TSM16/29 Interracial Adoption Racism and Lost Identity with Catana Tully.

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Catana Tully, aired  from July 19th

13423866_1158083304256833_4463303370294394126_n

Dr. Catana Tully’s incredible story shows how an exotic child adopted into a White family learned to overcome painful racial confusion, misplaced identity, poor self-image, and fear of abandonment to lead a meaningful and significant life.

Through the years I was often encouraged to tell the story of my ‘fairy tale’ life. However, not until reaching my late forties, when I became increasingly at odds with myself, did I discover that what seemed magical to others was not necessarily so. Eventually, I discovered issues more important than details of my life I needed to share with a larger audience.

Catana Tully at 8 months of age

The central theme of my book addresses ethnic misplacement due to having been raised within a culture and among a people different to my own. I have structured the story chronologically to reveal layers of great privilege and simultaneous disinheritance.

Unlike any adoption memoir, in this story the issues of the adopted child surface much later in life. The first obvious market for this book is older exotic children who were adopted into mainstream White culture in the US and Europe where interracial adoptions have become a popular phenomenon. However, the concerns should be of great interest to all parents, or prospective parents of adoptees, older exotic adoptees, and all people of mixed races.

Today the retired college professor is the bestselling author of Split at the Root: A Memoir of Love and Lost Identity. After retiring from her position of tenured college professor, she has dedicated herself to addressing the pressing issues adult exotic adoptees, and parents who have or are planning to adopt interracially, face on a daily basis. She offers words of wisdom and tools to strengthen their impaired images of themselves, their race, their religion, and their culture.

Author2-225x300Dr. Catana Tully grew up trilingual (German, Spanish, English) in Guatemala where she attended elementary and middle school. In tenth grade she entered a boarding school in Jamaica, WI and received her Advanced Level Higher Schools Certificate from Cambridge University, England. Expecting to become an international interpreter, she continued her studies at the Sprachen und Dolmetscher Institut in Munich, Germany. However, she was called to work in a play and discovered her affinity for the dramatic arts. She became the actress and fashion model Catana Cayetano and appeared in Film and TV work in Germany, Austria, and Italy. In Munich she met and married the American actor Frederick V. Tully and ultimately moved to the United States. They have a son, split-at-the-root-paperback-cover1Patrick. In Upstate New York, she completed the BA in Cultural Studies, an MA in Latin American and Caribbean Literature, and a DA (doctor of Arts) in Humanistic Studies. She held the position of tenured Associate Professor at SUNY Empire State College, from which she retired in 2003. She returned in 2005 for part time work in ESC’s Center for International Programs, where she served as Mentor and instructor in the Lebanon program, and as Interim Program Director for the Dominican Republic. In 2011 she retired completely to dedicate herself to publishing Split at the Root. She is currently preparing an academic version discussing the psychological issues embedded in the memoir.

“I personally believe good health is not an unobtainable privilege meant to be savored only by the fortunate, but rather, it is a right that should be enjoyed by anyone who is willing to take the time to learn how to take care of his or her own body. I have dedicated myself to the idea that everyone is entitled to the healthiest and vital lifestyle they are capable of obtaining. In 1991 when I founded Transformation Enzyme Corporation, I formulated my own line of enzyme-based dietary supplements. I wanted to be sure I could provide the highest quality possible in supplementation for my family, friends, and colleagues. Today, Transformation™ sets the standard of what wellness should look like.

As a clinician I have found great success using enzyme therapy both personally and in my practice. I have been asked this same question for the last thirty-five years: ‘How did you get so involved with enzymes?’ I personally experienced three types of cancer prior to reaching my thirty-fifth birthday. Thankfully my experiences with these wonderful plant-based enzymes have assisted me to remain a cancer survivor for the next thirty-five years. It truly has been a lifesaving benefit to have been introduced to enzyme therapy. I believe enzyme therapy also saved the life of my daughter, Coleen.”

The Healing Power of Enzymes

Healing Power of Enzymes

Enzymes are the unsung heroes of good health. “We can’t exist without them, but few people understand the essential role enzymes play in life,” according to Dr. DicQie Fuller, author of a recently released book, The Healing Power of Enzymes, published by Forbes Custom Publishing.

Written in plain language, the book describes how enzymes act as catalysts, aiding digestion and supporting the body’s endocrine system. “Enzymes must be present before any chemical reaction can occur. Even vitamins, minerals, and hormones cannot do their job without enzymes,” notes Dr. Fuller. Dr. Fuller holds a double Ph.D. in nutrition and health sciences and has more than 20 years of experience in enzyme therapy.

Where do enzymes come from? Some are produced by the body, but most people lack sufficient enzymes because age and high stress reduce the body’s ability to make them, Fuller asserts. Enzymes in food are preserved in raw foods, but are destroyed in cooking. Dr. Fuller recommends supplements to bridge the gap.

The Healing Power of Enzymes explains how enzymes work and why they are necessary. The book identifies common symptoms of enzyme deficiency and offers a plan for individuals seeking to improve and maintain their health. Case studies provide compelling examples of how enzyme therapy has helped people with recurring or long-standing medical problems find relief. For example, a victim of chronic fatigue syndrome who was unable to hold down a regular job was back at work full-time after nine weeks of enzyme therapy.

The author also helps readers understand how their body type affects their food cravings and subsequent weight gain. “We as a nation spend over $35 billion dollars a year on weight loss programs,” Fuller notes. “And the only thing we are really losing is ground.” She provides specific diet and exercise programs tied to each of the four common body types that will keep excess weight off and energy levels at their peak.

16/28 Feed the fear or fuel the change?

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, airs July 12th-18th

ext

We know whats wrong in the world, we know that greed and power the forever hungry need for control by the few over the masses, but do we know what we can do about it?

We have women and children enslaved into poverty, starvation, sex slavery and repression.

We have countries hosting an Olympics it cant afford while its own people starve.

We have countries dividing no matter the cost instead of unity.

We have politicians buying power to keep that power within the hands of those who will do nothing for the many and only serve the few.

We have wars and killings in the name of GODS, but really it is about control and power.

We are a global nations that still feeds the fear, still feeds hate, still feeds slavery….and we let it happen.

We are in a world that looks at all life as cattle and we treat our human and animal kingdom as garbage to dispose of or just consume.

KINDNESSSo what are we to do? How do we go up against the war money hungry powers and win?

How do you teach a man that a woman is not his property, not his sex slave not his servant?

How do you teach a sick person that children are not sex slaves or a work force for their profit?

How do we teach the establishment who have made money on the backs of our impoverished, that investing in people will bring more rewards that enslaving them?

How do we teach people about compassion, collaboration, and unity and a global love?

How do we teach people that kindness is the key to life, that caring it the fuel, that love is the answer?

WE BECOME WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

Is it that simple? can we change the world by changing our selves? YES YES YES WE CAN.

We are the answer we seek, we can feed the hate the fear the power or we can step up and empower each other, we can stop the madness we can say no more; it just takes courage, strength, collaboration and commitment and a belief in humanity of what we can become; of what we really are, of what we are meant to be.

The change is within you, the change is YOU...for all answers are within our selves, all solutions are with in our grasp, all it needs is a belief that we can change so there for so can the world.

One person at a time, one community at a time, one nation at a time = a world where peace respect and kindness and love can have a chance. BUT we have to be that change we seek, we have to stop making excuses start being accountable for our action and stop feeding the fear, feeding the hate, feeding those in power, we have to stand up and be accountable and stop spouting what the problem is and start being the solution by changing they way we conduct our own lives and in the way we choose to see our selves in life.

ARE YOU A PERSON WHO WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE HOW EVER SMALL OR BIG?

AAEAAQAAAAAAAAIQAAAAJDk1OWI5OTA0LTcyNjgtNGNiMC1iZTRjLTgxOWRjNTBmMGUyMg

So what are you going to do today to make a life better? what are you going to do today to embrace your OWN possibilities? What are you going to do today to enable, guide and empower someone else into liberation? Don’t just speak about it, DO IT one person at a time, one positive thought at a time, one action at a time, for at least you are now moving forward and making that difference the world seeks.

One drop of water at a time can make an ocean, be that ONE DROP of HOPE LOVE and SOLUTION.
