P14/25b Celebrating South Africa’s People Today

Aired June 26th/14 on Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Heather de Wit.

Who are the people making a difference in South Africa today?  We call on all South Africans in or out of South Africa to join us in celebrating those making a difference in S.A and the world.

Africa is where it all started – It is the solar plexus of the planet Earth, the Cradle of Humankind and it needs to heal before the planet can move on to the next level of consciousness

Says Heather: ‘Africa is where it all started – It is the solar plexus of the planet Earth, the Cradle of Humankind and it needs to heal before the planet can move on

People need to heal in order to inspire, be inspired and be inspiring!

I am fuelled to pursue my purpose, my identity, my authenticity, the dream for my life, by paying attention to, following and researching inspiring people that are ‘doing it’ and why not keep it local?

It’s high time for all South Africans to take their power back as a people, to rise, to shine, to truly embrace our uniqueness, to support our great local people and our very own slogan – ‘Local is lekka and our very own thing called ‘Ubuntu. ‘

For too long now, South Africans and Business have had a conditioned mindset and accepted utilising the dominating global imports at huge prices and going outside for specialist training, when we have equally capable people right here on our own turf.

It’s a mindset that needs to change and change for the greater good is a grand thing …                                                                                                                                                      HOUT BAY

Me, myself, I am the founder and owner of “Inspiring South Africans” – which was created to 647737honour the legacy of our belated and beloved Nelson Mandela.

I spent my former years in Gauteng and relocated to Cape Town in 1976.

I would describe myself as an ‘out there’ creative, whose fierce spirit at times needs to be reigned in, I have to confess …

I’m a curious seeker of the truth in all things. Nothing is ever as it seems. I find this fascinating.

I would describe myself as an ‘out there’ creative, whose fierce spirit at times needs to be reined in. I have to confess, I’m a curious seeker of the truth in all things.

I have thrived as an Entrepreneur in ‘The Republic of Hout Bay’ for 30 odd years, striving always on the ability to serve, in both
my business and personal endeavours.

0043 The making of Synthetic Consciousness

Premiering 09-03-2013 Synthetic Consciousness

There  names are Jeremy Rankin and Cole Hausdorf, and collectively, along with Will Richardson, our PLV RADIO sound tech guy, they will make Synthetic Consciousness a new radio show produced by PLV-Radio Network for weekend listening.

We will be discussing why they love to fly high up in the sky and the correlation to their love of music. Jeramy played the Viola for years and had a choice to make, music or flying, and the wings won out. Cole has been drawn to the skies for a few years now, but understands that is is music to his heart when he fly’s.

993935_514505491956649_1319550067_nThey will be bringing you sounds of the present and the future.

We will be bringing you interviews with local musicians, artists, poets, pilots, actors and up and coming people, and more. We will be talking about spirituality and delving into peoples lives and their minds. We will talk about astrology, meditation, reiki. All that good stuff!

Cole and I are both pilots, and we have avgas in our blood, as they say. We are addicted to the feeling that flying gives us.

More than that, we both are also addicted to the feeling music gives us. Music is our lives (along with aviation) and we are non-stop listening to music.

All day, Everyday.

And we will be playing music from all over the world and a wide array of genres from reggae to 60’s soul to rap up to metal.

Cole, 23, from Ontario, Canada and Jeremy, 21, from Brisbane, Australia and both young gents moved to Pitt Meadows, British Columbia in hopes to find something more from life. More excitement.1235912_527978267276038_199456673_n

And here we are, doing exactly that, bringing you excitement through your speakers.

Good music, Good vibrations, Good people.

Make Waves.

Peace.

0011 What do Cranes and Sex Slave Trafficking have in common?

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Annette LeBox and the discovery on sex trafficking. Originally Aired: 07-04-2013

annetteheadshot-copy1-150x150Annette LeBox was born in England in 1943 during the Second World War.  Her father, a Canadian soldier, was killed on D-Day at Juno Beach.  After the war, her mother, a British war bride, brought one-year-old Annette to Canada by ship, landing at Halifax’s Pier 41.

Annette was raised in Ontario, but during her twenties lived in Britain, Ireland and Spain before moving to her present home in British Columbia.  Through the sixties, she worked as a nurse’s aide, store clerk, bartender and bunny at a copycat Playboy Club, before becoming an elementary school teacher.  In 1994, she took a position as a Faculty Associate at Simon Fraser University, where she began Narrative Research under the mentorship of Dr. Ted Aoki.  It was through this work that she developed an interest in writing.  Soon after earning a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, she published her first picture book, Miss Rafferty’s Rainbow Socks.

Many of Annette’s books are inspired by nature she has to date written six books, and we will discuss them today, but what intrigues me is what took her across the seas to China to discover more about cranes, but led her into another direction all together, today we are going to talk about her love of cranes, her many books on crane adventures but also how a book of a different topic altogether came about from that trip to China.

CircleCranes_FINALAfter retiring from teaching, she decided to go to China to do some research on Cranes but found a world that would lead her to write a magical realism book that has shown a shameful light on modern day slavery.

In 1996, HarperCollins published Annette’s first picture book, Miss Rafferty’s Rainbow Socks.  Since then, Annette has had four picture books and two YA novels published.

A new children’s book “Peace is an Offering,” is available now and I will be interviewing Annette on this book and others in July.

Many of Annette’s books are inspired by nature.  She was a founding member of a local environmental group, the Pitt Polder Preservation Society, a major stakeholder in the conservation of two regional parks, Blaney Bog in Maple Ridge and Codd Wetland in Pitt Meadows.  These ecosystems harbour both Greater Sandhill cranes and wild salmon.

Annette divides her time between her home in Maple Ridge and her remote cabin in the Cariboo region of central British Columbia, where she enjoys cross-country running and skiing, skating, hauling brush, and reading by the fire while listening to the howling of the wolves.

Annette is married to Michael Sather, an avid birdwatcher and fellow ‘craniac.’
