14/41Winning at the Game of Life Despite Disabilities

Airing October 14th-20th on The Writers Divine Den with Jackie VanCampen and her guest  Win Charles.

How much could you accomplish if you were able to win over any challenges, physical or otherwise? Join me for a very inspirational interview with Author, Artist, and Leader Win Kelly Charles, who overcame the challenges of cerebral palsy to achieve many of her dreams and to then inspire people to never give up.

10569181_10152790982259446_1407457914_nMy name is Win Charles. In 1987, I was born in Aspen, CO where I continue to live. I am an inspirational leader, author, athlete, and a self-taught artist and became interested in doing artwork as a way to cope with having cerebral palsy.

At age 24 I decided to tell my story. Writing this autobiography, I, Win, gave me the opportunity to pay tribute to my family members who are passionate about life and have instilled this passion in me. My parents’ extraordinary support, encouragement, and pure love were my foundation as I navigated life, overcame obstacles, and achieved successes as a young woman with cerebral palsy. I have to pay full tribute to my mother, who died in August 2010. From her I learned to listen to my own voice as a guide to making life choices. She taught me to always expect the best from myself.

My hope is that this book will provide insight into the extraordinary possibilities that those who live with disabilities have. I also hope that those without disabilities– rather than putting a focus on our differences – will come to understand what we all have in common. This book is for my mom, with love.

14/40 Laughter & Health=Wellness

Airing October 7th-13th on Wise Health with Suma Nathan and her guest Marti Avila

Part one on how laughing yourself healthy can lead to wellness but taking charge of your own health.

1280455_503375346404607_1565932961_nMarti says that as a little girl, I remember bringing my little friends home when they where hungry, thirsty or needed help, so I could help them.

Now as an adult, my biggest happiness is to help people get healthy and happy.

My journey started when I studied and learned how to lose weight.  I lost over 100 lbs when I was 19 years old.  That left me with a passion and genuine interest to learn how the body functions, heals, works and most importantly, how to stay healthy.

For the last three and a half decades I’ve been practicing eating healthy, exercising (or as I call it “Moving”), taking supplements and telling jokes, keeping my self and people around me positive, uplifted and happy.

With great gratitude and enthusiasm, I’ve had the opportunity to go to school and further my formal education by becoming certified in the following fields in order to make this my true career and life’s mission:

  • Certified Holistic Health Coach
  • Certified Ayurveda Practitioner
  • Certified Dr. Daniel Amen Brain Health Professional
  • A Natural Hormone Cure Practitioner
  • CME (Continuing Medical Education) in Certificate Natural Supplementation
  • Course graduate of “Nutrition for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion”
  • Member of AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners)
  • Certified Holistic Health Practitioner
  • Health column writer for “North County Woman” Magazine
