20-24 In Support of Black Lives with Sara.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on-air June 8th

Black lives do matter, the persecution that people of colour have been through for 400 years is simply not acceptable and must stop now.

As the young girl above says, Black Lives matter, they are not saying only black lives matter, but this fight right now with the system, the police and society, and its racism has to change.

The only way we are going to change this is by each one of us looking at our own perceptions and in how we see people of colour in its self. Understanding of the right to live is for everyone’s skin, it is a human and all life forms right. Targetting black people because your programing says they are killers rapes and more if one big blanket of a lie, and if you would only converse with a person of color you will see what they bring to the table of life and how much you would gain by it, I know I have through the years and I am better of for knowing such wonderful people of colour.

https://soundcloud.com/plv-radio/20-24-supporting-black-lives-with-sara

We are products of our programing and our history, but we can rewrite that for we have free will. We can listen to what our black community would like us to hear, we can stand with them in the fight against police violence and hypocrisy. Yes, there is a high number of violence with people of colour, why? because we neglect them, we persecute them, we label them and we stifle them before they have a chance to grow or even believe there is a chance in life for them. So let us stop that, and take a look at the root of the problem which is racism and poverty and lack of support and start to heal the roots and let things grow with equality respect and love.

We may not know what it is like to live in their shoes, but if you have ever known fear especially fear of your life, you understand that.

So as we are being woken up and shaken up? Yes, so let us step up and be the change all people of colour need, for under that skin we all bleed the same and we all seek the right to work, walk, drive, to love and live in a place without fear of losing ones life to racism.

TS20-24 The Need for African American Children’s books

Their Story Matter with Sara Troy, and her guests, Erica Ramsey-Bowen, and Barrett Clemmensen Powell, on-air from June 9th

We speak to the lack of representation of Black children in books as bright, adventurous and capable children. What do they have to be inspired by when they do not see themselves in any books?

“From both my personal experience as well as data compiled from various sources on the subject, it has been demonstrated time and time again that from an early age, children infer from the lack of diverse protagonists that there is a limitation to their abilities and potential. If the sight of the white cisgender Christian able-bodied protagonist keeps appearing in the majority of children’s books (and for me, particularly in fantasy literature), then there is an unspoken understanding that children of color, children who identify as a gender other than a cisgender male, children who are of a different religion than Christianity, and children who are differently-abled ARE NOT SEEN.
Every year, an infographic is produced and shared showing the statistics for diversity in this country compiled by Sarah Park Dahlen and every year, children of color consistently have a much smaller percentage of children’s literature starring THEM vs books with a hero who is white, male, Christian, heterosexual, BUT there are ALSO MORE books featuring an animal as the protagonist versus children of color, or another gender, or religion or physical ability.
So, just to be clear, a polar bear or a talking cat OR a naked mole rat can get more validation, if you will, of their abilities to be the hero in life than any of these other groups of human children.
And last but not least, let’s examine this from the flip side: from the white, cisgender, male-identifying, Christian, physically-abled point of view if you are accustomed to literally seeing yourself as the hero and focus of most adventures, would that not shape your attitude towards the worth of others different than you that you never see in those same pages? It’s no wonder there is a broad unspoken assumption of that white male able-bodied Christian is always to be on the pinnacle, the indisputable top of the heap.

C20-24 SMILE to move forward with Ruqya Khan

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Ruqya Khan, on-air from June 9th

In the face of a challenge, what’s a strategy you can adapt so that you can move from feeling stuck to unstuck. My 5 step formula is my SMILE – it is my legacy and I’d like to run through it and share anecdotes of how in recent stages of life it helped me find my way forward.

Ruqya Khan is an internationally honoured change maker. Leading from chaos to clarity, she sees herself more as a S.M.I.L.E. Strategist than a motivational speaker or life coach. She is a wordsmith – she works with words; delivering stories in print and on stage.

Ruqya is the Founder of SMILETASTIC Coaching, an enterprise that delivers mindset training content to help individuals and organisations build better relationships with themselves and others.

In 2016 she did a TEDx talk on “The Art of Possibility”. She has spoken and been felicitated for her contribution at the Women Economic Forum. She has delivered talks during the Happiness Carnival conducted in Dubai by the Prime Minister’s Office. She coached students and educationalists at the International Youth Leadership and Innovation Forum in Singapore.

She is a Master Practitioner of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Hypnosis and Time Line Therapy®. She is also proficient at the neuroscience techniques of mBraining. She is working towards her PCC level certification with the International Coach Federation.

RK’s journey is fascinating not due to the many places and people with whom she has shared her message but because of the intention that drives her. As a life coach who has been working with words since almost 20 years now, she understands the importance of communication and what we say to ourselves. Her mission is to enable stress free relationships, effective communication skills and improved outlook on life.

Using her S.M.I.L.E. strategy Ruqya catalyses shifts and breakthroughs. With clients and in groups she addresses subconscious limiting beliefs and disrupted pursuits of happiness. Her S.M.I.L.E. strategy is both an art and science best mastered through techniques and practice. It breaks down the tedious process of getting from stuck to unstuck (in any area of life – health, academics, in relationships and even at work) into 5 simple but effective steps. She has presented mindset training workshops in UK, Singapore, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE and India.

Passion to express, trust in self and gratitude are her strengths. She is driven by the awareness that though her life is simple, her achievements are always growing. Each day she is an example to her children and the many who see her as she is.

Inner dialogue and pattern clearing are essential so that we can step into our greatness. A mindset of growth governs not just the roles we play at work but also in life at large. Connect with RK to know more – her legacy is her S.M.I.L.E.
