AK 23-24. Eme McAnam, Freefalling: A Novel of Senior Romance.

An Authors Kiss with Sara Troy and her guest Eme McAnam, on air from June 13th

Eme McAnam, author of Freefalling: A Novel of Senior Romance, the provocative debut novel exploring senior romance and the challenges of aging. In an interview, she can talk about the issues we face as an aging society, particularly when it comes to relationships, intimacy and romance. Eme will share with your listeners why we need more romantic literature for older readers and why she feels that while aging may have hurdles, it’s not a stop sign.

Dementia. Romance. Love. Aging. A powerful and provocative new senior literary romance novel redefines the notion of fulfillment in one’s Golden Years. Freefalling, by senior Eme McAnam, is a genre-changing story that’s sure to stir deep emotions.

“My friend suffered from Lewy Body dementia,” shares Eme, referring to the second most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer’s disease. “As I assisted him in his struggle, he let me see the turbulence in his mind. It was difficult to know his suffering and to comprehend his emotions. But I listened, as his caregiver and personal advocate. I disclose what I learned from him and others in this novel. Stories are a creative way for me to reconfigure life and share knowledge. While I was writing the senior romance, threads of his dementia crept into my characters, creating a more interesting story. A more real story.”

Eme McAnam has worn many hats: She certified fitness instructors, was a financial advisor, ran an assisted living facility, and even had a song on The Top 100 Country Billboard chart. But above all, she has lived life passionately and now has a critically-acclaimed debut novel that captures some of her life’s experiences in Freefalling, a poignant and provocative work of senior romance literary fiction.

Forty years ago, she was on the Billboard Country Top 100. She was singing for thousands of people at large events. Not long after that, life took her on a detour and she entered the world of more traditional business, where she certified fitness teachers around the country. Next, it was the financial services sector, where she became an advisor and professional speaker. Eme later ran an assisted living facility for a decade.

Restless to see more of the country, she sold her home of 37 years and traveled for a year before landing in her artist’s loft in Minneapolis. Eme hiked, painted, wrote, took pictures, and made new friends. It was a transformative experience.

Blessed with time and perspective, she resurfaced into her life as an artist and photographer. She writes about romance, life, and reality blended with life’s messy parts. Romance allows difficult stories to have hopeful endings. She has been interviewed on several podcasts, including Sexy Senior Romance the Read My Lips podcast.

Born and raised in New Ulm, Minnesota, she is one of nine children. Eager to have a chance at city life, she moved to Minneapolis to attend college. Now a grandmother, she resides in Minneapolis.

23-24. Serenity and Abundance.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air form June 13th

May we all find serenity within our thoughts, love emanating from our hearts, and peace residing in our very essence. Let us not forget that there still exists a destructive virus of hate in our world. As we react to the tragic loss of life caused by individuals consumed by inner turmoil, let us unite in our collective determination to prevent even a single life from being lost in any manner, whether at the hands of another or due to the contagious nature of the hate virus itself.

As we navigate through these challenging times, it is crucial to prioritize your safety and well-being. Let us not allow fear to guide our actions, for fear thrives in darkness and lacks clarity until illuminated by light. When we understand the source of our fears, we gain the power to address them. It is important to acknowledge that there may be legitimate concerns that warrant fear, but even in those moments, we can find empowerment to take action.

Gratitude is a powerful tool for finding balance in life. When we express gratitude for even the smallest things, we cultivate a deep appreciation for them. True richness extends beyond material wealth and power; it resides within a heart and soul that live with purpose, love, and an abundance of spirit and soul.

Let us strive to be not only rich in our own lives but also to create opportunities for others to thrive. By sharing our abundance and uplifting those around us, we contribute to a more harmonious and fulfilling existence for all.

Enrichment and abundance are not merely external acquisitions; they are profound experiences that envelop us, transforming our very being. When we truly encounter enrichment and abundance, we are embraced by their presence. They become an integral part of who we are, permeating every aspect of our existence.

This deep sense of fulfillment propels us forward, guiding us on our unique path and purpose in life. It ignites a fire within us, driving us to pursue our calling with unwavering passion and dedication. The richness we feel within resonates outwardly, touching the lives of those around us and creating a ripple effect of positive energy.

When we are aligned with our true selves and living in harmony with our values and passions, enrichment and abundance flow naturally. They are not fleeting or external rewards, but rather an intrinsic state of being that allows us to navigate life’s journey with joy, contentment, and a profound sense of purpose.

May you be open to receiving the gifts of enrichment and abundance, allowing them to embrace you and propel you forward in the fulfillment of your calling and show you the serenity that awaits you. .

C23-23. Kathy Knopp how Art saved me.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Kathy Knopp, on air from June 6th

I have always considered myself an artist.  Ever since childhood.  I began painting at the age of 10.  My Father always encouraged my art ambition.  It was a rough beginning for me however as I was about to be put into an orphanage and my adopted Father came along and took me in …I had 4 brothers and a sister at the time that I thought were my family.  Three of my brothers were shuffled off to a place called “Boys Town” in Nebraska, which I don’t remember much only them being taken away from me.

I got into this new home with a wicked step mother who hated me and this took on a whole new scenario for me.  I read a lot and stayed to myself to stay away from her and my new adopted Father was gone a lot so art was my go to.  I was able to loose myself in my art and keep my mind going learning about the masters in impressionism.

I don’t like to keep focusing on the past, so just know that the circumstances were difficult and had to endure a lot of pain being separated from a family that wasn’t all together to begin with and a new environment of love and hate combined.  I endured and got to go to good schools and had clothes and good food to eat, but not a whole lot of enduring love except from my New Daddy who when he was around embraced my talents.

Moving forward to later details as I had spend some 10 years with this situation and after finishing high school I was accepted into a very fine art school.  My ambition was to attend the Ringling School of Art in Florida.  My Dad had friends who would have let me stay with them while I attended the school.

Well, things don’t always work out the way we want in life.  One thing was this was back in the late 60’s and things aren’t always planned back then.  My Dad lived large and had lots going on with his business and boats and cars and other priorities.  He didn’t think he was ever going to have health issues although he had diabetes and was a large man.  His wife made sure I was never to have anything, only to find this out after he suffered a massive coronary and died.

My confusion only started then.  Much has become clearer in my later years now and I was left penniless and had to find another home at the age of 18 and live with room mates I didn’t even know.  I really don’t know how I made it except I know my art kept me going.  I took classes at the local museum in my town and was working for a dentist at which I became good at.  Many things were very difficult and I knew I didn’t want to be around the women who betrayed me with hate and just did everything on my own.  My dreams were crushed at the time, I was about to lose my car my Dad sold to me which was a 65 Mustang as the credit life my Dad told me was on the car was not and she took that too.  I had to refinance my car to keep it as I had to work.

Many obstacles were put in my path.  Again my art kept me going and I worked also, sewed my own clothes and kept going.  I painted and sold any paintings so I could to make extra money on the side.

What was very devastating became a lifelong quest to make my life better.  I worked many jobs.  I ended up marrying a man like my “childhood” as all I knew and it worked out for a while, we lived in Chicago, and I kept working and attaining many different jobs with better pay each time.  We divorced after almost 9 years, and moving to Atlanta was the highlight of my life to get away from the cold tundra of the North!

There are a lot of details in between I would rather not go into as it is very painful.  The past makes us for the future, and I would prefer to hit only the highlights to be useful to others who feel they cannot go forward.   Sometimes, our disappointments turn into treasures that we cannot understand until we are older and see the path set before us.

My job experiences were aplenty, and I did attend college here and there, so my experiences helped me attain a job selling lighting for a large lighting company. This became my home and this was my family for over 23 years and I attained the highest level in lighting as a CLC, and also top 3 level in sales worked with designers, architects, builders and electricians and kept up my art along the way all the with the notion that someday I will be able to “just be an artist” and do what I love the most.

I found a man that enjoyed the same things I did, we met sailing as that was one of my fondest past times and decided to get married.  We both enjoy art as he is a fine photographer, and we both have very different opinions, but we get along and have been married now 24 years!  He helps me do what I love and continues to encourage and help me with the photo end along with his art, we are a great team working to fulfill our dreams of me with my oil painting and him with his birefringence art designs, which are quite beautiful with oil and water and digital images.

I hope this gives you something to understand my passion with the arts is my love and keeps me going.  I do believe I am here by the grace of God, and what to make sure that is understood as I love his unending love for me to keep going.

Being a Life Coach is NOT about being an expert in people’s lives. It would be arrogant to think someone could come along and tell you how to live your life.

A Life Coach is a behavioural specialist who is an expert in looking for and finding patterns and behaviours people display which limit them from reaching their true potential and therefore robbing them of the life they want.

Misty has had over 20 years of professional experience effectively working with a diverse range of people in a non-judgemental manner, embracing social, cultural and age differences and the benefits associated with these.

23-23. Celebrating 10 Years of my Podcast Network.

Sara’s View of Life, with Sara Troy, on air from June 6th

Hello, I’m Sara Troy, the host of Self Discovery Wisdom. Today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on a journey that has spanned over a decade. Yes, it’s been 10 years since I started my own network, after a year of podcasting else where. This journey, unbeknownst to me at the start, has become the most meaningful and rewarding endeavor of my life.

Looking back on my 11 years in this field, I’m filled with profound gratitude. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing extraordinary individuals who’ve shared their heart-wrenching and inspiring stories of courage, resilience, strength, and self-discovery. These stories have not only illuminated the inherent magnificence of the human race but have also deepened my own self-awareness.

This journey has expanded my understanding of humanity and instilled in me the belief that we all possess the capacity for greatness, for heart, spirit, soul, and an open mind, if we choose to embrace it. The individuals I’ve had the honor of interviewing have shared their experiences with honesty, openness, and heartfelt wisdom, serving as beacons of inspiration and propelling us forward on our individual paths of self-discovery.

To all the listeners who’ve tuned in with the intention to learn and apply these teachings, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your engagement, support, and willingness to share and care have created a vibrant community that encourages us to continue bringing the enrichment wisdom that we do week after week.

As I look ahead to the future, I’m filled with excitement and a deep sense of purpose. My commitment to uplifting and enriching lives through podcasting remains unwavering. I’m eager to continue on this journey of growth, discovery, and meaningful connections, for we all gain when we rise up to a higher vibration.

The past 11 years have been filled with extraordinary interviews. The people I’ve spoken with have been willing to share their life journeys, their struggles, and their discoveries. They’ve shared their passions and convictions, and their commitment to helping others. These stories have been extraordinary, and I’m honored to have been able to share them with you.

As I embark on my 10th year running my own network, expanding into Pod-Books, I’m looking forward to bringing more collaborations with more people. I’m eager to work with others, combining our skills and expertise to create a harmonious orchestra of wisdom.

I’m only 68. Can I go to 78? Can I go to 88? I’m going to try. As long as I can still hear, see, and do, I hope to keep doing this until the end of my days. Sharing the wisdom is truly illuminating, and I hope that each podcast brings something new to your life.

Thank you for all the 10 years. I’m immensely grateful to all those who have generously contributed to our endeavors through donations. Your support is instrumental in enabling us to bring forth this valuable knowledge and create a platform for sharing wisdom.

As I look to the future, I’m filled with excitement and a deep sense of purpose. I’m committed to uplifting and enriching lives through my podcasting. Here’s to the next decade of Self Discovery Wisdom, and to all the wisdom and inspiration it will bring.

Here is to the next ten years…………
