

“I also teach the intangibles that all actors hoping to work in film need to know, like keeping a positive attitude and mastering the art of self-promotion,” says Danny, who considers himself an “instinctual method actor” who prefers letting the moment flow creatively to over-rehearsing. “Another key that surprises some people is ‘Don’t rely totally on agents.’ I’ve only acquired a small percentage of my roles via my agents. The rest has been the eat, sleep, and breathe manner with which I treat this profession, continuing to get my name and reel out there and searching for gigs myself. To be successful, you need raw talent and that cannot be taught. But the rest is all about perseverance, the effort you put forth and that optimistic outlook.”

Driven by that upbeat attitude and the inspiring work ethic which made him thrive in his previous professional lives, Danny’s been an unstoppable creative force since “catching the acting bug” on the set of the NBC medical drama “The Night Shift” despite wearing fire gear for 16 hours for his one-line role and stunt as “Fireman #27.” He has worked alongside the likes of Denzel Washington, Chris Pratte, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Matthew McConaughey, C. Thomas Howell, Luke Arnold, Viva Blanca, Richard Riehle, MC Gainey and many others.

Among Danny’s favorite roles are his turns as a campaign contributor on the Epix comedy series “Graves,” with Nick Nolte and Sela Ward (2016); his lead role as Priest Paul in the supernatural thriller “The Crossbreed”; the key character of “Happy Jim” in the true-life Western “Deadman Standing”; and Skippy Brewster in the film “Lapham Rising,” which stars Bobby Cannavale, Stockard Channing and the iconic Frank Langella, whom Winn shared his dialogue with.

Not even COVID-19 can slow Danny’s output and the ongoing desire to expand his scope of deep, challenging and impactful roles. He has been cast as career military man Tom Harris in the futuristic sci fi drama “The Enemy Is Coming,” which is slated to film in Sydney in March 2021; the producer is Tony Lynch of Legend Studios in Australia, and the writer/creator is Mark Eder. The actor is also attached as lead to three upcoming Westerns, including “10 Gunfights,” “Back to Billy” and “30 Seconds in Hell.” He was also recently cast in the lead role of Kenny Lyle, a hitman in a dark comedy film tentatively titled “The Bleeding Edge,” described as “Pulp Fiction meets Mayhem.” It is slated to film in the late summer and fall of 2021 for release in Spring 2022.

One of the more notable links on Danny’s multi-media website is the page for his production company Dare To Dream Films, which he launched out of a desire to control his own creative destiny and, on any individual project, the important processes of casting, filming, distribution and festival submission as well as keeping the story true to its original integrity and form. Its past productions have included “The Crossbreed” and “Deadman Standing,” and its upcoming projects are listed as “My Dearest Jane, “Oneida Flats, “Barren” and “Tree Secrets.” A separate web page is dedicated to “Tree Secrets,” a magical fantasy adventure that explores the bonds of family and the magic that can touch lives generations apart. It is slated to film in Spring 2021 with plans for submission to Sundance and theatrical release.

Danny stars in and serves as executive producer on “My Dearest Jane,” “Oneida Flats,”, “Barren” and “Tree Secrets,” which are written and co-produced by Maria Harrison. Impressed with his previous work, Harrison contacted Danny several months ago with the choice of lead role picks in the films. After Danny spoke with Maria, she and her group asked if he would executive-produce the films, harbor the stories to completion and bring talented actors he knew into the mix. This quickly evolved into his desire to create his own production company, many of whose projects will feature a close-knit group of actors (including Danny’s friend Jamie Bernadette) and behind-the-scenes talent and crew.

“One of the reasons behind the name Dare to Dream is that it applies to the organic, unstudied way I have approached and found success in every previous endeavor in my life,” Danny says. “Throughout my life, every time someone would say I couldn’t do something, I would prove them wrong. In my early 20s, I had a business in Dallas refinishing bathtubs, sinks and tile and Motel 6 offered me a $350,000 contract to finish all their fiberglass shower stalls. People thought I couldn’t do it, or even get the loan for it, but I did. Later, as a builder, despite the naysayers, I evolved from doing smaller projects to larger homes, remodels, boutique hotels and commercial developments. I was even one of the first builders to construct straw bale construction in New Mexico.

“There are some parallels to my acting,” he adds. “When I was designing a remodel, I would draw up the plans based on the vision I create in my mind, following it from my subconscious mind to fruition. Likewise, when I’m on set, I am so focused on executing the way I’ve developed the scene in my mind that I sometimes don’t even see or hear the 75 crew members working around me before and between takes. I simply become so immersed in the role and scene. As glamorous as people think it is at times, success only happens through dedication and hard work. I’ve always said, life is a constant struggle. Once you realize that it’s a rat race and full of hardships, it becomes a heck of a lot more enjoyable and keeps getting better.”

IG21-07 Leslie Marsh. Whose Talk Are You Walking? Is it yours?

Ignite your heart and soul with Sara Troy and her guest Leslie Marsh, on air from February 16th

Whose Talk Are You Walking? Is it yours? We can inherit stories that push our own out of reach. We are then weaving a cloth of limitations with the threads of the expectations and fears of others. What about our own stories? What if we became the authors of our own story. What if we wove the design of our lives?

21-07. The Year of the OX 2021

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from February 12

East: Feb. 12, 2021 — Jan. 31, 2022

I’m here to fix and stabilize
To help heal and lay the foundation
For unification and one for all
I will sort through the chaos
Fortify and protect our values
And assess and speak the truth
My mission is to reverse the damage
Bring integrity to the forefront
Implement justice, law and order
And deliver equality and freedom.
I AM THE OX

The Ox (that heralds the lunar new year, which is Feb. 12 this year) believes in prosperity, but only if acquired through hard work, integrity and fair play. He is methodical, patient and a team player. He surrounds himself with the best of the best and plays no favouritism to those trying to buy their way into his circle. The Ox sees clearly and stays focused on the result. He believes in a code of ethics and is reliable, devoted and determined to do what’s right. He takes his position seriously and considers having the trust of others an honour.

The year ahead will be one of change, innovation and a reversal from the industrial path we have been on for so long into the age of high-tech alternatives that encourage a humanitarian lifestyle. It’s a time for new beginnings, as the old way of doing things is banished for a cleaner, versatile choice.

It’s time to be inventive, intervene, get involved, reassess and reclaim what’s best for the planet and its inhabitants. It’s time to stop letting greed take over, and focus on leaving our children and generations to come with a healthy environment in which to live. The youth will offer greater insight and be eager to enforce what’s necessary and put an end to any who try to hold on to old unfriendly ways. The tug-of-war isn’t over, but the numbers and percentages are changing, and if we are to survive, it’s essential to do our part to appease Mother Nature.

The Ox year will push to improve life and emphasize how our diversity makes us stronger and better when we work together.

Tradition will remain a mainstay, but it will have its place. A shift in politics will encourage a united front and be the objective and necessary for our survival. Mother Nature will be watching closely to determine whether the human race is entitled to another chance to be in charge.

Those who will do well during the year of the Ox will be those open to conscious change. Those willing to fight for peace, coupled with the Ox’s strong will to ensure freedom, will help lead to a better future. Be brave, be safe, be well.

Budda called on all of the animals to come to him and here are those that came and their meaninig.

OX Year of Birth: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021

Then came the Ox, 2009 prosperous through fortitude and hard work, the Ox is dependable, calm methodical and stubborn. Many Ox ‘s hold positions of power and their fairness holds them in good stead. They like order, respect, tradition, and are predictable and honest. Alas in love the Ox does not quite know how to respond to romance but when they like you they will stand by you, loyally, but also may take a long time to commit, be patience they are solid people and worth waiting for. Although they have a lot of patience do not try it on to much, because when they lose it, it will be a terrifying experience. The rooster seems to understand the Ox best and the Goat and Tiger will not get along well at all. Give them time to their stuff; it is worth waiting for the results.

Recent years of the Tiger are: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022

Now comes the Tiger. (2010) Powerful, passionate, rebellious and unpredictable. The Tiger is our fearless fighter, and people hold them in awe. They love the limelight and their dynamic personality can open many doors. They live life as if it is their center stage, and people around them are there to enhance the play. With their charisma, they get away with lots and can talk others into doing things for them just because they are tigers. They have a very human side showing love and affection for babies and animals. As a lover when they love they love 100% for that moment till their attention is directed elsewhere, to sustain their attention you must give them a lot of attention. They live purely on impulse and rebellion on tradition. Logic is not their thing. The song by Carle Simon, “you’re so vain you probably think this song is about you”. May have been written for the tiger. However, the tiger who can be warm loving and great with kids can also be a child themselves if they do not get their way. For all this, the tiger is a formidable foe and one to definitely have in your court.

Rabbit Years of birth: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023

RabbitYears of birth: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023

The Rabbit (2011) is said to have a long life, the rabbit is gracious kind sensitive, and has good manners. They look for tranuillity but are also inclined to be moody. They appear indifferent and generally hold academic positions. Although they appear to be detached they hold much criticism inside. Good at business and smooth negotiations will ensure a good career. In love, their self-assurance requires them to marry for position and security but will give all they have to give in love. Reserved artistic and good at business, the rabbit with their smooth negotiations will ensure any career they choose. Liking harmony, the rabbit does not understand why people are so nasty to each other. Although do not mistake this, the rabbit will get the contract signed, but by courtesy, consideration, and patience, you will not even be aware of it until you have signed on the dotted line. This does not mean that they are deceitful, but rather that they are clever.

 Dragon Years of Birth: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024

  • The Fiery Dragon (2012) a very lucky sign and one in which many children are born, (including one of my daughters). Magical and imaginative the dragon is full of vitality and strength. They have very high ideals and command high standards from others as well as themselves. Do not challenge the dragon you will find them very opposing and do not hurt the ones they love or anger them or you will sorely regret it. On the other hand, they do not like defeat and can be a sore loser. If they like you, you will forever have a protector and a friend, and as a lover they take adulation for granted, knowing that they are well liked so therefore well loved. If they choose you for a mate, (and this sign is also quite happy to not to marry and just have good friends,) they will protect, lecture and support you forever. Dragons do not tolerate fools or deceitful people and their wrath can be very imposing. They are good with money, easy come easy go and prefer to live in a relaxed environment. Somewhat leaders by nature, they will only want the job if they are interested. Funny and liking a good time, a dragon is good at a party and is very adventuress.

Snake Years of Birth: …1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025…

The forever-misunderstood Snake (2013) is a deep thinker, always looking for the meaning of life. Generally mystical with a lot of natural wisdom, the snake loves books, food, music and the fine things in life. Using their own judgment rather than others, they like their own advice. Superstitious and a little intense they like to settle scores. The snakes wish to control their own lives through power and authority. They can be victims of their past and have a hard time moving on with life. Elegant, in speech, dress, and manners, but suspicious in nature, the snake distrusts anyone who breaks a promise. In love, their mystique and cool ambivalence draws lovers to them with ease, and will only marry someone who shares their ambition. Striving for the top the snake can talk themselves out of things because they are inclined to think it over and over again. They love the detail and wish for things to be in order before moving on with it. Although looked upon with fear, the snake invulnerable and is only dangerous when it is fearful. Wishing to just be understood and respected the snake is harmless. Unless—-

Horse Years of Birth: …1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026…

Enter the Horse (2014) the best year in my mind, as I am a horse myself. Cheerful, popular, quick-witted and earthy. The horse falls in and out of love easily. However, they are perceptive, talkative and have an ability to handle a difficult situation well and with authority. They are magnetic and commanding which can be presided as militant and aggressive at times although this is not so. Impetuous, energetic, and a flashy dresser. The horse although a non-conformist can be relied on to be accountable and honest. The horse will always be there for the underdog and has an ability to see both sides and council each of them well. Demanding a great deal from fellow workers they can and will just as eagerly work by your side as long as you know that they are the boss. Horses love freedom and pursue happiness at every corner. Being a person that feels their way around and who is constantly changing to the environment, they feel deeply and can be perceived as being moody, they are just adjustable people. They cannot keep regular hours and are best suited to flexible but demanding jobs, it is all or nothing. Very friendly and a true lover, do not let them down, they will forgive but never forget. They are protective of their loved ones and love with all their hearts, they like the home homey and love to run a little wild too. As friends, the horses will be by your side through anything, but if you betray them, you will be forgiven but forgotten too.

Year of Birth: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027

This is where the Goat comes in the sequence

The graceful Sheep/ Goat (2015) who is righteous, sincere and a sucker for sad stories. They are fashionable, artistic and creative but can be depressed and withdrawn. They are homebodies, liking children and needing to be needed. Luck favours them and their peaceful nature draws people to them. Unfortunately, the sheep/goat instead of standing up for their rights is timid and is more inclined to sulk rather than demand. Straight to the point is not their way and they wish you to find out what is bothering them rather than they tell you. Martyrs and worriers they are pessimistic about life and are inclined to look to the worst rather than the best of things. Romantic by nature, they wished to be pursued and fought for, the sheep need to be in a respectful loving marriage to survive, secure in life love and mind. They have their favourites and if you’re not one of them do not take offence that is just the way it is. Neither forgiving nor forgetting is something they do easily, so don’t hurt them.

Year of Birth of the Monkey :  1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028…

The mischievous Monkey (2016) is innovative, improviser, and a motivator. The monkey is most like man himself. Whatever they choose to do the monkey will succeed, no challenge is to great a chore, and they have the ability to use their intelligence when it is most needed. However, they do not respect others well as they have too much respect for themselves. Very competitive, confident and cocky the monkey has been known to use his cunning powers to get their way. They are very sociable and can hold positions of high power. Very self-absorbed the monkey is not a giver for giving sake, in love the monkey will be warm and spontaneous, but be prepared to work hard and always strive for better, love in its self is not enough, ambition is indeed the forever attraction. Whatever you do, never try to trick a monkey they will have the last word, and watch them carefully they are masters of trickery. Fun can be had with a monkey if you like a little mischief or mayhem.

Rooster 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, and 2029.

Wake up to the Rooster. (2017) Has self-assurance and is old-fashioned. They are generally very attractive people, who are acute neat organized decisive upright alert and direct. They can also be argumentative and a little cruel to others, they love to lord over other with their imposing knowledge. High perform ring roosters seek opportunities to excel at anything, and if you try to challenge their knowledge you are in for a long haul, roosters do their homework and know their stuff. Do not be around when a rooster is negative, they are egotistical opinionated and very abrasive, you will come out reeling from the experience. They are very good at handling money, accountants banking and finances. Roosters will follow orders to a T, and they are very good detailed people and, accountable with your interest at heart. All roosters are a perfectionist, with a sharp eye for details, but if they think that they are right about something, they may close their mind to any other input. They are excellent right-hand men but sway away from the front line, as they do not have the public personality or patience that is needed to be up front. Roosters love praise and are allergic to criticism; they make a good spouse and a good family person, just as long as they are the boss. For all that steadfastness, they are very vulnerable but will fight showing it.

Years of the Dog: …1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030…

The likable Dog (2018) (another of my children) is honest, intelligent and direct. They are the most loyal and trustworthy of creatures and have much passion for Just as and fair play. Dogs are friends to all people and are fair listeners meeting people halfway. Dogs will look out for everyone no matter what but is inclined to neglect their own self and leave themselves vulnerable. The dog has a great understanding of humans and instinctively knows the right from wrong, who to believe and who to be wary of. When a dog loves, it is with all its heart and loyalty, this is often taken advantage of and the dog often gets hurt. Forgiveness is strong and even if they move on they will remember the once loved one fondly. Do not push the dog into a corner, they will instinctively come out fighting in any which way. In love, the dog likes to get to know their suitor slowly as trust is an issue, but once trust is in place, they will encourage growth in their loved ones and equilibrium in their lives. As it is with children the dog will act like a playful puppy when young, and will take the time to learn the ways of the world, but what is nice is that they will never lose their playfulness. All in all a dog is a very good person to have in your life in any way.

Years of the Pig: 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031

The steadfast Pig (2019) is, of all the signs, one of honesty and of real genuine person. The pig is the ultimate diplomat, balancing both sides and keeping the peace. The pig is those people that make everything happen with ease so as you do not notice it even happening, but notice if they are not there. They socialize very well and like to be in the company of up and coming people, though they prefer to watch from a distance. Excellent in the line of fundraising and social work, the pig does not mind being truly committed to the cause. The pig is a little too trusting and allows themselves to be exploited by others without knowing it. In love, the pig is devoted and does everything for their loved ones except perhaps discipline them well, as they do not like confrontation. The pig is unselfish and caring and is very good to have as a friend if their motives are not interfering or judgmental.

Rat years: …1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020…2032

First came the Rat, (1997) with its charm and innovative personality the rat uses it’s wit and intelligence and has been known to be crafty, forthright and an excellent businessman/woman, who is always alert to new opportunities. The rat is much underestimated, due to the very fact that it is a rat. They are very intuitive gregarious and smart people who will use their charm and smarts to get them to the top. Never underestimate them, they do not miss a thing and remember a lot. Whereas the tiger, horse, and others are on the forefront, the rat does not mind taking the back stairs to get where they are going. They know they will get there and are not afraid to give someone else the limelight.

Having had experiences with all of the signs, I have to say there is a lot in it. We take on the characters of the animals and unknowingly become them. I also believe that the “True Colours”, Zodiac and ‘numerology” plays a big part in it too. The Chinese take this all very seriously. This year, FEBRUARY 12TH is Chinese New Year’s Eve, and it is welcomed with feasting and socialization. There are parades, and the Dragons and the Lions performing for money, reflecting the old times when they used to give protection money to the gods for said protection. Not much has changed there, except that it is done far more aggressively now.

C21-06 Knowing You, Knowing Me with Nadine Hanchar

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Nadine Hanchar, on air from February 9th

I wrote this book because I had so much success with my clients and students with the PEP Personality Process that they kept asking me for more information. Since most of it in the early days was just in my head I began to define it and refine it into the system it is today and I am grateful that the feedback I am getting from the readers of the book is that they are getting value from it too. My intent is to assist people in having better relationships and communication.

This book is a guide that delivers an in-depth look at your PEP Personality Process and its benefits for those seeking self-development and improvement in their relationships at home and in the workplace. It is an excellent tool for gaining insight into the processing styles of all the key people in our lives.

Knowing our own style gives us insights concerning our tendencies and those of others. It teaches us, how we filter information, how we communicate with others, how we handle stress, how to feel more secure, how we best understand and learn. All of us have a need to be seen and accepted for who we are, to be heard and understood, to feel connected, and to make sense of the world around us.

Whether we know it or not, everyone has a processing style, and it influences how our environment affects us, how we make decisions, how we interpret things, and how we react to situations.

More about what I believe: Creating Better Relationships, Makes a Better World!

When we accept ourselves, we create empowerment. Freedom is gained when we accept others for who they are, and happiness is a result of acknowledging that we are all worthy of respect.

Our differences make us stronger, and our collaborative contributions innovate and build better, stronger organizations; more solid and trusting relationships; and diverse and growing communities that promote a more enlightened world.

In my 30 plus years of working and developing the PEP Personality Process with my family, friends, students, groups, business teams and clients, I have learned a few important things about relationships.

All of us have a need to be accepted for who we are, to be understood, to feel secure, and to make sense of the world around us. We all want to be connected, heard, and seen, and to know we are loved. As we get to know ourselves better, we have better relationships with others, communicate more effectively, appreciate our differences, and better accept one another.

The PEP Personality Process is an excellent tool because it assists us in gaining insight into the personality types of all the key people in our life: our spouse, children, bosses, co-workers, students, friends, and clients or customers. With it, you can discover what others expect from you in terms of communication and behaviour—and what you are expecting of them.

In studying and learning NLP (neurolinguistic programming) and human psychology in conjunction with my spiritual explorations and personal experiences, I discovered that people are rich and layered, and are fascinating. From a very early age, I wanted to know what made people tick. I was always asking questions and observing other people’s behaviours. I began to see patterns, then insights would come to me, and suddenly pieces would click into place.

It truly is my dream to live in a world where people are valued, respected, and accepted for who they are no matter what their culture, religion, country, sexual preference, financial situation, education, or gender. It is my dream to live in a world filled with unity, compassion, and joy. This book is a contribution to that vision. I hope people find it useful and enlightening.

I then went to work for an Independent Newspaper where I quickly ended up managing the advertising department. I also continued my personal and professional studies evenings, weekends and holidays.

I have always been passionate about people, personal growth, and practicality. For over thirty six years, I have studied extensively in Canada and the US to learn about NLP, hypnosis, philosophy, spirituality, communication, nutrition and healing. I am the  developer of the PEP Personality Process for which I published a book called ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You – The PEP Personality Process”. I opened the Private Post-Secondary Education Institute in 1994 where I then offered certification courses to others.

  • I work with individuals, couples and organizations
  • I specializes in the PEP Personality Process and how personality styles affect communication, behaviour and life
  • I assist people in discovering more choices
  • I assist people in building better relationships at home and at work

My Why:

I have always been fascinated by people. I moved a lot as a young person and had to learn to fit in and make friends and got to observe many different people in a multitude of settings and situations. People naturally gravitated to me with their issues and I seemed to be able to give people a different perspective which often assisted them and this was before I had done any formal training.  It seemed like a natural fit and it was something I was genuinely interested in.
