Professionally, Valerie worked in film/video & radio as a production manager/producer for over 30 years with her father and brother. Some of the media projects she worked on were with Hanna-Barbera, Putnam Berkley, and Turner Entertainment. 

When their father passed away in 2011, she and her brother settle down into a quiet life of caregiving for their mother and his wife.

After a 14-year hiatus from media production, she returned to hosting two podcasts, co-wrote a book, and enjoys meeting and interviewing new people for LionHawk Entertainment’s Legacy Keepsake services. 

Currently, Valerie Flynn is an author, podcaster and learner. “Writers of Meaning: An Anthology on Community” was born online, by, about and for community.  Estuary is a small group discussion protocol that facilitates deeper, more meaningful conversation.  Two pieces in the book explain how it developed and points to how to create your own Estuary.  

Valerie wants to connect with other creatives, lifelong learners and memento makers.  Her aim is to pursue what’s meaningful and cultivate connections.  

She“Writers of Meaning: An Anthology on Community” was a co-producer of the “Words of Freedom” radio show for 9 years. Inspired from the “Words of Freedom ~ Men of History” Living History Audio-book.

I celebrate the rising wave of commonsense leadership—so often women rolling up sleeves—focused on survival and shared thriving. Stop pointing fingers; own your vote, your voice, your daily choices. Support solutions already in motion, from environmental accountability to citizen-driven checks and balances. Be part of the change you can participate in, not the promises you wait for. Make or find new “cheese,” share it widely, and leave the chronic blamers to their own lessons. The tide has turned because we’ve turned—toward calm, conscientious, collaboration, and the courage to build a future that feeds us all.

I was so enamored by pure being when I was a child- and would participate in observation as a habit- I later connected the dots that there was no clinging or aversion within reason and as an adult – I became a Spiritual Guide, Reiki master Healer- Usui, Musician, author with 7 projected books as of 2025; they are “My Own Religion: The Power of Love”, “The Nothingness of Love: A Buddhist Book of Poetry”, “The Reform of the Education System”, “The Reiki Bible: A Guide to Reiki Living” , to come “ My Work in Business as a Spiritual Guide”, “A Book on Saints” , “ROES Bless: A course for teachers” and “A Starseed Collection of Thoughts” ! I resonate deeply with my heart and my character. I have to being a master healer for the situations of you all to receive my benefit, which is my pleasure! Right here on SelfDiscoveryWisdom.com — well, it’s flu season, isn’t it? Everyone seems to have a cold, and yes, I’m just getting over one myself. My shows lately have been a bit on the “stuffed-up” side, but life goes on. You take what you need to take, and on we go with the show. That’s what life is about, getting on with it. Still, we have to remember the importance of rest: to recoup, review, and renew ourselves. Unfortunately, rest hasn’t been much of an option for me lately; there’s simply too much happening. I’ve had to push through, stealing little moments of pause where I can.

Sometimes we just need to say, “You know what? Postpone.” Give ourselves permission to nurture, to chicken-soup our souls back to health. Whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual, we need time to heal and regroup. Despite my best oregano defenses, I caught this cold from my adorable grandchildren — my little petri dishes who bring home every germ from daycare. Add to that a few sleepless nights helping with the arrival of the new baby, and well, my immune system waved a little white flag.

So here I am, balancing between pushing through and pulling back. I’m heading off for a few days soon to see family, friends, laughter, and no shows, a change that will serve as rest in its own way. Between shows, interviews, and upcoming public talks, I’m booked through November and already scheduling January. Finding balance becomes a dance: listening to when to rest, when to push, and when to simply breathe.

I’ve learned that life doesn’t stop for a cold or a throbbing toe. You do what you can, take what you need, and get on with it. Still, I’ve also learned to slow down — not to a full stop, because that’s harder to recover from, but enough to stay steady. Sometimes that means rearranging, rescheduling, and letting go of what isn’t urgent. It’s flu season; people get sick, shows get postponed, and that’s okay. We just adjust, lighten up, and keep flowing. Flow is life — whether it’s energy, breath, or purpose, and when it’s blocked, we feel it everywhere. So, I listen. I breathe. I heal. And I keep moving forward, maybe a little slower, but always with gratitude, resilience, and a hot toddy in hand.
