Lester Velez shares stories and discuss OPUS, the Organization for Paranormal Understanding and Support, as well as its mission: to reach out and provide help and support to those who have encountered extraordinary paranormal experiences.

OPUS has recognized the need for a home where an Experiencer can receive assistance in locating and choosing a professional who is knowledgeable about a particular experience in question.

Additionally, OPUS can refer Experiencers to physicians, licensed mental health practitioners, consultants, investigators and alternative health assistants. OPUS also refers to support groups of all kinds where Experiencers can share feelings and concerns without fear of ridicule or embarrassment, while learning to understand, bridge and integrate what happened to them into daily life.

In addition to our face to face support group, OPUS has an international on-line support group which can only be accessed by the members and is available 24/7.

For UFO matters, OPUS networks works with many like-minded groups and organizations such as Yvonne Smith and CERO (Close Encounter Research Organization), Dr. Leo Sprinkle and ACCET (Academy of Clinical Close Encounters Therapists, Inc), Barbara Lamb, MS, and previously with the late Dr. John Mack (JEMI) and Budd Hopkins (Intruder Foundation). For psychic issues, we refer to Loyd Auerbach of the Paranormal Network and for Kundalini, to the Kundalini Support Network and Kundalini Awakening Now. For spiritual emergencies, we refer to June Steiner PhD and the Spiritual Emergence Network.

Lester Velez is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Beginning in September of 1970, he served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer and was later vice president of Luscombe Engineering, a Silicon-Valley based manufacturer’s representative company. He joined MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, in 1991 and has held the following positions: Field investigator, Training Coordinator for field investigators, the Assistant State Director in Northern California, Chairman of the A.E.R.C. (Abduction Experiencer Research Committee), and team leader of the A.R.T. (Abduction Response Team). Also during that time, he became a facilitator for an abduction support group in San Jose California, and in 1994 co-founded OPUS, the Organization for Paranormal Understanding and Support.

Renee knows loss—her beloved father died on Thanksgiving Day when she was 15. Then, after more than a dozen years of conflict and estrangement, she lost her mother—who went missing and turned up drowned in a hotel bathtub. Laura Pedersen and Jill Miller are co-founders of Choose Ministry.

I’m a father, husband, and passionate creator. I grew up in a small Massachusetts town and spent a lot of time outside and playing sports as a kid although I wasn’t very good. I’ve always been my weird self and known as a mellow kid who’s always joking. I went to the university of New Haven for a year after high school but dropped out after 2 semesters after dealing with deep depression, paranoia, and mood swings. I was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent what I call a sick kids gap year trying to write several novels, drinking heavily, sometimes avoiding public situations for weeks on end and sometimes contemplating big life changing moves. I spent the next few years unmedicated and self medicated openly struggling with bipolar disorder. I started dating my wife who suffered from a severe eating disorder and stood by me while I struggled through my own mental illness. I have a 1 year old son named Nohl (Nohlie) a cat named ozzy, and a daughter on the way named Leala Bowie, I love to paint, write, listen to music, hike and cook.
