TSM22-37. Natalie Zett Flower in the River

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Natalie Zett, on air from September 6th

Natalie Zett wrote a book where the main character is not a person, but a tragedy that few have heard of: The Eastland Disaster of 1915.
But what happens when you’re innocently investigating your family’s history, and the supernatural intervenes? That happened without my seeking or wanting this, and I file that under the “unintended consequences” category. Some things I learned from my book writing adventures—when you awaken the dead, expect the unexpected.

A ship chartered for Western Electric’s yearly company picnic capsized in the Chicago River, killing 844. To this day, only a few have heard of The Eastland Disaster. I’d like to help change that with my book, Flower in the River .It is all about the tragedy of the Eastland Disaster of 1915 in downtown Chicago and the benefits of exploring family history. The unexpected consequences of writing about family history, and how to talk to the dead and to have them talk back.
How can your family history research can help the living. Exploring your own life through the lives of your ancestors Why do you say Supernatural occurrences are normal for genealogists
What’s (Working) Class Got to Do with it? Why are some tragedies, such as the Titanic, remembered and extolled, while others, such as the Eastland Disaster are forgotten? I have some theories.
Memento mori, that is, remember that you are a future dead person and consider what you want to leave behind for those who will want to know you 100 years (or longer) from now. Our genealogical identities are often more complex than we realize.

RG22-37. Heather Dugan on Divorce & Kids

Raising our gifted children with Sara Troy and her guest Heather Dugan, on air from September 6th

“Children can move forward, and parents must be good role models for their kids. This can turn what could be a devastating experience into an opportunity for growth and a fulfilling future. Use your strength of honesty with your teenagers. Being honest with them about the situation helps to normalize what is happening and encourages them to be honest with you. Provide plenty of opportunities for them to express themselves and to talk,” believes Dugan, a resilient single mom of three. Heather’s devastating isolation following multiple family deaths and a lengthy divorce sparked a personal quest: to solve her own loneliness. She is the founder of Cabernet Coaches®, social access and self-betterment group for women.

QS22-36. An End to Suffering with Dr Nancy Wiley

Quantum Spirituality with Sara Troy and her guest Dr Nancy Wiley, on air from August 30th

Suffering is seemingly universal. Every day, as we are bombarded with reasons to be fearful- an ongoing global pandemic, environmental challenges, wars, civil unrest, mass shootings, poverty, homelessness, rising gas prices, etc.- we have an important choice to make.  Will we let the fear consume us, or can we find peace by surrendering to Divine Trust? Scientist, Spiritual Researcher, and Author Dr. Nancy Wiley, D.D.S., provides a simple guide for dissolving stress and despair in Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Your Suffering and Find Your Way Home.

Dr. Nancy Wiley, D.D.S. is a highly trained scientist who is an expert in the physical body as she is in the subtle body and spiritual realms.

After having received her B.A. in Biology from the University of Maryland, Dr. Wiley went on to receive her M.S. in Nutrition and her D.D.S. and a Certificate of Orthodontics from Columbia University. She also received her Diplomat to the American Board of Orthodontics and Qualified Orofacial Myology Certification. She has done research at the Biology Department of UMBC and Columbia University as well as Johns Hopkins Medical School and is the publisher of multiple scientific research papers. She has practiced clinical orthodontics for more than 27 years.

Concurrently, Dr. Wiley has immersed herself in the study of meditation and the subtle energy body for her entire adult life. Since the age of 16, she has practiced various forms of meditation, including Transcendental Meditation, Holosync (brain wave entrainment), and guided meditations with many teachers, including Jeddah Mali, her most treasured teacher and to whom she attributes the attainment of Unity Consciousness. She is also a Reiki Master and expert in several energy healing modalities, including EFT, Spring forest Qigong, and Diamond Feng Shui.

As her experience and confidence in navigating through her inner realm continued, Dr. Wiley was able to reach a state whereby she no longer suffered, no matter what life presented. She became certain that there was a Divine Presence that wanted everyone to know and trust It, and her Divine Trust became unshakeable.

On February 14, 2018, the urgency to share this message accelerated in the aftermath of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida where Dr. Wiley lives and works. One of her patients and others close to her were killed in the shooting, and her community was suffering terribly. Dr. Wiley knew that Divine Trust could help ease their pain and suffering and committed herself to that cause. She now dedicates herself to igniting a massive shift in human consciousness, using Divine Trust as the cornerstone.   In her first book, Divine Trust: A Practical Guide to End Your Suffering and Find Your Way Home, she lays out a blueprint that anyone can easily follow to achieve the incredible state of Divine Trust and, thereby, be free of suffering.

C22-16 Ruth Yunker is an expert at aging vivaciously.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Ruth Yunker, on air from April 19th

I am an author who has written three books. Two on traveling solo to Paris. And the third, Baby I’m the Boss of Me, tells how I find myself at 72 feeling, better than ever, at the top of my game, in fact! I’ve traveled widely, lived in many places, raised two children, and am finding out that getting older is not the end of the world. In fact, it is the beginning of an amazing journey, this unique part of our lives, and by staying curious and open, by nurturing your sense of humor, it becomes an amazing journey. Certainly, it has for me.

We discuss aging, traveling solo, health, and exercise, humor, personal bravery, beauty and fashion at every age, parenting, and the most important factor to aging vivaciously.

She’s been writing for thirty-five years, and has published everything from literary short stories, magazine articles, newspaper columns, and book reviews, to an NPR show called “Every day is Astrological”, and a cartoon strip “Zoe’s Voice”, about single parenting…

Ruth Yunker has written two books, in equal parts travel memoir and humor. Me, Myself and Paris and Paris, I’ve Grown Accustomed to Your Ways are both about surviving Paris as a single woman whose French is spoken with a Belgian accent (teenage years lived in Brussels), and who feels compelled to smile at strangers, even knowing such behavior is way outside the bounds of Parisian politesse.

In her latest book Baby, I’m the Boss of Me she takes on the joy and humor of aging, defining it clearly and precisely as the most powerful time of one’s life, should one choose to make it so.

Ruth Yunker had a peripatetic childhood and has continued the pattern as an adult. She is well-traveled and acutely attuned to both the gifts and foibles of her fellow man. As a result, she can say hello with the inflection and accent of a native anywhere she finds herself, and sometimes can even tell a joke successfully in French.

She currently lives in Los Angeles, California. She has two grown children, two divorced husbands, is in between pets, and is about to give up the big SUV for a smaller, more battered car to survive the appalling traffic issues in the gently aging Los Angeles.

Ruth Yunker is vivacious and intelligent, opinionated and funny, an easy-going, charming, and witty storyteller, who brings humor, her personal history, and the power of her convictions to every book she writes, and every audience to whom she speaks.
