IG25-40 Margie Goldsmith on Becoming a Badass

Ignite Your Heart and Soul with Sara Troy and her guest Margie Goldsmith, on air from October 7th

In her new memoir, Becoming a Badass: From Fearful to Fierce Margie is a testament to the adage “no one is going to make your life for you.”
Her story is one of adventure and resilience. It’s about living life on your terms and living it fearlessly. She speaks to anyone  looking to overcome a sense of powerlessness in any given situation, whether that’s a dysfunctional family, a marriage/relationship, or a career, and to anyone who has ever felt “less than.”

Coming from a family marked by deep struggles—her father’s suicide, incest, a sister battling schizophrenia, and parents coping with manic depression and alcoholism—her early life shaped much of who she became. After college, she moved to Paris, where she lived a glamorous life and married a blacklisted film director. Her passion for travel soon blossomed, leading her to become a travel writer who has explored 150 countries across seven continents, from Uganda, The Marquesas, South Korea, Laos, and Cambodia to Oman, Cuba, Tibet, Nepal, Borneo, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Easter Island, Croatia, Namibia, the Arctic, and Antarctica. The Outward Bound program also transformed her path, fueling her love of physical challenges: she has completed marathons and Olympic-distance triathlons, summited Mount Rainier, and climbed to Advanced Base Camp on The North Face of Mount Everest. Adding music to her many adventures, she learned to play the harmonica and even recorded two albums with America’s most award-winning blues band. Her resilience shines brightest in her survival of stage four pancreatic cancer and later, lung cancer—proving again and again her extraordinary strength and will to live fully.

BB25-40. Dr. Ben Olmos Business Storytelling

Building your business with Sara Troy and her guest Dr Ben Olmos, on air from October 7th

Entrepreneurship, Media, and the Future of Business Storytelling

How The Daily Pitch Helps Managers, Leaders, and Entrepreneurs Get Better @ What They Do

My “why” is rooted in helping managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs get better at what they do. After decades working with Fortune 500 companies and with C-Suite leaders, I saw a gap between the insights executives have access to and the practical, everyday knowledge that small business owners and professionals need to thrive. I founded DissedMedia as a company focused on developing products and insights that will help those interested in business at any level build upon their knowledge and wisdom. It is really a marriage of my three passions, which are business, education, and creativity. I’ve been in the CPG industry (Consumer Product Goods), for over 30 years, higher education for 20, and a curious creator all my life. The Daily Pitch is a platform I designed to publish stories and insights about business, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The Daily Pitch Academy is an education platform I am building to help individuals at all levels learn about theories and practices I have taught for many years. It will also become a platform for consultants and coaches who can leverage it to help teach and inform too. The podcast, DissedMedia A Startup Story tells the story of starting DissedMedia from the very beginning. My purpose is to share not only what I’ve learned in boardrooms and classrooms, but also to democratize that wisdom so anyone building a business or leading a team can make smarter, faster, and more human decisions.

I began my career at Coca-Cola in Atlanta as a frontline contractor making $5.50 an hour. Seeing that growth required education and experience I didn’t yet have, I enrolled in college while working full-time and raising a family. Over two decades at Coca-Cola, I advanced professionally, earned my degree, pursued an MBA, and eventually began teaching.

After 20 years in the beverage industry, I transitioned into wine while completing a PhD in Business Administration with a focus on Industrial Organizational Psychology. Alongside my career in consumer goods, I’ve served in academia as an adjunct professor, department chair, and MBA program director—teaching or developing over 75 courses in business, spanning leadership, management, marketing, operations, and more.

These experiences inspired me to found DissedMedia, home to The Daily Pitch news platform and The Daily Pitch Academy. My work centers on translating business trends into meaningful insights for leaders, entrepreneurs, and everyday decision-makers.

BB25-40. Dianne Crampton. Stories Shift Leadership

Building your business with Sara Troy and her guest Dianne Crampton, on air from October 7th

On this episode, we welcome Dianne Crampton, founder of the TIGERS 6 Principles and president of TIGERS Success Series. Dianne is the author of Becoming TIGERS: Leading Your Team to Success. In this unique leadership parable—crafted in the tradition of Native American storytelling—Dianne weaves a story within a story. At its heart is a father whose job is on the line because his well-intentioned passion comes out as shouting and micromanagement. His struggle mirrors a parable about two tiger brothers—one who inspires and coaches his diverse tribe, and another who rules with surliness and control. Dianne explores how stories gently shift mindsets and open leaders to real change, offering a fresh path away from toxic behaviors and toward collaborative, high-trust leadership. She also shares her vision for pairing Becoming TIGERS with the TIGERS Team Wheel game to support school counselors and help address root causes of conflict and even gun violence in schools. Tune in for an unforgettable conversation about the power of story to change how we lead, work, and live together.

C25-39. Lisa K Friedman’s novel “Hello Wife”

Mental Health Awareness with Sara Troy and her guest Lisa Friedman, on air from September 30th

K. Friedman, author of the novel Hello Wife Lisa explores the devastating impact of opioid abuse on the families of those who are addicted

Single, unfulfilled, and well into middle age, Charlotte Lansing desperately seeks love and acceptance. When she announces her engagement to an unemployed morphine addict, her family is thrown into turmoil. Her mother tries to prevent disaster, her father tries to bridge the divide, and her sister clings to the hope that their bond will protect Charlotte. But Charlotte has finally found happiness, and she resists their efforts even as she disappears into her new husband’s addiction.

As Charlotte’s family grapples with the storm her choices unleash, Hello Wife lays bare the fragility of love, the strength of sisterhood, and the invisible scars of the opioid crisis. Darkly funny, achingly real, and unexpectedly hopeful, this unforgettable novel pulses with emotion and humanity on every page.

With razor-sharp insight and tender prose, Friedman invites readers into the life of a woman determined to hold onto happiness, despite all consequences. And, in this case, the consequences are dire.

C25-39. Todd Smith, Conflict-Avoidance

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Todd Smith, on air from September 30th.

How to go from conflict-avoidant in relationships to confident and connected

If you are a sensitive person who is strongly affected by conflict in relationships, you’re not alone. At the beginning of my marriage, I found conflict unavoidable, and it challenged me to the core. As a result, I started doing inner work and found a growing resilience inside me. I’m here to share how it’s possible to respect your own sensitivity, even while taking up space in your relationship.

I come from a background of spiritual development, and I lived in an ashram for about 10 years in my twenties. When I left the ashram, I had trouble integrating into the real world, including the world of being in a relationship. I discovered a process called The Work of Byron Katie and dove into it, at first thinking it would give me the courage to leave my relationship. I soon found that I was the main sticking point in the relationship and that I could easily shift out of my victim mentality. I’m still in the same relationship 25 years later. I now feel like an equal to my partner and feel connected instead of alone.
