Tsm 18-19 Comfort Cases changing children’s lives with Rob Scheer

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Robert Scheer, on air from May 8th

On any given day, nearly 437,500 youth in the foster care system in the United States.  Of the thousands of youth who enter the system each year, most arrive carrying little more than the clothes on their backs.  If they are afforded the opportunity to collect any personal belongings, many are then given a trash bag in which to place and carry their personal items.  It is a time of great upheaval and instability, and their first foster home placement is unlikely to be their last.  Many youths in foster care will be moved from home to home multiple times, carrying their life’s treasures in a trash bag.  At Comfort Cases, we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity.  Every child deserves to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their own.  It is our mission as a charity to provide a proper bag, filled with comfort and essential items, to these brave youth in foster care on their journey to find them forever home.

Every child deserves to know that they matter.  When Comfort Cases provides a case to a child in need, we not only offer them new items that they can keep during their journey, we also provide them with dignity and the notion that someone cares about what they are going through.

We have now reached youth in foster care in 34 states, DC, Puerto Rico, and Canada.  We have distributed over 30,000 Cases.  We are so excited by the progress, but also remain steadfastly focused on all the kids we haven’t reached yet.  With nearly half a million kids in care in the US, the need is great, and we have lots of work to do!  Our goal is to put a Comfort Case in the hands of all of the kids in care.

18-18 What if ….you could

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on-air from May 1st.

The What if’s of life can either propel us forward or hold us back, what are you what if’s?

Mine was, would anyone hear me, would anyone listen to me would anyone care? I allowed the outside dictation to cripple my belief in my self and it stopped me from moving forward. Despite that doubt and insecurity, my spirit and soul purpose was too strong, and they overrode me and pushed me forward even if I was fighting all the way.

So What if we fed our possibilities and created opportunities not only for our selves but for those around us? What if in believing you can that you change a life for the better? what if it was your life you changed? Feed your desires, not your doubts, see your greatness and not your insecurities. I know you can do it, I know you want to, I know it is possible so please speak to What if I can.

WJ 18-17 The Power of Hope – Reclaiming Your Life After Tragedy

The Wellness Journey with Lynnis Woods-Mullins and her guest Reverend Tammie Denyse, on air from April 24th

One thing that is a guarantee in life, we will experience heartache, heartbreak, loss, and tragedy.  Unfortunately, these events in life can’t be avoided.  When these life events bombard our lives many times we don’t think we can make it.  Many of us may say “If one more thing happens….” I know I have said that before.

This is one of the statements that went through Reverend Tammie Denyse’s mind.  She had been through the tragedy of losing her Sister, her Father, being diagnosed with Cancer and the biggest heartbreak of all, losing her Son.  The unspeakable pain and loss that she felt were almost unbearable.  But through all of the loss, Tammie Denyse knew that her ultimate survival would be her first line of defence: HOPE.

Tammie Denyse shares in her book “The Power of Hope – Reclaiming Your Life After Tragedy” how her journey through hopelessness, disconnection, disillusionment, abandonment, and hurt led her ultimate healing and grace.

Listening to Tammie Denyse gives one a sense of empowerment and knowing that while tragedy will strike, there is still the power of hope that will lead us through our journey of emotional and spiritual healing.
