24-49. Participate Cheerfully

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening, everyone! Welcome back to another edition of Sara’s View of Life right here on selfdiscoverywisdom.org. I’m your host, Sara Troy.

Today, I want to talk about community, friendship, and putting ourselves out there to meet new people. December is upon us, and for many, it can be a lonely time of year. As someone who’s relatively new to my neighborhood—just seven months in—I’ve been learning the importance of making an effort to build connections. Whether it’s joining groups, starting conversations, or stepping out of our comfort zones, forming relationships takes initiative.

When I first moved here, I was overwhelmed with setting up my house, working on my shows, and caring for my grandchildren. Add to that some health challenges, and I didn’t make time to engage with others. But now, I’ve started reaching out. I’ve connected with people in my retirement community and even made a wonderful friend named Lynn. In December, a group of us are planning a ladies’ night out—a little Christmas party to treat ourselves.

I also attended an Alignable event recently, which was an incredible opportunity to meet people locally. Alignable is a great platform for networking, and their local events are a fantastic way to connect with others. At this event, I met Sharon, a lovely woman whose focus on health and wellness I can’t wait to share with you in an upcoming interview.

It’s not just about business connections, though; it’s about creating moments of joy, building friendships, and expanding our circles. For many single women, especially as we get older, the opportunities to socialize can seem limited. But instead of waiting for invitations, we can create our own events. Gather some friends or acquaintances, dress up, and enjoy a festive dinner. Or, if that’s not an option, consider volunteering.

December is full of opportunities to give back. Volunteer at a food bank, a toy drive, or an animal shelter. Help out at a local church or retirement home. By stepping into these spaces, you not only make a difference but also open the door to meaningful connections. Even if it feels uncomfortable at first, it’s worth it for the sense of belonging and purpose it can bring.

If going out isn’t an option, consider hosting a virtual gathering. Use platforms like Zoom or Facebook Live to invite others for a casual chat. It doesn’t have to be fancy—just a time to connect. Pour a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and let the conversation flow. It’s amazing how these small steps can build a sense of community.

For those of you who know someone who may be feeling isolated this season, reach out. Knock on a neighbor’s door, offer to pick up groceries, or invite them for tea. If you can’t include them in your own holiday celebrations, drop off a little gift to let them know they’re seen and valued. Acts of kindness, no matter how small, can have a profound impact.

Loneliness can be especially hard during the holidays, and we must remember those around us who might be struggling. Seniors, single parents, or displaced families may need an extra bit of care and connection. Consider opening your home or table to someone in need—it could make all the difference in their holiday experience.

Let’s make this season about more than just celebrations. Let’s create moments of care and connection, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued. Together, we can make this time of year a little brighter for everyone.

That’s what Christmas is all about, isn’t it? It’s about embracing one another, setting the table, and being inclusive. Sure, it’s about family, but who says family always has to be blood? Family can be the people you choose to surround yourself with—those who uplift and support you.

I’d love to do more of that here. As someone still new to my community, I’m slowly building connections. But even now, I plan to involve the people I’ve met, especially those who may be spending the holidays alone. It’s important to bring others into the fold. While I do have my own family, and we’ll celebrate on Boxing Day with everyone gathered, I might invite a couple of friends over for a Christmas breakfast to ensure no one feels left out. It’s the small gestures that matter most.

If you’re wondering what you can do, start small. Get dressed up, head out, and treat yourself to lunch. I’ve spent many meals alone, enjoying my own company, people-watching, and soaking in the atmosphere. It’s a habit I developed out of necessity growing up shy, but it taught me the value of being comfortable in my own skin. Whether you go solo or invite a friend, taking that step to do something is what counts.

Budgets can be tight during the holidays, and I get that. My focus is usually on meaningful, fun, and simple gifts rather than expensive ones. It’s not about the price—it’s about the thought and the love behind it. Something handmade, a small token, or even a gesture like a babysitting voucher can mean so much. The greatest gift, however, is simply being present with one another.

I’m grateful to be forming new friendships in my community. Being able to say, “Let’s go for coffee or lunch,” and enjoy someone’s company is such a gift. We need to create our own tribes, wherever we are. Don’t isolate yourself, don’t switch yourself off, and don’t discount your worth. If you feel alone, participate in something. Join a group, go for walks, or simply greet a passerby with a smile and a hello.

We’ve forgotten how to connect, haven’t we? We’re so absorbed in our phones or preoccupied with our own lives that we forget the power of a simple interaction. Let’s lift our heads, share a smile, and engage with the world around us. There’s so much warmth and connection waiting for us if we only embrace it.

I’m excited for another upcoming meeting where I’ll get to meet even more people. It’s an evening event, which works better with my schedule, and it’s conveniently close by. It’s opportunities like this that remind me there’s always a door open somewhere. You just need to find the right group for you, whether it’s business-related, hobby-based, or simply a social gathering. It’s all about the camaraderie and building those connections that bring meaning to the season.

This message beautifully captures the essence of community, kindness, and mindfulness, especially during the often hectic holiday season. Sara emphasizes several key points that resonate deeply:

  • The Importance of Connection: Whether it’s through a business group focused on camaraderie rather than competition, or simply inviting friends over for a meal, connection is vital. Finding ways to engage with others and support one another, especially during challenging times, brings warmth and purpose to the season.
  • Mindful Holiday Shopping: Amidst the frenzy of holiday shopping, Sara reminds us to practice patience and kindness. Both shoppers and workers are stressed, and a simple smile or kind word can transform the experience for everyone involved.
  • Adaptability and Simplicity: Delays and shortages may arise due to postal strikes or other factors, but the emphasis should remain on the thoughtfulness of the gesture rather than the physical gift. Even a note or IOU can convey the spirit of giving without unnecessary stress.
  • Financial Mindfulness: Sara’s own approach—sticking to cash and avoiding credit card debt—is a valuable reminder to prioritize financial well-being over the pressure to overspend.
  • Extending Kindness to the Isolated: Including those who might otherwise spend the holidays alone is a beautiful way to embody the season’s true meaning. Whether it’s a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger, a small gesture can make a significant impact.
  • The Gift of Positivity: A smile, a cheerful demeanor, and spreading love are the simplest yet most profound gifts we can give. Sara’s closing wish for love, joy, and peace reminds us all of what truly matters during the holidays and beyond.

This heartfelt reminder to be kind, mindful, and inclusive is a perfect message for the season. ?

24-48. Sister-hood & Common Sense Love.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from November 26th

This week, my show is focused on sisterhood and common-sense love. The wise Linda L. Nardelli, whom I’ve interviewed before, shares daily spiritual messages, and today’s message was incredibly timely. It speaks to the spiritual warrior within us, urging us to stand confidently behind our convictions, express ourselves honestly, and be transparent. These are powerful tools for overcoming adversity in our lives. Balance, integrity, and self-empowerment are essential in our journey to become spiritual warriors, and we must embody these qualities to create change.

You have been drawn to this entrance to become a devoted spiritual warrior. The cougar is a potent symbol of self-advocacy. You must stand behind your convictions with absolute confidence in your self-worth. Self-expression, honesty, and transparency are the gifts you need. These are powerful tools that can disarm any adversity in your life.

Masiandia, “The balance between all the bodies: physical, energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual is the way of the spiritual warrior. And integrity is the only way to bring balance into your life. You have chosen this entrance for one reason: to get real, be bold, speak up, say your truth, and do it with the utmost respect for your power. You have every right to how you feel, what you need, and what you see and sense.”

As I reflect on my own journey through podcasting over the last 12 and a half years, I recognize the importance of standing up for others, especially women, who are working to improve the world. Women are the true bearers of common sense and love. For me, common-sense love is about sharing solutions from a place of practicality and love. With everything happening in the world right now—elections, wars, and societal struggles—it’s clear that the time for women to rise and say, “Enough is enough,” is now. Common sense needs to prevail, and it’s up to us to make sure that happens.

Sisterhood is rising in response to these challenges. The Mission Accepted 262 book highlights 262 women who have shared their passions, convictions, and wisdom with the world. Through this book, we are empowering one another to step into our full potential, regardless of our backgrounds or circumstances. While we may not yet have a woman in the White House, we don’t need political office to lead. The world needs love and compassion, but it also requires accountability, common-sense action, and respect for one another.

As part of the Mission 262 project, I’m honored to be among the women sharing their wisdom and encouragement. This book represents a five-year journey to awaken people to solutions, and it’s been incredible to see the lives it has impacted. The journey continues, serving as a reminder that the time to uplift and support one another is now.

In these times, we must also be accountable for our choices. If we support actions that cause harm or do nothing to stop injustice, we are complicit in those actions. It’s essential to hold ourselves and others responsible for our choices and their consequences. We cannot allow ourselves to be passive bystanders—we must seek the truth, demand answers, and make informed decisions.

The world’s problems—ranging from political instability to environmental disasters—demand that we come together to support one another. We need to offer solutions and stand in solidarity. This means supporting all people—whether they are women, men, transgender, non-binary, or those who don’t fit into traditional gender norms. We all need to be in this together, regardless of our differences.

It’s time for a new kind of leadership grounded in love, compassion, creativity, and accountability. We must empower those around us, not by tearing each other down, but by embracing each other’s differences and working together toward common goals. This is not the time for judgment comparison or competition. Instead, we should focus on compassion, empathy, and strength, while recognizing that our flaws can be our greatest strengths.

The universe is shaking things up to wake us up, to help us grow vibrationally, spiritually, and consciously. Now is the time to stop complaining and start making a difference. We have the power to create peace, love, and equality in our world by being the change we wish to see.

In the face of natural disasters, political unrest, and widespread suffering, we must come together to rebuild, offer support, and help each other thrive. The true currency of change is common-sense love. We must take action from a place of love, compassion, and respect. This is how we will transform the world into a better place for everyone—one that is rooted in equality, kindness, and understanding.

We can no longer afford to engage in petty rivalry or judgment. Instead, we must embrace one another, celebrate our differences, and support one another with love and common sense. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and work together for a brighter future. Let’s plant seeds of compassion, empathy, and kindness and watch them grow into something beautiful.

We are going through a challenging time, but it is also a time of awakening. By standing up, taking action, and being responsible for our choices, we can turn this upheaval into an opportunity for growth and change. Let’s rise to the occasion and nurture the seeds of love and compassion, knowing that they will flourish and create a better world for everyone.

The time has come, my sisters. The time has come to stand together, not just as individual women, but as a powerful collective force for change. We are the answer to the questions that have plagued us for so long. The shift we’ve been waiting for—it’s happening now. But it’s going to take every one of us, every woman, to step into our power.

We are rising with love, compassion, and a fierce sense of purpose. It’s not about competing with one another. It’s about coming together. It’s not about perfection. It’s about commitment and courage. It’s about understanding that in this soil of love, we have the ability to nurture and grow—together.

For far too long, we’ve allowed hatred, control, narcissism, and power struggles to dominate our world. But that’s not the frequency we operate on anymore. We operate on the frequency of love—a vibration that transcends all barriers. This is the soil in which we plant our seeds—seeds of opportunity, hope, and transformation. We nurture them, we water them, and we grow them into something magnificent.

We will not be swayed by those who feed on division, cruelty, or insecurity. Their soil is dead; it will not grow anything of value. But our soil—our soil is rich with compassion, understanding, and possibility. Our soil will grow abundance. It will grow connection. It will grow a future that values every single person, regardless of color, creed, or background.

I’m calling on every woman to step into this movement. To rise up and support one another—whether through our businesses, our advocacy, our creativity, or our love. We are the changemakers, the ones who will create the foundations of this new world. And yes, it will be a grind. It won’t be easy. But this is the path we’ve chosen, and we are in it together, for the long haul.

I don’t care if you wear Chanel or if you shop at Old Navy. I don’t care if your hair is gray or if it’s blonde, red, or black. I don’t care about the labels society puts on us. What matters is our hearts. What matters is our compassion, our strength, our shared humanity. We will not compete. We will not tear each other down. We will rise together.

My platform is my podcast, my books, my voice. I’m here to amplify the voices of women who have stepped up to serve, to support, to inspire. What’s your platform? What’s your unique service to offer this world? What will you bring to this collective? Together, we’ll weave a tapestry of love, service, and community.

But it’s the women who must drive this change. We are the ones who will put this house—our Earth—back in order. It’s time to stop the wars, to stop the hate, and to start the work of nurturing, creating, and growing.

This is just the beginning. Over the next few years, you will see women standing up, each taking ownership of her own life, her gifts, and her responsibility. And together, we will rise. We will rise for the children, for the communities, for the world.

Let’s do this. Let’s plant the seeds. Let’s water them. Let’s grow this future. Together.

24-47. “election empathy.”

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from November 19th

I’ve been grappling with what to discuss this week, and a topic keeps coming to mind that I feel compelled to address: “election empathy.” It’s about my disbelief over the direction America is heading, the leaders being elected, and the disregard for empathy, compassion, and humanity. Too many people are focused on their own well-being and ignore the suffering of others. I find it hard to understand how people can support leaders with a history of mistreating others, especially those with a record of racism, sexism, and cruelty.

Women are suffering, unable to get essential medical care because of fear over lawsuits, and yet, it feels like no one is speaking up. This isn’t just political—it’s a moral issue. We are at a crossroads, where we must decide what kind of world we want to live in. Do we choose love, empathy, and community? Or do we continue down a path of fear and division?

I can’t ignore how the growing political turmoil in the U.S. affects us as Canadians, too. While some people here support divisive figures, we must rise above this. I feel anger at those who voted based on misinformation or blind allegiance. The consequences are real—medical care, social programs, security, and the environment are all at risk. I believe, though, that there’s hope. We can rebuild, reconnect, and rise together in solidarity.

The real challenge now is reaching the people who feel forgotten, those who just want to make ends meet and are not interested in intellectual debates. We need to meet them where they are, listen to their concerns, and address their needs. The choices made today will impact everyone—especially the vulnerable.

America has to face the consequences of putting a man with such a history in power. This is about accountability, not just politics. If you voted for someone whose actions harm others, you’re part of that harm. It’s time to confront that. We need a world based on empathy, not division. As a global community, we need to grow up and mature, to choose kindness over pettiness, and find creative solutions that lift everyone up, especially those suffering.

When you see someone suffering—struggling physically, mentally, emotionally, or financially—may be unable to afford medicine or get the medical help they need, or feeling scared they’ll be silenced if they speak out, I want you to really see them. No one should be treated with such disdain or fear.
Let me be clear: women’s bodies belong to women, and don’t you forget it. Don’t underestimate a group of strong women, either. When we step into our “Mama Mode,” we won’t put up with injustice or being told what we can and cannot do with our own bodies. We don’t need weapons to fight for our rights; our voices, our hearts, our spirits, and our values are enough.

I stand with you, America, with every woman and every person facing unfair treatment. I’ll stand with you because that’s what I believe in—the work I do, the vibrations I feel, and the love I set forward are all in support of that cause. I hope we can all come together in common sense, kindness, inclusivity, and care. It’s time for us, as a human race, to grow up. We have to stop solving problems with pettiness and, instead, find creative solutions that help people feel safe, supported, seen, and heard.

To anyone facing injustice, my heart is with you. To those who may disagree, I ask you to see the full impact of the choices we make and reflect on their moral consequences. It’s time to come together, to embrace love, empathy, and common sense, and build a future where everyone is seen, heard, and valued.

24-46. Be the Peace

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from November 12th

I recently had a wonderful conversation on my podcast with David Wick, a dedicated peace advocate who’s been with the UN and involved in global peace efforts for over 40 years. It’s a conversation on peace—its possibility and its necessity in today’s world. So often, people think of peace as a distant ideal, something that may never be achieved. But I believe peace is not just an idea; it’s a way of being, a state we cultivate within ourselves and share with others.

True peace starts within each of us. When we cultivate peace, love, and purpose inside, that energy naturally radiates outward, creating a ripple effect that touches everyone we encounter. This doesn’t mean ignoring the world’s challenges; rather, it’s about seeing the issues clearly so that we can address them from a place of compassion and conviction. In our world today, we’re often sold illusions, particularly in areas like healthcare, where profit sometimes overshadows true wellness. It’s vital that we hold these systems accountable, advocating for practices that honor holistic health and well-being. Restrictions on healthcare choices, especially those that impact women’s health, call for our attention and action.

Living peacefully isn’t about having everyone agree. It’s about approaching each other with openness, compassion, and understanding. Life will always bring challenges—unexpected twists and hardships. But when we’re grounded and centered in peace, we see through the fog. Instead of reacting with fear or anxiety, we can move forward with purpose, finding creative solutions and choosing a balanced, harmonious way to live.

If we’re serious about giving peace a chance, we must start within ourselves and allow it to expand outward. Together, we can shape a world where peace is more than just a vision; it’s a way of life.

Today brought me unexpected news—not the kind I wanted. America has taken a turn not for the better, and, on top of it all, I now face a hefty bill for a new heating pump. So, how do we move forward? We’ll need to look at options, explore costs, and check payment plans. Many of us are facing financial strain, and fortunately, businesses now offer more flexible payment options to help ease the burden.

Life throws unexpected challenges our way, and while we can’t control everything that happens, we can control our response. When something goes wrong—like losing a heating system—it’s natural to feel worried. But instead, I take a moment to pause, breathe, and think it through. Yes, it’s an expense I hadn’t planned for, but approaching it calmly allows me to focus on solutions, not stress. The peace we bring to each situation shapes the outcome, helping us see possibilities rather than limits.

From health scares to financial hurdles, life will always bring obstacles. We can’t avoid every hardship, but we can choose how we respond. Sometimes, we need support; other times, we might just need a breather. The journey can be tough, but it also teaches us resilience. When we choose to meet challenges calmly, anger and stress don’t consume us. Instead, we find clarity and strength, which is where true peace lies.

Here’s the choice we all face: we can dwell on what’s wrong, or we can focus on our options and move forward with peace. True peace doesn’t come from avoiding life’s challenges but from staying centered and open to solutions. In that calm, we often find the answers we need.

Peace isn’t just a lofty idea—it’s a choice we make to step into calm, clarity, and centeredness no matter what storm we face. When life throws curveballs—financial struggles, health diagnoses, unexpected twists—it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even angry. But here lies our power: in our ability to pause and find that inner sanctuary, that core of calm that supports us through anything.

This calmness isn’t passive; it’s a foundation, a conscious decision we return to whenever we feel overwhelmed. In that calm, we see solutions we might miss in a panicked state. This core of peace lets us respond wisely and act from strength.

We each play a role in creating peace in the world. When we choose calm, compassion, love, and patience over anger and resentment, we lift not only ourselves but those around us. It’s not about ignoring our emotions but about choosing not to meet anger with anger, or hate with hate. When we do, we avoid getting lost in the chaos.

Instead, let’s be the peace we seek. Let’s live it, breathe it, share it, embody it. We are the creators of the love, kindness, and calmness we want to see. It’s up to each of us to be that higher frequency, that example that helps elevate ourselves and others.

When you walk in this divine calm, you become a beacon for others. You’re living proof that life can be filled with compassion, joy, and connection. You’re inviting others to rise, to find their balance, and, together, to build a world built on peace and love.

I invite you: take this journey. Embrace the peace, live the love, and let’s transform the world one calm, compassionate choice at a time. Because that’s what living truly means.

When anger arises, let it out. Feel it fully, then let it go. Take a deep breath and ask, “What can I do about this?” If there’s something you can change, take action. If not, sometimes the best choice is to simply walk away.

Peace is a choice we carry within us. It’s a state of being that we each have the power to access. This peace and love isn’t external; it’s within. Tap into it, let it flow, and share it. When you do, you create a ripple effect, an invitation for others to step into that calm alongside you.

By being this light, this vibration of peace, we become the solutions this world so urgently needs. Let’s approach life with calm strength, becoming the peace we wish to see.

Until next time, I wish you a beautifully peaceful journey.

24-45. Is it really True?

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from November 5th

This week, as the U.S. election approaches, I’ve been reflecting on what to discuss. Conversations with people across the country reveal that many are influenced by sensational headlines, often taken out of context, rather than seeking a fuller understanding of the issues at hand. While this episode airs on Election Day, I encourage everyone to look beyond quick snippets and investigate the truth behind damaging claims before forming their opinions in any area of their lives.

In our fast-paced digital landscape, particularly on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, quick, surface-level content dominates our interactions. This impulsive, reactionary culture affects more than just politics; it permeates our everyday lives, leading to superficial judgments and misunderstandings. As we engage in the electoral process, we should focus on qualifications and abilities rather than popularity, emphasizing depth of understanding over knee-jerk reactions in both voting and daily interactions.

When faced with negativity or cruelty, it’s crucial to pause and ask ourselves, “Is this true? Is this a fact?” We must challenge ourselves to engage meaningfully with issues rather than jumping on the bandwagon of outrage. Establishing clear boundaries against harmful conversations is essential. We need to hold ourselves accountable for our words and actions; if we don’t, we risk perpetuating a culture that dismisses kindness and empathy.

I recently learned about a heartbreaking incident in Kamloops, British Columbia, where a 13-year-old girl was brutally attacked at a beach party, and bystanders cheered and recorded the event instead of intervening. This appalling behavior reflects a troubling cultural issue we all must confront. If we allow bullies to thrive unchecked, we share the responsibility for creating that environment. It’s essential to stand together against bullying and establish a culture of accountability in our communities.

Leadership should embody responsibility by promoting support, encouragement, and respect rather than humiliation or cruelty. Unfortunately, in many spheres, we often see individuals in power resorting to demeaning behavior, setting a poor example for others. It’s imperative that we model kindness and solidarity, especially for the younger generation, ensuring they understand that it’s never acceptable to bully or remain passive bystanders when witnessing harmful actions.

In a world filled with conflict and division, we are being called to evolve beyond outdated survival instincts and embrace a higher consciousness. This evolution requires us to tap into our intellect and use our voices for good, advocating for the oppressed and marginalized without elevating ourselves at the expense of others. Self-love and accountability are crucial in breaking cycles of harm, both for ourselves and for those around us.

As we reflect on our collective resilience, we must consider how we can uplift our communities and contribute positively to the world we share. Each of us has the power to promote joy and understanding in our interactions, creating a more compassionate environment. Let’s commit to this journey with love and courage, recognizing that our strength lies in unity and collaboration. Together, we can cultivate a brighter future for all, ensuring our voices contribute to the harmony of our shared existence.

May we continue this journey with love, balance, and the courage to face whatever lies ahead. We are stronger together.
