23-49. December is Calling.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from December 5th

It’s that joyful time of year again—December has arrived, bringing with it a whirlwind of festive cheer and excitement! Everywhere you look, the spirit of Christmas is in full swing. The streets and shops are bustling with people eagerly engaged in their holiday shopping, each person hunting for the perfect gifts to surprise their loved ones. Kitchens are alive with the delightful aromas of baking, as families and friends come together to create delicious treats and share cherished recipes.

In the midst of all this, we’re also wrapping up important tasks. Businesses are busy closing out the year, finalizing projects, and setting the stage for a prosperous new year. Parents are proudly watching their children complete another successful school year, reflecting on the growth and achievements made.

And then, amidst all this delightful chaos, there’s the balancing act we all perform—juggling the demands of daily life with the added excitement and responsibilities of the holiday season. It’s a hectic time, but it’s filled with joy, warmth, and the priceless opportunity to create lasting memories with those we hold dear.

I am Celebrating two daughters’ birthdays around Christmas and it certainly adds an extra layer of excitement and joy to our December! It’s wonderful to embrace this bustling time with such a positive spirit. Balancing their special days with the Christmas festivities is indeed a unique challenge, but we can handle it with care and love.

Ensuring that each daughter feels special on her birthday is crucial, especially when it’s so close to Christmas. It’s important to separate their birthday gifts from Christmas presents, so each occasion feels distinct and equally celebrated. This thoughtful approach shows that the birthday their special days matters to us.

To manage the financial and emotional aspects of this busy season, it’s helpful to plan ahead. Budgeting for gifts and celebrations in advance can ease the financial strain. Maybe consider setting aside a separate budget for each daughter’s birthday and Christmas, so you can track expenses more effectively.

To avoid burnout, remember to take some time for yourself amidst the preparations. Self-care is vital during busy times like these. Delegate tasks where you can, and don’t hesitate to simplify plans if it helps maintain your well-being and enjoyment of the season. Think Pot-Luck dishes, they are so much fun.

I often speak of loneliness on my shows, especially during the holiday season. Loneliness can indeed have a profound impact on individuals, and your effort to bring awareness and support to those who might be feeling isolated or forgotten is commendable to any and all of you.

There are several ways you can reach out and make a difference:

  1. Community Events: Organizing or participating in community events that are specifically designed to include those who might be alone during the holidays can be a great way to show you care. This could be a communal meal, a holiday concert, or a simple get-together.
  2. Volunteering: Offering your time at shelters, soup kitchens, or senior centers can have a big impact. It’s not just about the physical help but also about showing those who are alone that they are valued and remembered.
  3. Outreach Programs: Working with local charities and organizations to create outreach programs for the homeless or those living alone can help bring warmth and companionship to their lives. This could include delivering holiday meals, care packages, or personal notes.
  4. Media Platform: Since you’ve mentioned doing shows on the subject, using your media platform to discuss the issue of loneliness during the holidays can raise awareness. You can share stories, provide resources, and encourage listeners to reach out in their communities.
  5. Personal Gestures: Sometimes, a small personal gesture can make a big difference. This could be as simple as visiting a neighbor, sending a card, or making a phone call to someone who might be spending the holidays alone.

Remember, the key is to show genuine care and make a heartfelt connection. Even the smallest act of kindness can bring a great deal of comfort and joy to someone who is feeling isolated.

Let’s embrace this festive season with open arms, cherishing each moment, and spreading the joy and love that this time of year is all about. Happy December!

Here’s to a delightful and memorable December filled with birthday cakes, Christmas cheer, and lots of love!

LOA 23-49. Joanne Watson Pets Behaving Badly

Love Our Animals with Sara Troy and her guest Joanne Watson, on air from December 6th

I want more people to know about the options on how to get your pet to behave differently over Zoom. One thing that COVID showed us is that many different and often surprising things can be accomplished over Zoom now.  This is one of them.

I believe in fixing Pets Behaving Badly because life is stressful enough without having our fur-legged family adding to that stress. They are supposed to help us relax and have fun, not add to the turmoil and burden of life! Also, as in the case of anxious pets, they can harm themselves and I don’t like that either. Christmas can bring out or magnify these behaviours because everyone’s excitement and stress levels rise.

The definition of ‘BADLY BEHAVED’ is under ‘naughty’ in the English Oxford Dictionary, where naughty is described as: badly behaved, disobedient.  So, if your pet isn’t doing what you want, then technically, it’s naughty, disobedient, badly behaved when compared to your set of rules.  I’ve spent lots of time working out how to fix these problems in my own animals and now I do it to help others.

Love Our Animals

We have done many a show on our pets and animals in general through the years. We speak to the well beingness, their heart and souls and what they mean to us as a humanity.

Here you will find heartwarming tales and insightful discussions about our beloved furry, feathered, and scaled friends. You know, through the years, we’ve shared countless stories about our pets and the incredible role animals play in our lives. It’s been a journey filled with laughter, sometimes tears, but always with immense love and respect for these wonderful beings.

Let’s talk about not just the joy and companionship our pets bring, but also their well-being, their soulful eyes that seem to understand us better than we understand ourselves. These creatures, they’re not just pets, are they? They’re family, they’re healers, they’re our connection to a more natural, instinctive way of life.

And it’s not just about our domestic buddies. Let’s broaden our horizon to the wild ones, the majestic beings that roam the earth, air, and seas. They too have stories, they too have a place in the fabric of our world. Their survival, their rights, their habitats – they matter just as much.

On our shows, I bring in experts – from vets to wildlife champions – to shed light on these topics. But hey, this isn’t just my show, it’s ours. So, I want to hear from you. Your stories, your questions, your experiences with these amazing animals. Let’s make this a conversation, a community.

Together, let’s celebrate, protect, and learn more about our animal companions and the wild wonders that grace our planet. Stay tuned, and let’s continue this incredible journey together.

Till next time, keep loving and respecting all creatures great and small.”

Swapna Abraham.

Multiple World Record Holder & Award Winner, Singer-Songwriter, Actor, Author, Interior Designer, Mentor and Versatile Corporate Professional.

A multiple world record holder and award winner, Swapna Abraham is a singer-songwriter, actor, author, interior designer, mentor, and versatile corporate professional from Kerala with her roots and formation in India and prime experience in the UAE.

Swapna has authored and produced 21 musical albums and performed extensively on the international gospel music platform (www.swapnaabraham.com). Holding 4 world records in singing and songwriting with the Golden Book of World Records (www.1000songsin1000days.com), she has also published a memoir ‘She Played In The Dark’ entailing the journey and lessons through the 1000-day world record journey.

SHOW THREE. Composed live – music and lyrics, one song everyday for 1000 days from 8 April 2017 to 2 January 2020

This project was an afterthought before embarking on a world record attempt to establish legitimacy in the outcome. And proceeded to be a world record in its own right with the Golden Book of World Records – Longest quotidian feat of composing, producing and publishing children’s song incessantly.

SHOW TWO. ‘She Played In The Dark’ is the story of a protagonist that found her own definition of and path to fulfilment and success if one may call it that. All this with the responsibility of caring for two college-going children, one of which got married and had two babies in the course of the challenge; aged parents who were always at the back of her mind, the hustle with a rather busy day job that paid the bills, health matters, any travel whether it was on the road to work, by air reaching family and friends or in a lift headed for home (and the challenge).

SHOW ONE. To share my story of realizing my calling after having reached what I imagined was a dead end. There are people out there that are probably at that dead end and cannot see the light of day. If mine could help them see and navigate, I’d have achieved far more than I did through my 1000-day challenge that set four world records in singing-songwriting and everything until then.

  • Finalist – Spring 2023 – World Songwriting Awards – Best Modern Country Song
  • Official 2023 Finalist – InterContinental Music Awards
  • Official Nomination – Hollywood Independent Music Awards – Country (Crossover)

She is presently producing the 1000 songs that were written on A Children’s Song A Day through the 1000 days and that set one of the four world records; and is soon expecting it to be published internationally along with the song book in two volumes. This will be the biggest album of original songs made for children in the age group of 4-12.
