My love, don’t let your skin become so thick that nothing can hurt you anymore
getting wounded is part of the experience the scars you collect are all part of your story
take off your armor and give vulnerability a chance to paint your naked form feel the sunlight on your shoulders
let the wind move through your hair give your tears a chance to be counted allow us to be swept up in your smile you see,
my love,
you weren’t born to be hidden behind a towering wall you were formed out of an ancient whisper to become a natural wonder where we all visit to listen to the songbirds sing through the pines of your evergreen beauty you were given this skin to be kissed softly –
don’t let it grow scales you were given your eyes to reflect starlight –
don’t close them to keep us from seeing your soul you were given your hands to lace inside another hand don’t keep them constantly folded in your lap my love,
I know this world can be a sharpened spear that will often pierce you
but
when given a choice bleeding is always better than apathy
someday when we meet in the moving cosmic river that exists on the crawling fringe of everything
let’s take turns washing each other’s scars while saying the same prayer over and over
“I got this wound for caring and I got this one for having an open heart but that is the cost that comes from being a work of sacred art.”
Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guestDr. Vermelle D. Greene
Dr. Vermelle D. Greene, author of Please Teach Me Like I’m a Boy! Ten Steps to His Success in School and in Life. Greene is the Executive of the Boys Initiative. Boys are in crisis and continue to fall behind girls in academics and readiness for college or careers. Boys learn differently, and educators must be willing to change instructional methods to meet their learning and developmental needs. Otherwise, many young men will continue to fail in school and, subsequently, in life.
This book sheds light on the issue through the eyes and experiences of Zachary, an eight-year-old boy who is anxiously anticipating going to the next grade. Encouraged by his parents, he writes a letter to his new teacher, asking for her help to make his next school year better than his last. While introducing the concept of brain-based gender differences, this primer offers educators more than 150 researched-based strategies and practical ideas that will help boys (and girls!) achieve more academically, socially, and morally. The objective is to motivate teachers to explore the plethora of available resources and learn how to best educate our boys. In addition to those print -materials, teachers who are followers of Christ are encouraged to use their spiritual resources which will make an eternal difference for all the extraordinary boys like Zachary that God brings to their classes every year.
Vermelle D. Greene has been a schoolteacher and administrator for more than 45 years. She holds degrees from Dickinson College, George Washington University, and International Seminary. After retiring, she founded S.A.C.R.E.D. Life Academy for Boys, a Christian school focused on building character and accommodating the educational needs of boys. Dr. Greene is currently an educational consultant and lives in southern Maryland with her husband, Vernon. They have two married children and six amazingly beautiful grandchildren.

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Mike Zhao, on air from October 11th
Mike Zhao, author of Critical Race Theory and Woke Culture: America’s Dangerous Repeat of China’s Cultural Revolution.
Yukong Mike Zhao is a nationally recognized Asian American community leader, former Director of Global Planning at Siemens Energy, and a Chinese American author who cares deeply about America. With rich and inspirational life experiences, proven problem-solving abilities, and outstanding leadership skills, he is devoted to serving the public and to protecting the American Dream for you!
Mike grew up in communist China where citizens did not have the basic freedom to pursue their dreams. His father was politically persecuted during China’s Cultural Revolution, which led to extreme poverty, a broken family, and devastating personal loss.
In 1992, Mike legally immigrated to the United States to pursue his American Dream. After receiving an International MBA degree from the University of South Carolina, he moved to Orlando, and joined Westinghouse/Siemens Energy. During his private sector career, Mike demonstrated outstanding strategic management expertise, and led numerous mission-critical corporate strategy development projects for American and global markets.
Alarmed by the extreme left, which wants to introduce socialism and use censorship, cancel culture, and racial division to tear down America, Mike felt a calling to serve in public office. As state representative, he will support Governor DeSantis’ efforts to protect Floridians’ political and economic freedom. He will bring smart, constitutional solutions to help you and your children achieve the American Dream!
Mike Zhao and his wife Wendy Li have lived in Orlando since 1996. They have two children who have recently started their careers as a software engineer and a financial analyst respectively. Mike loves history, travel and cooking delicious Chinese food.

As the radical left introduces socialism and uses Critical Race Theory, censorship, cancel culture, and racial division to tear down America, there is reason for grave concern over the future of the country. Unfortunately, it appears that history is repeating itself and America is in danger of a cultural revolution from which it will not be able to recover. Based on his firsthand experience of the horrors of communism, Mike Zhao crafted Critical Race Theory & Woke Culture / America’s Dangerous Repeat of China’s Cultural Revolution to reveal how the radical left is using the Maoist playbook to destroy America. He provides a striking overview of the similar tactics used, which include employing divisive Marxist ideologies, changing cultural values, rewriting history, indoctrinating citizens, and silencing the opposition. Zhao warns of the dire consequences of many of the “virtuous” liberal agendas, such as censoring “misinformation,” canceling dissidents, mandating racial equity, and dividing Americans into the oppressors and the oppressed. Zhao survived communist China’s Cultural Revolution and thrived in capitalist America. During China’s Cultural Revolution, Zhao’s family endured political persecution, extreme poverty, and devastating personal loss. Zhao’s unique life experience enables him to draw parallels between what the radical left is doing in America and China’s Cultural Revolution fifty years ago. Zhao is an accomplished conservative author and nationally recognized Asian American community leader. By fiercely defending America’s founding principles such as the protection of individual rights, the rule of law, freedom of speech, election integrity, the free market system, equal opportunity, and meritocracy, Zhao aims to inspire Americans to fight against Critical Race Theory and “woke” culture.
