Prayer, it is not only for the church but your divine connection to your God and can be done anytime from anywhere. Sherry shows us a way to have the art of prayer in our lives that comes from our hearts and souls and is not based on a religion.

That happens to be a question I ask the participants who attend the primary program I teach, Exploring the Core Basis of Prayer. Everyone has a different answer, but there is a common thread – that prayer has something to do with communication. That’s where we begin our experiential exploration. People discover that prayer has more to do with conversation than with communication. Prayer is meant to be more like a dialogue than a one-way monologue.

Spirit exists in, around and throughout all things, including we humans of course. It is all the same spirit, but the manifestation of spirit into form gives each form particular characteristics, gifts and challenges. Unique to humans is our cognitive mind, which is a great gift to help us get along in life – but, mind is also a culprit when trying to connect with Spirit. More here on Reflections of prayer.

Exploring the Core Basis of Prayer is a 2-1/2 day workshop available to anyone over the age of 15. It is not important whether or not participants have a spiritual or religious background. The Core Basis of Prayer is the experience of connection and relationship we all share with aspects of divine/spirit in Nature, which is our birthright. When we experience that connection there remains no doubt that we are connected in Love. From the place of connection, healing occurs and guidance for our lives is accessed.

In this workshop, we will look at what it is that got in the way of our inherent experience of connection and use effective tools (discussion, storytelling, a particular meditation style, drum journeys, and sharing) that help put those artificial barriers aside.

This workshop is the first part of a larger program called, Exploring the Phenomenon of Prayer.

Sherry Morgan had a special spiritual experience in 1982 and from that time experienced a growing sense of being guided. Initially, this guidance had a lot to do with personal growth work, a change in work from the corporate world to the holistic health world, and urges to spiritualize, which Sherry explored as well as she knew how to do. Then in 1993, those urges were “to go, leave, travel.” In 1995, Sherry set off in a Volkswagen Van for unknown destinations and unknown duration, knowing she would be led. She found her way to don David Wiley, now initiated as an elder Huichol shaman and an elder Náhuatl weather-working shaman. Don David works very closely with the elemental Fire, known by different names in a different culture, but in English usually by Grandfather Fire. Fire is the energy of our heart and the warmth and connectedness of all things.

Taught and guided by Fire, as well as by Ojibwa, Náhuatl and Huichol elders, Sherry came to learn of her calling to teach people about prayer. From the primary 2-1/2 day workshop, Exploring the Core Basis of Prayer, Sherry has developed other programs all designed to help people access healing and their own direct guidance for their lives.

Exploring the Core Basis of Prayer is a Lifeways offering of the international Sacred Fire Community. Sherry was the founding President of Sacred Fire Foundation in 2005 and is still an active volunteer, and she is a founding donor of the related organization, Blue Deer Center. In 1998 Sherry was initiated as a quiatlzques (one who works to establish a relationship with Weather for the benefit of her village) in the Náhuatl indigenous tradition of Mexico, and she is Matron for ceremonial work at a sacred mountain connected with Weather in Ontario, Canada. Reflections on Prayer

Sometimes people ask me, “What is prayer?”

That happens to be a question I ask the participants who attend the primary program I teach, Exploring the Core Basis of Prayer. Everyone has a different answer, but there is a common thread – that prayer has something to do with communication. That’s where we begin our experiential exploration. People discover that prayer has more to do with conversation than with communication. Prayer is meant to be more like a dialog than a one-way monolog.

Unique to humans is our cognitive mind, which is a great gift to help us get along in life – but, our mind is also a culprit when trying to connect with Spirit.

The main problem with our cognitive mind is that we feel separate, alone and fearful. Our cognitive minds are prone to question or doubt everything, including our own validity. It is a very real problem with us as humans. Cedar trees don’t wonder if they ought to shed their leaves in winter. The fox doesn’t wonder if it should be a beaver instead. The clouds don’t wonder whether they should let the wind carry them. We, humans, are often lost, stressed, and confused about who we really are and we doubt what our gifts are, or even if we have any at all.

We all have gifts! Prayer can help a lot in discovering that we’re not alone and that there is much help for us to access our authentic expression. In prayer, we discover that Spirit knows us better than we know our self. Connecting with Spirit helps us to learn who we are… our authentic selves, not the selves that have been shaped by the good/bad, right/wrong, should/shouldn’t conditioning of our upbringing and our culture.

And, we all have challenges! And this is another place where prayer can be such a great help. For some people ‘prayer’ is a dirty word. I like to help people experience prayer in a way that it is seen and felt as something very beneficial to them. The root of the word ‘religion’ is “to bind back, to bind together.” Prayer is meant to help with that. We need only learn how to connect with these other-than-human spirit beings, how to relate with them, how to ask for help, and how to distinguish guidance from our overly active minds that are so prone to doubt. We shed what doesn’t belong to us and come to know who we truly are and what is important for us.

The way I’ve been taught about prayer (and of course, therefore, the way I teach) has us connect and relate with aspects of Nature directly. I don’t tell people how to pray. I lead experiential work that helps people discover their own connectedness and relatedness, and the love and guidance that is there for them. This is our birthright!

My first teacher of prayer was an Ojibwa elder by the name of Carolyn Oliver. Following prayer in the way she instructed turned my notion of prayer on its head and transformed my life! Her instructions were to go outside in nature every morning and every evening and give thanks to everything I could witness or think of in nature to give thanks for. She told me that this is how her people gather medicine for their lives. I offered these prayers for an hour or more twice every day for a full year. My negative mind became a mind full of gratitude. My fears became full-heartedness from the experience of connection and relationship with the world around me. I received guidance regularly to help me on my journey and my gifts began to emerge. I became full of joy. I highly recommend this way of gathering medicine to anyone.

After a vision quest she led me on, I began to receive messages to teach people about prayer. I thought this a great idea but had no idea what to do! I wrote to another teacher, a Huichol elder shaman in Mexico, and asked him. He asked me to return to Mexico and began to teach me how to teach others. In 1998 this elder introduced me to a Náhuatl elder shaman as well. This elder recognized my Náhuatl soul connection and with my need to be initiated as a Quiatlzques (Weather Worker) in that tradition. Since my initiation, I have been going to Mexico every year to offer prayers and ceremony.  In 2001 I was given instructions to awaken a sacred mountain in Ontario that has a strong connection to weather there. Twice a year a group of us visit this sacred mountain to offer ceremony and prayer. The prayers and ceremonies as a Weather Worker in Mexico and in Ontario for the past 20 years have taught me how our long-ago ancestors lived in harmony with the world, and of course, we are learning this for our selves now too. Prayer and ceremony are antidotes to our overly active minds.

Aspects of Nature are waiting to help us all. They are waiting to be asked for their help. They receive us with such love, compassion and understanding… and we feel this! We begin to heal from our experience of separateness, aloneness, our doubts and fears.

Prayer has helped me to find my calling. I love to help people experience their own connection with their hearts and their own guidance. My healing purpose is to spread joy and it is certainly working.

In this episode, we dive into how Christianity spread and the misinterpretation of the meaning of God. We also look at how we can connect to the God within us.

Charles says “Faith or Religion: The challenge with words is that the “meaning” of words are fluid and change over time and even change in the present moment from person to person. Faith, for me, is more about a deeply inter-abiding intimacy with GUS (God – Universe – Spirit). Religion, on the other hand, is an institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices that one must maintain a scrupulous conformity to and this is the only way to know/experience and interact with God.”

Sara Says, ” Living in a spiritual divine energy, you know that you are of God (G.U.S) God, Universe, Spirit. When GUS is in you guiding you, your path is clear to one’s purpose, you are in knowingness without a doubt and in harmony with your soul, this for me is my divine connection that is always there for me, never letting me down, always showing me my way forward. As yet I have not found a religion that connects me in such a way.”

Ainsworth says “For me, it is a question of moving beyond faith and operating in KNOWLEDGE…It is the key to escaping the matrix.”

18-24 Is Sara Ready for Dating again?

Is Sara ready for dating again? that is the dating world ready for Sara? 

I have been single for years now, and so busy building this radio network I have let life pass me by. I have not rushed out to date again, I am perfectly ok living with me, but to share ones life would be good, and this time to do it differently.

I have known loneliness within relationships, and they are heartbreaking, so this time my heart is full with who I am and what I stand for and the need to be loved is not required but the desire to have love in my life has stepped forward.

Something I wrote back in 2003. 

So far, I have met single men looking at young single women, or men far too content with themselves to be looking at anyone at all. So I decided to look into a dating service. I had met a delightful English lady of about 58 who was on her third husband, whom she had met through an online dating service. Her delightful comment was, “Darling it is easier to get a man than job in this city.” I should have got the dating services name because the ones that I tried have not been very successful.

First I tried a service that could not get my sex right. They kept insisting that I was a man looking for a man. When they did get it right, I can honestly say that I was not turned on by men wearing ‘Wife beaters’ (vest tank tops) nor by a man with a beer in his hand, nor with another woman on his arm.  So I then hear of this dating service that questions and scrutinises their clientele fully. Only professionals allowed, completely above board. I spend two hours there, all the time asking what the price was to join. When she decided that I could join, I was told it would be $1600 CND + tax for six dates $3000 for unlimited use. Well they do have a lot of clientele and maybe there would be someone nice there, but not on my budget. So back to online dating? And maybe one day I will be lucky with it?

Well I have also heard of speed dating where you have eight minutes to meet someone then you change places on to the next. I believe that you write down the one you would like to see again and they connect you if that person wants to see you too. Well, a friend of mine did this and has met someone dishy, so maybe I will give it a try. I have thought of joining things, no not the gym or church or political party, but something with exciting lively people who enjoy life and conversation. I’m still looking, it will present itself soon and I will know when I find it. I am off to England to visit my mother and family soon, and you never know, I might meet someone on the plane. I have been bumped before and it could happen again. That’s the thing, you do not make new friends by design but mostly by circumstance and fate. Therefore, I will keep my eyes open my mind clear and my aura positive, and my next best friend will materialise.

I did meet someone in 2002 as a friend that later became a short-lived relationship but a long friendship instead. I have not dated since, so this is going to be interesting.
