My backstory is, I spent forty years inside the cockpits of corporate jets and airlines and because of my flying career, I believe I acquired a unique perspective on life. I was fortunate in 1992 to fly Ridley Scott on a location scout in the Caribbean islands. We talked about writing and building an image with the words. He was an awesome mentor to a new author. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts. I have been involved in feature films in Hollywood and Indie films in Phoenix. I’ve done voice-over radio commercials, and stand-up comedy. I’m a proud male member of the oldest women’s writers club––the Phoenix Writer’s Club, and a member of the International Thriller Writer’s. Dr. Paterno is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and founder and Clinical Director of Park Ridge Psychological Services, a successful private practice specializing in integrative and innovative treatments for children and families. He received his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago. He has authored three published works, including the Desperately Seeking Parents, his first parenting book to describe the need for parents to establish themselves as in charge. Dr. Paterno is currently working on his second book about Alpha parents and the need for fathers to initiate and lead in this critical role. Dr. Paterno is also the father of three successful children, all of whom would say that their father’s parenting philosophy has contributed to their healthy self-worth, inner strength, and independence.
Scheer founded Comfort Cases, a non-profit organization provides backpacks with essential items like toiletries, pajamas, activities and other items for children in foster care. The charity went from providing about 300 kits in 2013 to donating 25,000 to kids in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia foster care systems last year.
