TSM24-43. Angel Hamilton on “Fairy Creek”

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Angela Hamilton, on air from October

I worked on Kickstarter campaign as a volunteer fundraiser for the “fairy creek” documentary directed by Jen Murantez because I care.

I chose to volunteer as a documentary filmmaker  fundraiser on this project because fairy creek is in close proximity to where my family live on the west coast and I am friends with the director. I had many friends at the fairy creek blockade and the only way I could help was on the campaign on my laptop from my home in Peterborough, Ontario I have always cared about nature and doing what I can to help various campaigns over the years.

The world premiere is at Planet in Focus Film Fest in Toronto, Ontario

24-41 Hello Seventh Decade

Sara’s View Of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 8th

Here I stand on my 70th birthday, reflecting on seven decades of living, loving, and embracing all that life has thrown my way. It’s been a journey—filled with highs, lows, and everything in between—but through it all, I’ve truly lived. Now, as I enter my seventieth year, I find myself wondering what this new decade has in store for me. What new experiences, lessons, and moments await?

Although it’s important to reflect on the past, we must not become trapped by it. We take the lessons we need for the future and recognize the pain from the past but leave it behind. This decade—my seventh—is all about me. Yes, I’m still podcasting, creating pod-books, and being a hands-on grandma, but I’m living life on my own terms, embracing it fully.

As a senior creating a pod-book on “Our Forgotten Seniors,” I’m fully aware of the challenges that come with aging—whether it’s health, housing, or affordability. Yet, in my humble home and with a small pension, I’m still committed to living a life enriched by the love I have for what I do, my family, and the person I’ve become.

Whatever decade you’re in, celebrate it, live it fully, and learn from it in every possible way. Each stage of life has its own gifts and lessons—embrace them all.

C24-41. Sandra Wasko-Flood. Labyrinth of Peace

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Sandra Wasko-Flood, on air from October 8th

Meet the woman who made people walk in a labyrinth on the Eastern lawn of the U.S capitol. Sandra Wasko-Flood is an artist, poet and teacher. She is the founder and spirit behind non-profit organization Living Labyrinths for Peace. Her book The Labyrinth Path to Light and Peace gives a view into her visions of peace and health through labyrinth walking.

In the Great Kiva at Chaco Culture Park, New Mexico, Sandra had a vision of ceremonial dancers from all races, cultures and beliefs, peacefully ascending an underground spiral to do a labyrinth dance. She became the founding member of the International Labyrinth Society. She went on to create an interactive labyrinth art/technology installation, “Dance of the Labyrinth,” symbolizing a peaceful dance of opposites for our times. The first project was a walking the labyrinth for inner peace ceremony on the U.S capitol Eastern lawn. The Washington Performing Arts Center asked her to give her “Labyrinths for Creativity and Peace” workshops in the schools. She gave these workshops in the local DC schools and changed the school system relating the labyrinth to every subject.

Sandra means that walking the Labyrinths can help with diagnoses such as autism, dyslexia and Parkinson. Psychologically they can help alleviate anxiety and PTSD. Since 2005, the Living Labyrinths for Peace has installed labyrinths in over 40 schools in the DC area, and many in New Mexico.

Presently she has transferred the Living Labyrinths for Peace to New Mexico. Her main center is her octagon glass house, hi-tech teepee, in the pine forest wilderness of Angel Fire. She has done many programs in the Taos, New Mexico schools and the local communities and continues to do these programs nationally and internationally.

Her goal is to create a Luminous Labyrinth Center for Peace where people can choose what labyrinth design to project on the floor, what light box images on which they wish to walk for the occasion of their choice: birthdays, marriages, conflict resolutions.

Sandra Wasko-Flood is artist, poet and teacher. She is the founder and spirit behind non-profit organization Living Labyrinths for Peace, Inc. She got a BA in English and a Secondary teaching credential from the California State College in Los Angeles.
