TSM22-52. Spike Adams, “The Mask” a Sons Message

Their Story with Sara Troy and her guest Spike Adams, on air from December 20th

“A fitting tribute to the teenager who could see so clearly and feel so deeply, The Mask is an allegory that teachers and parents will welcome as a starting point for discussions about many of the most valuable and elusive of human traits—love, courage, integrity, and kindness. Beautifully illustrated by Rohan Daniel Eason.”

— BookLife Prize from Publishers Weekly

The Mask
written by Clayton Marshall Adams and illustrated by Rohan Daniel Eason, tells the story of a disfigured man who is bullied by the local villagers until the forest offers him beauty in exchange for a future unknown service, whenever it is demanded by The Mask. The Mask is an allegorical tale that touches upon our human frailties, inspires us to find our inner truth, and dares us to be more courageous than we can imagine. Beautifully illustrated and designed, the award-winning book The Mask compels a reader to ponder important social issues such as bullying and body image as well as the meaning of beauty and truth.

They say that the message Clayton conveys, quite eloquently and quite powerfully, is something that is spoken of in the Bible, by mystics, and by philosophers and poets. What is that message? (“Be kind to others. It’s as simple as that. It does not matter whether someone is different than you in terms of color, culture, religion, or sexual orientation”)

How old was Clayton when he wrote this story?

Clayton ends his story in a very unique way,Clayton’s the intentions behind the ending was he wanted to compel people to have a discussion about many things — the meaning of a committed relationship, inner beauty vs outer beauty, how people are treated, the impact of bullying on someone’s life)

Dressions Dance by Leslé Honoré Poetry

  ·

It doesn’t always look like darkness

Disheveled

Discombobulated

Sometimes it looks like dance

Like joy

Like syncopated rhythms

Like grace

Like choreography channelling

Ancestor’s dreams

Powerful

Successful

Enviable

Sometimes we get so good

At the act

At the entertainment

At wearing the mask

That we can fool ourselves

A little bit

Long enough for the public

To believe

That we

Have it all together

That the airbrush portrait

Is real

The Instagram smile

Is permanent

The the steps aren’t automatic

That happiness 24/7 isn’t toxic

But the truth is

Living is hard

Lonely is real

Grief is too heavy to hold

People don’t check

On the strong friends

The smiling friends

The dancing friends

The friends who look like

They are on top of the world

Looks are often liars

Hopelessness can grow

Like weeds in the most beautiful

Garden

It doesn’t always look like

Darkness

And it’s so hard to say the words

Out loud

“I need help

This is too much

I don’t want to try anymore”

Because we clap for stunning

Clap for the performance

And ignore those in pain

It doesn’t always look like darkness

Sometimes it just looks like

Our reflection

In the Mirror

Sometimes it’s just too hard

To stay in the light

If life feels like it is too much

to take one more step

let someone hold your hand while you walk

You aren’t alone

You aren’t the only one

I’ve had those thoughts too

You are not alone

I promise

Suffering In Silence

How To Be A Beacon Of Hope To Those Precious In Our Lives

-Relationship Expert/Author Heather Dugan Available For Insights-

This week, fans of The Ellen Degeneres Show and So You Think You Can Dance were shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of beloved Dancer/DJ/Actor/Producer Stephen “Twitch” Boss. The public acknowledgment of his passing by suicide has once again brought to the forefront discussion around mental illness and depression.

Acclaimed author and relationship expert Heather Dugan (The Friendship Upgrade) is offering insights into how we can endeavor to pay better attention to the signs of depression in our friends and loved ones, especially as we come upon a holiday season.

“Stephen “Twitch” Boss’s death has a personal impact on the many who watched him dance across their screens at home and online throughout the years. He exuded joy. To learn that, in the end, he wasn’t able to access that joy within himself is shocking and frightening”, says Dugan.

“The strongest amongst us are often the ones who lack a safe place to download the very basic trials of life, and we need this kind of connection to feel fully human… we have to share our weaknesses to access true strength. None of us can fully know the life experience of another, and some carry far more than we know. Real connection requires more than pleasantries, so create conversations.”

Heather Dugan is available to offer insights and important tips on how we can help those grappling with emotional darkness and supportive thoughts for those who are struggling, despite the challenges of mental illness often being silent or hidden from the view of others.

22-51. Consciousness Rising

Sara’s View of Life, with Sara Troy, on air from December 13th

Consciousness, what is it, how do we access it, and why is it so important to rise up to it. Without a conscience, we have no compass; we can not tell wrong from right and do not know kindness, caringness, or compassion. A higher consciousness is tuned in to a higher frequency and vibration, and the higher we go, the more we know, and the more we care about each other.

You hear of people doing atrocities to another, they can not have a conscious, and therefore no heart connection, and most certainly, no opening up to a higher power, for a closed heart can not hear the wisdom from the higher forces.

Knowing your reason for being here, and living in your purpose and playing your unique instrument, is truly an illuminating and inspiring heart felt way to live. How do you get yourself to this state of being? by stepping in to that conscoiusness of enlightenment and heart soul connection, we become the solution, not only to our our own lives but also the lives of others.

It all starts with opening up your heart, that is your compass, it is where love projects from, and it is your generator, so open that heart by seeing all there is to love about yourself, this world, nature, childen, animals, the sky, the wind, the sun and waters, for all of it when you truly decide to be come engaged, will open you up and you will recieve the love and enlightenment, the visions of possiblities, and an excitment to rise up to that higher energy of a loving conscoiusness.

May you rise up to your loving consciouness and radiat from that love to one and all.
