TM22-07 Kenny Xu, An Inconvenient Asian Minority.

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guests Kenny Xu, on air February 15th

From a journalist on the frontlines of the Students for Fair Admission (SFFA) v. Harvard case comes a probing examination of affirmative action, the false narrative of American meritocracy, and the attack on Asian American excellence with its far-reaching implications?from seedy test-prep centers to gleaming gifted-and-talented magnet schools, to top colleges and elite business, media, and political positions across America

The Asian American minority, transcending its impoverished history, has quietly assumed mastery of the nation’s technical and intellectual machinery and become essential to the workforce that makes modern American life possible. Yet, they’ve been forced to do so in the face of policy proposals?written in the name of diversity?that serve to exclude them from the upper ranks of the elite.

In An Inconvenient Minority, journalist Kenny Xu, who has covered the sensational Students for Fair Admission (SFFA) v. Harvard case since its inception, traces elite America’s longstanding unease about a minority potentially upending them in the race for group status. Their policy proposals, such as eliminating standardized testing, doling out racial preferences to non-Asian minorities, inflaming anti-Asian stereotypes, and lumping Asians into “privileged” categories despite their deprived historical experiences have forced Asian Americans to fight back?a battle given a boots-on-the-ground perspective here.

Going beyond the Harvard case, Xu unearths the skewed logic that has had ripple effects throughout the US, from Mayor Bill de Blasio’s attempted makeover of the New York City Specialized School programs to the battle over diversity quotas in Google’s and Facebook’s progressive epicenters to the rise of Asian American political activism in response to unfair perceptions and admission practices.

For too long, Asian Americans have stood in the shadows, operating the machinery in the back. But their time is now. An Inconvenient Minority chronicles the political and economic repression and renaissance of a long-ignored racial identity group?and how they are central to reversing America’s cultural decline and preserving the dynamism of the free world.

Kenny Xu is the lead insider on the Harvard case and a commentary writer for The Federalist, The Washington Examiner, The Daily Signal, and Quillette. Xu has spoken on the consequences of the Harvard case and its identity politics ideology in front of groups as diverse as the nationally renowned Pacific Legal Foundation to the Boston Rally for Education Rights to the all-Black Connecticut Parents Union. His commentary has propelled him to interviews with NPR and features in the New York Times Magazine. He lives in Washington, DC.

Kenny Xu, is the author of the new book, An Inconvenient Minority: The Attack on Asian American Excellence and the Fight for Meritocracy. He is the President of Color Us United, which advocates for a color-blind society.

GV22-07 Sarajane Giere. My Pilot: A Story of War, Love, ALS.

Our Global Veterans with Sara Troy and her guest Sarajane Giere, on air from February 15th

Sarajane Giere, author of the new critically-acclaimed memoir My Pilot: A Story of War, Love, ALS

For many, the 1960s and 1970s were turbulent times in the United States. For Sarajane Giere, it was a time when she fell in love with her college sweetheart who became a pilot. She lived life from 30,000 feet in the air even when they were 10,000 miles apart. Her book, My Pilot: A Story of War, Love, ALS is a stirring memoir that touches hearts and allows us into the lives of a couple who leaned on each other during tough times in war and health – and who treasured their time together, raising a family, and seeing the world.

“I am so pleased that this book has received strong, positive attention from reviewers and has won a number of book awards,” says author Giere. “I set out to not only write a tribute to a wonderful man whose legacy lives on, but to honor a historical era, the value of service and courage, and what it takes to have a marriage that lasts more than a half-century.”

My Pilot has won three literary awards: The Independent Press Award, The Military Writers Society of America’s Silver Metal Award, and the NYC Big Book Award.

·         How she handled hearing news that her husband’s plane went down –twice– in Vietnam.

·         What it was like to be a military wife during wartime.

·         What the turbulent 1960s were really like during the Vietnam War.

·         Advice for military families welcoming back veterans or coping with PTSD.

·         What it was like to be wed to a pilot during flying’s Golden Era at Pan Am and Delta.

·         How she helped her husband live with ALS – and the toll of caregiving.

Giere offers a uniquely intimate glimpse into the life of a military wife as she tells the story of her fighter pilot husband, Bernie, a Vietnam Veteran who flew 214 combat missions in the war With soaring love and explicit honesty, she recounts the terror of the Vietnam years and the lifelong sacrifices that affected her pilot’s life and death.

Giere, a spunky military wife with a keen knack for storytelling, recounts her fighter pilot’s eventful Vietnam years through his handwritten letters and moving personal accounts. The harrowing shoot-down in enemy territory, the joy upon learning he had a son, and the loneliness of separation are among the many subjects covered. All the while, Sarajane worked with a local police detective to uncover evidence that brought one of her neighbors to justice. With a knack for detail, she recounts the uncertain years with Pan Am, and her husband Bernie’s missions with the NY Air National Guard’s world-class 106th Rescue and Recovery Wing for 25 years.

The love that brought this intrepid couple together during their college years can be felt through the words on every page. Their bond remained strong for 52 years, helping them grasp the courage they needed upon learning of Bernie’s ALS diagnosis later in life. In telling their story, she honors her family that includes the military community, and the nation that she holds dear to her heart.

“A woman recalls her life – never dull and sometimes terrifying – as an Air Force wife in this memoir. … And while of course she did not serve in Vietnam herself, she relates Bernie’s experiences, through conversations and letters, so vividly that readers receive a captivating peek into a soldier’s life there. This is an endearing reminiscence, a kind of love letter from the author to her husband, both sweet and wise. An affectionate recollection of a memorable marriage.”   – Kirkus Reviews

“Whatever happened we were stronger together.” That line defines this love story of a couple whose marriage embodied the vows of “in sickness and in health.” Sarajane Giere’s marriage to a fighter pilot survived not only the regular trials and tribulations of a typical marriage, but also separation during the Vietnam War, furloughs due to mass airline layoffs in the 80’s and finally, a terrible diagnosis of ALS. Through it all, this story read like a handbook, or a successful marriage. Sarajane writes candidly about how love and respect from each partner only strengthens the bonds of marriage. In the end, you know that every trial they underwent, they underwent it together.”–D. Bertino, 5-Star Amazon Review

IG22-07 Kristi Pederson Igniting Your Soul Power

Ignite your hart and soul with Sara Troy and her guest Kristi Pederson, on air from February 15th

My mission on this planet is to help people stand in their own power. I want to see people claim their power and understand how beautiful they are.

Kristi Pederson is an internationally known psychic medium, author, and public speaker who specializes in helping people discover who they are so they can stand in their own power and live the life their soul intended them to live.

Kristi began her own journey into the world of metaphysics in 1976 but in 2010 made a commitment to herself to heal no matter what that looked like including body, mind, and spirit in her current life as well as past-life trauma affecting this life. That also meant going public with her gifts of being a psychic medium and Reiki Master. She has never looked back.

Her first book was published in 2010 and titled An Extraordinary Life. Another major step in healing was to write and publish her second book in 2019 titled We Are Not Alone…my extraterrestrial contact. Shortly after her book was released, she was contacted by a film company proposing a documentary about her experiences with alien contact. Filming was completed in 2021 and should be ready for release late summer 2022.

While in sessions with clients, Kristi noticed a pattern. More and more people were having paranormal experiences and didn’t know what to do with what was happening to them. Those experiences included contact with deceased loved ones, psychic predictions, or even alien contact. Mostly clients were just tired of living a life they thought others expected them to live.  They were ready for change in their lives but didn’t know how to make those changes or even what those changes might be. This prompted the writing of her third book Between Earth and Heaven…a beginner’s guide to living a spiritual life.

Kristi compassionately works with individuals to help them understand how they got to where they are today and how to make permanent, healthy, and happy changes in their lives and have the courage to step into the power that is theirs waiting to be claimed.

As a public speaker she addresses groups of all sizes with the same compassion she has for individuals.

She has been featured on several podcasts including Meeting the Masters out of Sedona, AZ, Follow the Woo out of Los Angeles, CA, Bloop out of Omaha, NE, and Breathe Love and Light out of CT.  She has been speaking publicly for more than 30 years. 22-07 Why do we LOVE an Enemy so much?

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from February 15th Art by Natasha.

Super Heroes, fighting the bad guys, warding off evil, there are so many TV shows movies games, etc, that build the superhero up to solving all our problems. There is a major flaw in this, it is feeding the need for an enemy, someone evil to fight, when the fight is always within us and in what we create around us.

We get excited about creating or supporting an enemy. Why does someone or a particular party get so much attention for instigating discord, hate, fear, ego, and lack, when we have so many good people doing so much for humanity? Is it an avoidance of our own discord, our own inner imbalance? and that it is easy to fight externally than internally.

Is it not sexy enough to have a more peaceful solutional view on life? do we love living in constant turmoil? Do we think we are thriving on all this imbalance? Where is the gain? all it does is cause a physical, mental, and spiritual dis-ease that leads to illness and a lack of everything in our lives.

THERE IS A BIG INTEREST IN KEEPING CERTAIN PEOPLE DOWN, EDUCATIONALLY, FINANCIALLY, SPIRITUALLY, AND ACCORDING TO RACE. THE ENEMIES IN POWER DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO RISE UP BECAUSE THEY WILL LOSE CONTROL. FEAR SELLS, DIVISION SELLS FEAR, AND IF WE WANT TO COMBAT THAT, WE NEED TO BE RISE UP TO A HIGHER FREQUENCY OF LOVE, PURPOSE, AND ENLIGHTENMENT AND BECOME THE UNITED HERO’S THAT SAY NO MORE. FOR THAT YOU HAVE TO SET YOURSELF FREE FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

I interview people who have chosen to walk away from the world of turbulence and for their sanity, health and abundance, have chosen to live a more enriching life that not only gives them more purpose and fulfillment but also serves the whole of society in a far greater manner.

If we need a hero so much, why do we not see the true heroes all around us and that lie deep within us? There are so many who have fought the inner battle, the outer infliction of pain and anguish, but because they went through it in courage, strength, and a willingness to be free, they are now able to live in wonderful possibilities and some awesome abilities; they thrive today and shine bright and shows us how to do the same.

So seed the seeds of love, water nurture and shine loving warmth on those seeds, and become the fruit of love and light in our own life and in the lives of others. We have enough enemies, there is enough hate in the world, and to much division, it is time to see the hero’s of light and love and appreciate them for being that hope, that encouragement, being that teacher and shining so bright in inspiration, for these are the true hero’s and there is a hero within you, just waiting for you to ignite.
