CH18-48 Being a Super Mum of 15 by Caring for Mum

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest  LaChelle Adkins, on air from November 27th

LaChelle Adkins is married to Jerome Adkins. The couple have been married for 25 years and have 15 children. LaChelle and Jerome had 13 children together and Jerome has 2 other sons, the oldest of which lived with them from age 11 through high school graduation.

The couple began their own church- World Fellowship of Jesus Christ in 2011. They also began their company Protocol Group in 2016. This company was originally formed to represent their family as they were approached by several production companies to pursue a reality television show. After several contracts that did not share their family vision they retired that journey.

At that time her husband was actively working as a Walmart store manager and due to the long hours and high demands he decided to resign and pursue a career that allowed him to spend more time with the family. So they began a division of the company named Protocol Landscape Consultants. They worked to build this company from its conception of April 2016 to serve as a profitable business to sustain the family as the sole source of income.

In January 2017, LaChelle began pursuing life coaching with Protocol Group. With a zeal to be transparent with her own experiences such as 3 occasions of hospitalization in a behavioral hospital for stress and postpartum depression. Her audience grew to encompass coaching to help empower others to overcome their obstacles in life.

We will be covering.

7 ways to avoid Mommy burnout. As a wife and mother of 15 children, I have seen first hand the effects of mommy burnout. I have learned the ways to strategize a system to create balance and avoid stress, anxiety or depression which may proceed burnout.

The 7 ways are:

  1. Your worth is not determined by the role you play like wife, mother or position in career.
  2. Identify what you can and can not control.

3. Establish realistic goals/expectations.

  1. Create a system that consists of including work towards your goals in your daily routine.
  2. Spend the first hour that you awake doing something for yourself. This will allow you to have a better attitude in tackling your day.
  3. Create a support group/tribe of like minded people to help encourage you on bad days.
  4. Get a good night’s rest of at least 6 hours.

In addition to life coaching she uses her degree in Marketing from Indiana University to help small businesses increase their market share.

LaChelle enjoys accomplishing impossible feats because she believes that is evidence of God working in her life and creates momentum in her life when she is faced with challenges in life. Her goal is to leave a lasting impression with everyone that she meets and add value to make their lives better.

IG18-47 “Mad Monk Manifesto” with Monk Yun Rou

Ignite Your Heart and Soul with Sara Troy and her guest Monk Yun Rou,
on air from November  20TH

A Daoist (Taoist) Approach to the Moral and Practical Issues Facing the World Today;
How We as Individuals and Our Society Must Adapt Daoist Living, Thinking and Acting to Avert
“The Sixth Great Extinction”
According to Monk Yun Rou–Yale educated, South-Florida based author of 15 books, Tai Chi Master and Daoist monk ordained in China–if we adhered to the principles set forth around 500 BC by Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching, we wouldn’t be in this mess–but there is just enough time to commit to the Daoist (Taoist) way if our world is to avert “The Sixth Great Extinction.”
You would think that a monk would avoid the limelight and controversy, but not this one! He weighs right in on the great issues of today and how we humans are undermining our existence, not just environmentally, but by creating a toxic focus on self-interest that poisons our politics, lifestyle, health, parenting, technology, human interaction, and much more.
But lest you think his new book, Mad Monk Manifesto is simply a diatribe or rant, it is not! From its subtitle: A Prescription for Evolution, Revolution and Global Awakening you will discern that he has answers. This beautifully penned guidebook, from the award-winning author who has written for The Huffington Post , Vogue, Vanity Fair, Parade, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, WebMD and Fox Business News, reveals all the ways we as individuals, our society and our institutions can adapt and apply Daoist wisdom and practices to life today.

Using those basic principles–take your cues from and exist in harmony with nature, live simply, be authentic and humble, serve others, do no harm, stay calm and creative in the face of resistance, honor your own body, live peacefully-he lays out how things could be different if the Daoist filter was applied to just about everything.
The first section of the book looks at “Relaxing and Rectifying,” the way we can restore peace, calm, introspection and sanity to ourselves. The second looks at “Rebalancing Daily Life” – lifestyle choices. The third examines applying Daoist wisdom to “Fostering Community and Deepening Culture” — how we treat each other. Next, Monk Yun Rou tackles “Culture, Commerce, Government and Power” — a section not to be missed! After that, his clarion call for stopping the destruction of the planet, “Sensitivity and the Environment,” closing with his plea for “Awakening to Spirit and Service.”
Growing up in America, as a young Arthur Rosenfeld, grandson of Holocaust survivors and nephew to a highly regarded Democratic governor of New York stunned by the death of JFK, Rosenfeld came to question much about the harsh realities of the life he saw around him. As a youngster, he found that Daoist classics appealed to his sense of rebelliousness with their “fearless insistence on its existence of higher laws and principles, revolutionary defiance of authoritarian intrusiveness, and emphasis on nature, intuition, mysticism and transcendence.”
But the most powerful experience of his life stemmed from gritty, glorious months in the Paraguayan jungle as a field biologist, which deepened his commitment to Daoism and nature. Only to return post graduate after the intense disquieting of modern university life at Yale, to fly over and discover the utter destruction and desecration of the same jungle for the purpose of cattle grazing designed to feed America’s voracious appetite for cheap hamburgers.
He turned off the path of man’s headlong quest for materialism and toward a life of contemplation, personal practice, and teaching.
Today, Monk Yun Rou is committed to sharing the values and practices of Daoism, of which Tai Chi is the most visible physical form. He may best be known for Longevity Tai Chi with Arthur Rosenfeld on national PBS television that aired in 60 million households from 2010-13, but Mad Monk Manifesto will undoubtedly bring him back to center stage.

BB18-47/48 STOP Being a Jack of all Trades but perfect your Hats with Jack Eagan

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Jack Eagan, on air from November 20th part 1 or 2

My industry specifically has moved further and further into combining jobs. Even the term “Preditor” has been coined for people that are producers and editors. This is amazing because really they have defined Producer to mean someone that can shoot, write, and produce. But now they are also adding Editor to the mix. This is in part due to the change in technology, but that is often an excuse for those who want to cut corners and not pay a proper team. As someone that wears many hats, I can tell you that it is important to hand those hats off to others as often as possible

I really don’t like writing bios about myself. I have something on my website you can check out. I will say that I am southern that has lived in NC almost my entire life. I was raised by two amazing parents, both lawyers, that encouraged reading, higher learning, and a constant study of one’s self. Almost nothing ever came easy to me, I struggled in school and was often labeled a kid that probably would never read or write at a proper level. I graduated from college with a degree in Communications focused in Print Media. I have always been a storyteller, and live by the motto “Storyteller by any media necessary”. I am primarily a filmmaker, but I have published several books, painted and sold some, worked as a special fx artist, and more.

RGC 18-46 A FOREVER FAMILY with Rob Schear

Raising Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guest Rob Shear, on air November 13th.

ROB SCHEER Founder of Comfort Cases with Jon Sternfeld

A FOREVER FAMILY  a truly inspiring memoir by Rob Scheer, the founder of Comfort Cases, about his turbulent childhood in the foster care system and the countless obstacles and discrimination he endured in adopting his four children.

Rob Scheer never thought that he would be living the life he is now. He’s happily married to his partner and love of his life, he’s the father of four beautiful children, and he’s the founder of an organization that makes life better for thousands of children in the foster care system.

But life wasn’t always like this.

Growing up in an abusive household before his placement in foster care, Rob had all the odds stacked against him. Kicked out of his foster family’s home within weeks after turning eighteen—with a year left of high school to go—he had to resort to sleeping in his car and in public bathrooms. He suffered from drug addiction and battled with depression, never knowing when his next meal would be or where he would sleep at night. But by true perseverance, he was able to find his own path and achieve his wildest dreams.

Poignant, gripping, and inspiring, Rob’s story provides a glimpse into what it’s like to grow up in the foster care system and sheds necessary light on the children who are often treated without dignity. A courageous, candid account of life in the foster care system, his memoir is also a timely call to action.
