Aired October 14th on Ask Sara with Sara Troy
Hate, Fear, Grudges, and resentments, hold us back from embracing the positive possibilities.
Holding on to hate makes you live in hate
Holding on to fear makes you live in fear
Holding on to grudges stops you from embracing life
We cannot live in the pain of what has been because the past, while it has shaped us, is immovable and unchangeable. Dwelling on past hurts, regrets, or failures anchors us to a time that no longer exists, draining us of the energy and potential that could be poured into creating a meaningful future. The past holds lessons, yes, but it is not a place to reside. Instead, it serves as a stepping stone—a guide for how we move forward, rather than a weight that keeps us in place.
While we cannot alter what has been, we hold immense power over what comes next. The future is not a fixed destination; it’s a living canvas that we paint with our thoughts, actions, and choices. How we look at the future determines its color. If we view it through the lens of fear, pain, or resentment, we risk creating a life of isolation and limitation. But if we choose to approach it with curiosity, hope, and courage, we begin to see the endless possibilities for growth, connection, and joy.
It’s a choice—a conscious decision to let go of the fear, hate, grudges, and pain that keep us chained to yesterday. These emotions are heavy, and carrying them forward into each new day only robs us of our ability to truly live. Holding onto hate poisons our soul. Fear blinds us to opportunities. Grudges lock us in cycles of resentment that harm us far more than the people we hold them against. Pain, when clung to, becomes the filter through which we see the world—a distorted, limiting view that blocks the light of potential.
But letting go isn’t about forgetting or dismissing what has happened. It’s about reclaiming our power. It’s about saying, “This will not define me. This will not dictate how I live my life from this moment on.” It’s about forgiveness—not always for others, but for ourselves—so that we can finally be free.
The tomorrows waiting for us are untold stories. Each one is a chance to think differently, to live with intention, and to fully participate in the symphony of life. By releasing what no longer serves us, we make room for what does: love, purpose, and the ability to thrive.
The choice is ours every day—to break the cycle of pain and to embrace the possibilities that come with a renewed perspective. Life doesn’t wait for us to make this choice, but it will always reward us when we do.
