TSM 17-15 Forster Children’s Comfort Cases with Rob Scheer

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Rob Scheer, on air from April 11th

“I remember the first day Amaya came to stay with us. She was four years old, moving into her third foster home and carrying her entire life in a white trash bag,” said Comfort Cases founder Rob Scheer.

“Having experienced foster care myself, I was disgusted to see a child forced to carry around their things like they were garbage. We took her out to buy new clothes and she picked out a Cinderella nightgown.”

“From that moment, I knew we needed to make a change.”

PROVIDING COMFORT AND SUPPORT FOR KIDS IN FOSTER CARE

Scheer founded Comfort Cases, a non-profit organization provides backpacks with essential items like toiletries, pajamas, activities and other items for children in foster care. The charity went from providing about 300 kits in 2013 to donating 25,000 to kids in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia foster care systems last year.

Rob is an outspoken advocate for children in foster care and speaks all over the country. He was recently honoured at the Family Equality Council Impact Awards in Los Angeles, Calif.

A LITTLE DIGNITY AND CARE GOES A LONG WAY, YOU ARE THE DIFFERENCE THAT IS NEEDED TO BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY.

Murder Of Talent: How Pop Culture Is Killing “IT” By Lisa Loving Dalton, Amazon #1 Bestselling Author

Behind-the-Scenes Tell-All About How Talented Artists and Athletes Are Mentally and Physically Killed by Badly Behaving Fans, Families, Teachers and Coaches Who Deify, Vilify and Crucify Our Stars. How She Found Healthier Ways to Mentor the Talented and Bring Healing to Our Culture In the midst of award season, Lisa Loving Dalton, a forty-year veteran of the entertainment industry, dares to pull back the curtain of tinsel town to examine some very gritty facts. What stands out in her new book Murder Of Talent: How Pop Culture Is Killing “IT” is the no-holds-barred assay she makes on the fans, the families, mentors and the talented ones revealing the dangers that exist. An easy and dynamic read, with something for everyone, this part memoir, part political diatribe is also a master class for training for Peak Performance in art, athletics, politics and life. Dalton puts us all on trial for the death and destruction of our stars, our Dalton puts us all on trial for the death and destruction of our stars, our wannabes, ourselves and our culture. She calls for the arrest of some and even judges herself guilty of self-violence for allowing a famous coach to destroy her film-acting career. Then, with empathy and wisdom, Lisa gently steps us along a path to redemption with tips for each of us on how to stop the metaphoric and actual bloodshed, leading us to happier, healthier lives. Endorsed by a Clinical Psychologist and a Tony Award-winning Producer, with fore-word by noted scholar/author Dr. Sharon Carnicke, Dalton courageously shares painful true stories of how she and fellow artists were indoctrinated in PTSD-inducing techniques.

The knife is further twisted when we understand this destruction is still propagated by academia and manipulative super coaches, some making over a million dollars a year as they drain the pockets of penniless actors and a few super-stars to boot. No wonder stars are killing themselves with sex, drugs and other bad behavior. Perhaps the most publicly provocative aspect of this book is how children are traumatized into denying their talent by parents, teacher’s and peers. Parents fear economic and social instability, and even attach homophobia to talent, refusing to support their children in non-math/science careers, forcing them away from what they love and into other fields where they suffer, fail and take a toll on society. Dalton reveals what it takes to survive humiliation in the classroom, harassment and jealousy from friends, self-doubt and parental disapproval. It is rare that any adult passes a single day without repeated exposure to entertainment.

229544_218054118213551_3838855_nDalton reminds us that since ancient times, storytellers have led the critical task of unifying and uplifting the culture. Yet learning how to uptake that noble task is at risk. Politically, the arts, while having scientifically demonstrated outstanding economic and health benefits, are being systemically eradicated from curricula. Murder Of Talent reveals the cost, the cause and a cure for the negative impact pop culture and its icons have on each other. It challenges the reader to reflect on their own role in society’s badly behaving celebrities while calling on coaches and parents to step up their game to offer higher quality mentorship. For those with talent, it asks them to go beyond their fears, demand respect and learn how to survive being deified, vilified or crucified by the public. “We need talent now as much as our tribal ancestors did when they carved masks on the cave walls. It’s time to stop the murder of talent and start healing the wounds of our culture through the arts.” Lisa Loving Dalton, National Michael Chekhov Association Master Acting Teacher, Director, Filmmaker, John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Trainer, Coach, Athlete, Amazon #1 Best-Selling Author of Falling For The Stars: A Stunt Gal’s Tattle Tales, has shared her performing, leadership and teaching talents across the world. She has appeared in over 200 films, TV shows and commercials. An avid motorcyclist, golfer, diver.

Hiding in a Cave of Trunks: A Prominent Jewish Family’s Century in Shanghai and Internment in a WWII POW camp. Against an impressive historical background, China-born Ester Benjamin Shifren relates the saga of her family’s century-long existence in Shanghai, the city often referred to as “The Paris of the East,” and details the culture and tribulations of the colorful multi-ethnic population. In the early1840s a vessel brought the Benjamins from India to Shanghai, where they prospered for five generations. Some members of the family achieved high-level diplomatic positions. Owners of prize-winning horses, the family even conducted business at the race- track, sometimes on a handshake! World War II abruptly terminated their privileged lifestyle. In 1943, the Japanese interned the Benjamins for three years in a POW camp. Along with other internees, they endured great hardship and loss of all worldly possessions. In 1948, shortly before the Communist takeover, the Benjamins relocated to Hong Kong, where the ensuing Korean War embargo eventually caused their irreparable financial collapse. In 1951 the family immigrated to Israel. Ester served two years in the army, married a South African in 1957, and spent thirty-six years in South Africa. After spending five years in Canada Ester immigrated to the USA in 1997 and now lives in Los Angeles, California. Ester Benjamin Shifren is an author, artist, musician, and dynamic international speaker. In 2005, in England, she was featured in the BBC1 program “We’ll Meet Again,” and was a guest lecturer for several days at the Imperial War Museum.

A POEM BY ESTER.

How life changed overnight, and more, of which I’ll speak.
So recently from China, with little to our name,
Depleted of well-being—the enemy had no shame!
First, Israel and tented, then moving to a hut,
So many people idle, most doors to work were shut.
New roofs of tin still missing, our ceilings were just wood,
A Heavy rain fell early—we did all that we could!
Pouring in it drenched us, some neighbors from a tent
Piled in—that day all old umbrellas were truly heaven sent!
Some songs we sang in English were mimicked, hardly fun…
We all spoke different languages in 1951!
The army came to help us, we needed tons of aid!
The government took note, and important changes made.
More or less a year went by, we got the tiniest place
On roof top of a building, the view its saving grace.
We bartered our possessions to pay the purchase price,
We traded fridge for icebox, and daily purchased ice
From vendor (horse and buggy!)—who shouted out his wares!
We heaved ice block, both up and down, more than one hundred stairs!
But we were young and healthy, and never said a word,
Just happy to have shelter, and freedom of a bird.
The next best thing to being like birds that at our level flew,
Was being at top of mountain with the most breathtaking view!
And soon we started working, in different styles and ways,
And started feeling better with how we spent our days.
And now I think I’ll end this piece of memoir that’s in rhyme,
And leave continuation for another day and time.

TSM 17-09 John Krotec Speaks on the Greenzone Hero & Bravo 748

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest John Krotec, on air from February 28th

unnamed

We encourage every business in America to join GreenZone Hero ranks.  A GreenZone Hero “Veteran-Friendly” Business honors veterans and themselves.  They have a high standard of commitment to others AND to the US economy. They know it is the “right thing to do.”

Our Motivation

To create commerce for American businesses that honor and serve our veterans.  To build sustainable residual funding for our Nonprofit Ambassadors.

We Believe that appreciation and recognition and commerce matters!  The veterans who selflessly served our Country deserve it and the businesses that provide veteran friendly goods and services deserve it, too!

We serve those who serve by providing a platform for them to connect with one another.  GreenZone Hero provides tangible recognition and appreciation and commerce for both businesses and veterans – a place where veterans in particular and, all Americans in general, can find, select, and show their support by patronizing businesses that openly and proudly “do the right thing“!

We employ, serve, and are even a Veteran-owned company.

aaeaaqaaaaaaaai8aaaajgy4ntdhzwfjlwy0mdqtndlizc1in2q1lwqzytmxndu3yjk1nwJohn Krotec.  At 11 years old while on a neighborhood sleepover, John was sexually assaulted by an older boy. Blaming himself and frightened by physical threats, John hid the traumatic event for over 40 years – never talking about it with anyone.

Periodically over that time, he used alcohol to soothe his pain and to numb himself from the sickening memory. An automobile accident in 2012 not only changed his life but caused the trauma to resurface. Immediately after the accident, John’s life began to spiral out of control.
Episodes of anger and resentment led to the selling of his small business and to the disintegration of his 20-year marriage. John was out of control. His overspending and anger led his wife Ann to begin divorce proceedings, and by Christmas of 2015, John was in a crisis situation.
One particularly bad evening, he sought help from a suicide prevention hotline which led him to individual counseling and 41-weeks of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. He also visited a neurologist who was able to treat his medical condition, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with CBD’s, hemp-based prescription drugs.

With a firm spiritual belief, talk-therapy, neurofeedback, and with hard work, John’s life and marriage is on the mend. Using his new focus, he also created an innovative company, GreenZone Hero, that changes the way veteran-commerce is viewed by American businesses. Additionally, his Task Force Zen project (currently in the planning stage) will help those who have suffered traumatic events find programs that will help them recover without the stigma often associated with trauma.

Bravo748 and GreenZone Hero are teaming up to honor all branches of American Combat Veterans and Gold Star Families. As companies connected to serving and working with Veterans, our hope is to share publicly and collectively, the truth of what it means to pay the ultimate sacrifice, laying one’s life down for friends. Military combat men and women and their families live with courage, commitment, and character each and every day.
