I didn’t become Selfish talk

Today’s Conversation: Selfish or Harder to Manipulate

Guests Linda Binns & Sara Troy

Welcome to our series of conversations with the authors of the book “I Didn’t Become Selfish, I Became Harder to Manipulate”.

In this program, Sara Troy & Linda Binns join Sara Jane & Scott. They will be expanding on the wisdom they shared in the book and talking about:

*Unmask Your Saboteurs and Take Your Power Back

We all have unseen saboteurs – those internal critics that stifle your growth, affect your happiness and focus only on what’s wrong with your life, instead of what’s right.

Once you identify them and how they affect you, that’s when you begin to take your power back. Unmasking them by shining the light of awareness on them takes away their power and hold on you.

     * Self-Care, Essential for Our Wellbeing

Being self-caring allows us to honour our needs without guilt, creating space for emotional clarity and balance.

Releasing tears I once held back is like unlocking a door to my own truth, freeing the pain I silently carried and softening the weight I didn’t realize I bore.

That strength is the quiet resilience that arises when we finally allow ourselves to feel, release, and be whole.

Join Linda, Sara, and the team live in an open, honest & thought-provoking conversation, as they share their thoughts & insights. You are invited to ask questions and comment in the chat.

25-28. No black & white COLOUR IT

Sara’s View of Life on air from July 15th

How to Be Colourful in a Black and White World

We’re living in a time where the world feels sharply divided, black or white, right or wrong with very little space for nuance or warmth. The gray zone in between has become a fog of confusion and disillusionment, often muting our spirit. But where is the colour? Where is the warmth, the joy, the life? If we stay trapped in this monochrome mindset, we lose touch with the vibrancy of being. It’s essential that we bring colour back, into our conversations, our actions, our hearts. That means choosing joy, consciously. Whether it’s by dancing to music that lifts you, wrapping yourself in a scarf of bright hues, laughing with your grandkids, or simply stepping away from the heaviness and into a space that nurtures your soul.

Yes, we must care, we must be informed, and we must stand up where we can—but not at the cost of our own light. We cannot pour from an empty cup. We need to refill with beauty, laughter, and love. Wear color. Dance with scarves. Watch a movie. Read a book that takes you away. Sit in nature and let the trees speak to your spirit. Join the chorus of change, but let it be fueled by joy and not just anger. Be that vibrant note in the world’s orchestra. Because being colourful in a black and white world isn’t frivolous—it’s revolutionary.

We are the artists of our own lives. When we choose to add brushstrokes of compassion, tones of hope, and bursts of courage, we not only brighten our own path, we become a living mural for others to follow. In a world drowning in noise and judgment, your colour, your joy, and your radiant authenticity become an act of sacred defiance. So take up space, wear your truth, and let your spirit shine. It’s time to colour outside the lines and remind the world that life was never meant to be lived in grayscale.

BB25-28. Haylee Gernert & The Virtual Life

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Haylee Gernert, on air from July 15th

I believe the behind-the-scenes of a business is where the magic really happens, and that magic deserves care, clarity, and intention. My journey into Online Business Management started with a love of organizing chaos and a deep respect for the humans at the heart of every company. Through systems, structure, and soulful strategy, I support small business owners so they can stop drowning in the day-to-day and get back to the big-picture work they’re meant to do. My message is for anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed by their own success and needs a trusted partner to help bring order, alignment, and ease to their operations. I also write The Virtual Life, a newsletter and creative outlet where I share stories and reflections from the world of online business: a space to connect with others walking this unique and dynamic path

I started my professional path in traditional administrative roles, learning early on how much I love supporting people, not just with tasks, but with vision. Over time, I moved into virtual support and discovered the world of Online Business Management, where I found my sweet spot: helping purpose-driven entrepreneurs build systems that actually support the life and business they want. Today, I work as an OBM and Retreat Support Specialist, blending operations expertise with heart-centered strategy. I also write a Substack newsletter called The Virtual Life, a passion project where I explore the behind-the-scenes of digital entrepreneurship. I’m based in Northern California, raising a family, growing a business I love, and travelling as often as I can.

C25-28. BarbaraAnne, #BeBoldBeBrave

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Barbara Anne, on air from July 15th

? The Power of Being Seen ?
Too often, the world forgets the brilliance that lives in women over 40. We’ve been the caregivers, the builders, the soul-bearers, and the quiet warriors. We’ve overcome, transformed, and risen, sometimes in silence, often without applause. But no more.

This is the time to Be Bold, Be Brave.

My latest campaign is a tribute to the women who have lived, lost, learned, and led, with grace, with grit, and with unapologetic strength. It is a celebration of the women who dared to rewrite their stories after 40, who’ve walked through fire and emerged not burned but forged.

The Power of Being Seen is not about vanity. It’s about visibility.
It’s about acknowledging our journeys, honouring our bodies, valuing our wisdom, and reclaiming our place in the spotlight, not for approval, but for truth.
Because when women over 40 are truly seen, the world shifts. Generations are inspired. Real change begins.

This movement is not just for the bold-hearted, it’s for those ready to remember who they are, to share their truth, and to stand tall in their magnificence.

? Let us lift each other up.
? Let us reflect one another’s light.
? Let us be seen—in all our boldness, bravery, and beauty.

Are you one of these women? Or do you know someone who is? Join the conversation. Tag a woman who has inspired you after 40. Let her know she’s seen, she’s valued, and she’s celebrated.

Barbara Anne is a portrait artist and entrepreneur whose journey began far from the camera lens. With a background in entrepreneurship, business coaching and community leadership, she spent years helping others grow their brands and voices—while quietly hiding from the spotlight herself. After a period of deep personal reflection and a growing frustration with how women, especially in business, undervalue their self-image, Barbara transformed her photography hobby into a powerful tool to change lives and never looked back. What had begun as a creative outlet quickly became a calling: to help people reclaim their sense of worth, one portrait at a time. Today, she runs Barbara Anne Photography, where she creates empowering portrait experiences that turn self-doubt into confidence and photographs into legacy artwork.

AK25-28. The Fire Concerto by Sarah Landenwich

An Authors Kiss with Sara Troy and her guest Sarah Landenwich, on air from June 17th

THE FIRE CONCERTO (Union Square & Co.; June 10, 2025) is a riveting literary debut by Sarah Landenwich that blends mystery, music, and forgotten history. When Clara Bishop—a once-celebrated pianist now tending bar in Texas—receives a mysterious metronome from her estranged former mentor, she’s pulled back into a world she thought she’d left behind.

The metronome may be tied to her ancestor, famed composer Aleksander Starza, and the woman accused of murdering him, brilliant 19th-century pianist Constantia Pleyel. As Clara and her childhood rival Tony travel to Poland in search of the truth, they uncover dangerous secrets, lost compositions, and a narrative far more complex than the one history has recorded.

With echoes of generational trauma, artistic obsession, and redemption, THE FIRE CONCERTO is a lush, suspenseful novel that reclaims the voices of extraordinary women long erased from memory. Through pain, Clara must find beauty, and perhaps, a way back to herself.

SARAH LANDENWICH is a writer, a writing instructor, and a classically trained pianist.
