SCOTT DID A GV22-40-45. Major Scott A. Huesing, Save the Brave.MOTORCYCLE RIDE FROM CALIFORNIA TO FLORIDA…TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR VETERAN SUICIDEITS TIME TO SAVE THE BRAVE!

Major Scott A. Huesing USMC (Ret), the Bestselling Author of Echo in Ramadi rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle across the country (3,000 mi) again this year for Save the Brave (STB) to raise awareness for Veteran Suicide. Huesing (51), the Executive Director of Save the Brave (501c3) began this ride in 2020 to honor his high school friend and veteran, David W. White (aged 48), who died from alcohol poisoning on Sunday, June 7, 2020, in Butte, Montana. Huesing will ride from Biggs Harley Davidson in San Marcos, California to Peterson’s Harley Davidson South in Cutler Bay, Florida, south of Miami, FL. 

Along the way, Huesing will make several stops to ask supporters to donate to STB and ride along with him on his journey to raise awareness for veteran suicide – emphasizing that these are not statistics anymore, they are friends and sons and brothers that we all know. He was joined by fellow veterans and riders from every state he passes through amidst the heat of July. Their goal – $50,000.00. 

When asked, “Why did you pick July to make this ride?” Huesing responded, “I didn’t pick the month – the month picked me. If nothing else, it’s a reminder to everyone who joins me along the way that maybe we need to suffer a little bit to be reminded exactly why we are riding.” Veterans dealing with depression, alcohol abuse, and PTSD are especially impacted by the isolation this pandemic has caused in many cases.

I have been coaching and mentoring speakers for over 26 years.  I remember one woman who was speaking to a group of 10 people.  She was shaking and looking like she was going to be ill. Engaging her with simple questions in a conversational tone, allowed her to take her mind off speaking and relax.  Her whole body changed and she actually began to smile.  That is when I knew I had to help others get past the fear of the “speech” and just relax with the fact that it’s just a conversation. So many fail to connect with their audience because they are not being authentic or allowing themselves to be vulnerable. But it is in lowering those walls, that we allow others to connect and our message to be heard.  

I would like to talk about why it is so important that we work on how we present our messages online and in person.  We spend time trying to write down the words that will reach our audience and fill a need, but often neglect examining how we are delivering that message.  From video to the stage, our impact is tied to how comfortable and authentic we are in sharing our message.  If we don’t connect, our message will get lost.  My mission is to work with you to make that impact to show up and nail that next presentation or meeting ensuring your presence will lead you to greater profits.

Being the 2nd of seven children, Vicki knew college was not in the cards, so she got a part-time job and put herself through a 6-month business school in Pittsburgh.  Upon graduation she continued to work two jobs and looked for as many personal and professional development tapes, books, or courses she could find. The thirst for learning continued and eventually she found herself working for a large transportation company in Atlanta. Here she learned to embrace change and go outside of her comfort zone.  It was also where she was introduced to Toastmasters. She then spent the next 3 decades mentoring, coaching, training, and stepping outside that comfort zone. Her journey has been and continues to be fueled with a passion for life-long learning and helping others see their potential and slay their next presentation or zoom! This book sheds light on the issue through the eyes and experiences of Zachary, an eight-year-old boy who is anxiously anticipating going to the next grade. Encouraged by his parents, he writes a letter to his new teacher, asking for her help to make his next school year better than his last. While introducing the concept of brain-based gender differences, this primer offers educators more than 150 researched-based strategies and practical ideas that will help boys (and girls!) achieve more academically, socially, and morally.  The objective is to motivate teachers to explore the plethora of available resources and learn how to best educate our boys. Vermelle D. Greene has been a schoolteacher and administrator for more than 45 years. She holds degrees from Dickinson College, George Washington University, and International Seminary. After retiring, she founded S.A.C.R.E.D. Life Academy for Boys, a Christian school focused on building character and accommodating the educational needs of boys. Dr. Greene is currently an educational consultant and lives in southern Maryland with her husband, Vernon. They have two married children and six amazingly beautiful grandchildren.

Our education of our children should be our most invested commodity in any country; we are letting our youth down. Gisele Huff who was an educator for 40 years, she speaks on what needs to be changed and in how we the parents and as a community can make those changes.

Gisèle tells how she embraced the value of education, earning her PhD from Columbia University and launching a career in K–12 education that spanned decades. Her tireless work to revolutionize the school system changed the lives of countless children and gave rise to the integration of technology into the curriculum. Having worked with intellectual and political giants on both sides of the aisle, including Milton Friedman, Jeb Bush (R), former governor of FL and Bob Wise (D), former governor of WV, Gisèle repeatedly champions the idea of collaboration. It was Jeb Bush who named her the “First Lady of Blended Learning.”

 However, it was her late son Gerald who introduced Gisèle to the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI), a government program in which every adult citizen receives a set amount of money regularly, with no “strings attached.” As automation replaces our workforce and the idea of technological unemployment is a not-so-distant threat to our economy, Gisèle began to recognize that the “American Dream” will not be obtainable in the future as it was for past generations. At the age of 72, Gisèle began to embrace progressive values so whole-heartedly that she is now an ardent promoter of UBI and the founder of The Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity.

Gisèle Huff was born in 1936 in Paris to working-class Russian Jewish immigrants. She moved to the US when she was eleven and went on to earn a PhD in political science from Columbia University. For more than two decades, Gisèle served as the executive director of the Jaquelin Hume Foundation, which invested in nonprofit, national organizations that worked on transforming K–12 education. She received the Thomas A. Roe Award and the iNACOL Huff Lifetime Achievement Award. She is deeply involved in raising awareness about technological unemployment and promoting universal basic income, the legacy of her late son. She is the founder of the Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity. She lives in San Francisco, California. This is her first book.
