Ignite Your Heart and Soul with Sara Troy and her guest Mark Springer, on air from January 30th
Examining the Extraordinary Relationship Between Words, Faith, and Science
“We live in a time when the word-created world has morphed into the information age — a time not only of great acceleration of written communication, but of expansion of the nature of language into both that of the logic of computers, and more-recently the unveiling of the biochemical words of DNA,” says Springer. In an interview, he can talk about:
What if we can uncover the DNA of words and find a genetic basis for our thoughts?
What if an algorithm can turn words into DNA and the DNA of someone like Shakespeare could be implanted or injected into people today?
What if there is a thought genome and we can edit out certain thoughts or ideas?
What if we could preserve our thoughts and memories and commercialize their sale?
What if books can be turned into living souls?
The concept that our lives give way over time to the words we have said, or that have been said about us; the memories others have of us
Flesh Becomes Words is a story about the technological breakthrough of finding a technology that can translate the natural “flesh” language of DNA into the words of the English language. It pits Science versus God as a way of not proving the existence of one at the expense of the other, but instead, shows how the facts in science reveal the truth of God’s words. “The truth of God’s words endures, while the observable facts of science are subject to change. Facts are from the visible sense-bound world. Truth comes from the eternal spiritual world. Flesh Becomes Words chronicles how scientific discoveries in the invisible molecular world, such as DNA and its applications in the science of life, are metaphors for underlying invisible spiritual truths.”
For example, the two strands of the double-helical structure of DNA are referred to as the sense and nonsense strands, or the coding and non-coding strands. This is representative of the spiritual strands of good and evil intertwined in our souls, with us being left with the decision of choosing which strand to express in the words we speak.
“The thought life is the essence of who we are as people,” shares Springer. “It is our soul, which is our mind. Our mind is often associated with our brain, but in Flesh Becomes Words, memory or thoughts have been discovered to have a genetic basis in the blood; the DNA of white blood cells. This is significant because it expands the mind or soul to being the intersection of body and spirit rather than a physiological attribute of the brain.”
Mark Springer has three decades of experience as a senior-level writer, and editor of technical and scientific documents. He also has crafted promotional content for the medical device, biotechnology, and life science industries. For the past seven years, he has been working for Gilead Sciences, including the last five as the manager and technical editor in labeling operations.
Prior to that, he served for two years, as the senior technical editor for BD Biosciences, editing all customer-read documents to meet factual, legal and regulation requirements. He received a Special Achievement Recognition Award there.
His career began as a senior technical writer and managing editor of all technical publications for change management software at a startup company. The biggest portion of his career consisted of 19 years at Life Technologies, where his positions varied from senior science writer in brand marketing, senior manager in public relations, to senior writer in technical communications.
He is the author of Flesh Becomes Words, his debut novel that blends science fiction with spirituality.
Along with a colleague, he developed an online magazine in the late 1990s called BioBeat Online Magazine. For about six years, he wrote articles for this publication and other trade publications that were associated with a life sciences company in the Bay Area. The articles were related to significant research and medical applications related to the use of DNA sequencing and genetic analysis technologies. He and his colleague won numerous Apex Publication awards for the content over this six-year period.
Springer graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a BA, double-majoring in Cell Biology and English Literature. He is deeply devoted to his faith, reading the Bible two to three hours daily. His book reflects both his science acumen and his dedication to faith. Born in Albany, NY, he now resides in San Mateo, California.

Raising Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guest JoAnn Grimlich, on air from January 9th
Did you know that one of the most important ways to help your child is simply by talking with them frequently starting as early as birth? The period of birth to age five is a crucial time for language development because at this age the spoken word develops naturally as a result of various types of stimulation. Brain growth, self-confidence, and vocabulary can be enhanced through talking, playing, and reading with your child every day. As parents and caregivers interact with their little one, they can use various strategies and techniques at home or when on the go to help their child develop communication skills. This all begins by having an understanding that children under the age of five experience the majority of their learning opportunities during regular daily routines and playtime. When you take the time to adjust your day-to-day interactions and your everyday routines that you are already engaging in, you can increase opportunities for speech and language development in your child and share special bonding moments together. So, let’s take advantage of daily routines that allow your child to understand and use language and get them ready for school success!!
Jo Ann Gramlich works as a Children’s Speech-Language Pathologist and uses her optimistic nature to empower children to be confident in their own voice so they can be heard and recognized out in the world. It all begins by Jo Ann teaching and helping children to tap into their imagination and skillful mind. She feels her philosophy of making learning fun and educational will bring out the best in children and help them explore their own creative abilities during the early years and beyond.
Jo Ann’s award-winning children’s books, Talk Play and Read with Me Mommy & Talk, Play, And Read With Me Daddy were inspired from her personal passion of working with children. She also published Talk, Play, And Read With Me Mommy Interactive eBook which includes interactive games filled with colorful animation, sound effects, and audio recordings that make a child’s learning experience enjoyable and fun. She continues to share her message with parents, caregivers, and educators to help bring awareness of the importance of early intervention and language development for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Your Health is Your Choice with Sara Troy and her guest Dr. Laura Graye, M.S., C.E.M. on air from January 30th
Dr. Laura Graye is a cutting-edge innovator and researcher in the burgeoning field of vibrational medicine. Her gentle heart and boundless energy guides clients from life-limiting beliefs and experiences to a healthier and more purposeful sense of being by utilizing her powerful intuitive capabilities, her knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and neuropsychology, and her comprehension of the quantum human experience. Laura has created hundreds of Medigraytions for her own conditions and those of her clients. She understands that to bridge the power of the subtle energy of consciousness to our physicality, we can use the brain’s ability to reorganize and recreate itself by forming new neural connections.
Laura holds a Master of Science from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, a Doctorate in Natural Medicine, and a Ph.D with a concentration in Quantum Medicine and Consciousness. She also holds a Certificate in Energy Medicine.
These medical meditations, aka “Medigraytions,” have been a long time dream of Dr. Laura Graye. As a freshman in college, Laura found herself with a serious case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. On the umpteenth trip from her car to check the locked door she was sure was still unlocked, Laura knew something was seriously off kilter in her brain. In an attempt to heal herself, she researched the metabolic pathways scientists believed at the time led to OCD. Working to design her own personal medical meditation, Laura studied the pathways created by the chemicals and receptor neurons and how a condition like OCD was created in the body physiologically, emotionally and mentally. Using her own mindful consciousness, Laura knew she could use subtle energy to deconstruct and reconstruct neural pathways in her brain and in the body’s messaging mechanism to the brain, called interoception. Over 30 days of nightly “Medigraytions” during which she meditatively blocked the excess serotonin receptors that were causing her OCD, calmed her neural pathways, and shifted her interoception, she cured herself of OCD. This was in 1986, 20 years before neural plasticity would be proven by science.
