I’ve done many things in my life, but after getting an undergraduate degree in European History, I got an MBA and got licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. Starting out, I worked in several technology jobs, I managed a 16-attorney law firm, I taught accounting at the community college, and I finally took the leap and opened my own business of developing and managing self storage facilities. After retiring, I wanted to stay active and thought it would be fun to write a book for my grandchildren. My whole family skis, so this prompted me to undertake the first book, Tucker the Sno-Cat. That is when I went looking for an illustrator and co-author and found Annette Zack. After some success with the first book, we decided to write another one titled, Flotsam and Jetsam and other Beach Treasures.

Darci believes each of us holds a magnifying glass and’ we get to choose what to do with it. We can focus it on the negative 10% in our lives – those things and people that bother us and drag us down – or we can choose to focus on the 90% in our lives that is positive and empowers us to be and feel our best. What we focus on determines how we live our lives. Darci will challenge where you focus your magnifying glass when reflecting on yourself (looking after the person in the mirror), the people around you (leading, working and supporting others) and your personal life (being a positive influence at home and an example of wellness for others to follow). The Focus on the 90% philosophy helps individuals reframe the way they look at, and think about their work, interactions and relationships with others.

Going into your memory box to slowly unpack the 10%, to understand it, release it or let it be your propeller to move you forward, for your 90% living is waiting for you to truly live.

My professional arc spans over three decades, beginning in the dynamic world of Investor Relations, Public Relations, and Marketing where I built a formidable career shaping narratives for businesses across the spectrum. A near-fatal skydiving accident in 2015 marked a personal and professional turning point, leading to a traumatic brain injury that fundamentally altered my life’s trajectory. In the challenging years that followed, my resilience was tested by a sequence of manipulative scams that preyed on my compromised state, culminating in a wrongful arrest abroad and a four-year fight for justice in a foreign land.

This crucible of adversity did not define me but rather refined my purpose. Today, as an author and speaker, I’m driven to share my story — a vivid testament to survival, the importance of awareness against international scams, and the need for systemic change. My mission now extends beyond business success to advocating for the unseen victims of injustice and guiding others through the labyrinth of recovery and self-rediscovery.
