P15/13c Candling Energy with Jili Hamilton

Positive Living Vibrations with host Sara Troy present Jili Hamilton from March 31st on.

presentation_candlesEar and body treatment candles, which are either hollow linen tubes or cones, have been used since the dawn of time in many parts of the world to treat numerous ailments such as otitis (glue ear), migraines, deafness, sinusitis, allergies, tinnitus, etc. as well as for relaxation and stress relief. They are also used for cosmetic problems such as oily skin, juvenile acne and poor circulation.

Ear and body candle treatments are given at my home in Geneva and are generally in three parts. First, we normally begin with a foot or head massage (optional) in order to enhance the effect of the candles. The session concludes with ten minutes of energy work.

I have prepared Fact Sheets on Candles and Children, Hearing Loss, the Immune System, Sinusitis, Stress, Tinnitus and Women’s Problems.  They are free-of-charge so do contact me if you’d like to receive one or several.

If you are not in Geneva and would like a treatment, there is very possibly a therapist who has been trained by me in your area.  Some of them speak several languages, so don’t hesitate to contact me for details.

presentation_booksI am a writer, therapist, translator and teacher based in Switzerland. Working in many domains has given me a good grounding in a field I love. This enables me to offer services in several different fields.  The following are my paper qualifications, but you will find more details throughout the site and I am always delighted to discuss your particular needs with you:

Hopefully, you will find that one of the services provided meets your personal needs and I invite you to email or contact me so that, together, we can explore how I can help you.

14/22 Ask Sara about Fibromyalgia, Myofascial pain, I.B.S, Depression and High Anxiety

Originally Aired June 2nd on Ask Sara with Sara Troy.

pain site 2Fibromyalgia -Myofascial pain, I.B.S, Depression and high Anxiety Asthma just to name a few. I have these and more and they have been around for a long time now….BUT I don’t let them stop me even if they slow me down.

So what have I done to live cohesively with these disorders so that I can build a radio station, and a foundation, counsel, and co-enterprise a new decision-making tool? I will share with you today what I use to help me and the mindset I have to put myself in to get through the day.  I am not ashamed of these disorders nor hide from them, for so many suffer from them, but we can help the problem and live a better life.

Here is a description of these disorders.

Fibromyalgia Symptoms

People with fibromyalgia frequently hurt all over and feel exhausted all the time. Those symptoms often force you to seriously limit your physical activity. It’s also common to have problems concentrating and remembering things. A lot of people with fibromyalgia have symptoms so severe that they have to quit their jobs due to the fatigue and pain.

Common fibromyalgia symptoms include:

Frequently, people with undiagnosed fibromyalgia don’t realise that a host of secondary symptoms are related to the pain, fatigue and other primary symptoms. Keeping a detailed list of symptoms can help your doctor make a diagnosis.

SOMETHING I have been using and works is Curcumin  a show on that HERE

Muscles Affected by Myofascial Pain

Myofascial pain is often caused by tension, spasm, or fatigue of the muscles that allow a person to chew, called the masticatory muscles. Grinding of the teeth and jaw clenching are related to myofascial pain and can lead to headaches.

It is common for myofascial pain to limit jaw movement and to affect muscles in the neck, back, and shoulder. Actually, myofascial pain can affect any skeletal muscle in the body. It is not limited to the muscles of mastication (chewing).

Now I know what it is learning what you can do about it here. HERE

What Is IBS?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a digestive disorder that many people have, but few people talk about. It is estimated that IBS affects up to 15% of the population with its symptoms of chronic abdominal pain and major disturbance of bowel functioning. IBS can entail bouts of urgent diarrhoea, episodes of chronic constipation, or a pattern of alternating between the two. IBS is considered a functional disorder, in that it involves a malfunction in how the intestinal system works, but doesn’t show up in any visible disease process or tissue damage. If you have IBS, you know first hand how intense the disorder can be and how it can cause significant disruption in the ability to attend to the tasks of daily life.

Anxiety symptoms, anxiety attack symptoms: There are over 100 symptoms of anxiety, I only cover depression.

Because each person has a unique chemical makeup, the type, number, intensity, and frequency of anxiety symptoms will vary from person to person. For example, one person may have just one mild anxiety symptom, whereas another may have all anxiety symptoms and to great severity. All combinations are common.

Depression is a mental health illness that affects one in 10 Americans.More than just feeling down, clinical depression is a mood disorder characterised by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and worthlessness that don’t go away on their own. It is essential to recognise that feeling down on occasion is a normal – and important – part of life. Sad and distressful events occur in everyone’s life, and responding to them emotionally is healthy. However, feeling miserable consistently and without any sense of hope is not normal, and should be treated as a serious medical condition.

People experience depression in different ways. It can often interfere with a person’s daily responsibilities and relationships. Left untreated, the condition may last for months or years and often becomes worse. However, depression is a treatable medical condition, and those who seek treatment often see improvements in their symptoms.

Asthma

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways in the lungs. In the United States asthma affects an estimated 26 million people — many of whom aren’t aware that they have it, especially if their symptoms aren’t severe.

The most common symptoms are:

  • Coughing, especially at night, during exercise or when laughing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest tightness
  • Wheezing (a whistling or squeaky sound in your chest when you breathe, especially when exhaling)
  • Any asthma symptom is serious and can become deadly if left untreated.

Symptoms may be triggered by exposure to an allergen (such as ragweed, pollen, pet hair or dust mites), irritants in the air (such as smoke, chemical fumes or strong odors) or extreme weather conditions. Illness — particularly a respiratory illness or the flu — and exercise can also make you more susceptible.

A physical display of strong emotion that affects normal breathing patterns — such as shouting, crying or laughing — may also contribute to an asthma attack. Panic can prevent a person with asthma from relaxing and following instructions, which is essential during an attack. Scientists have found that rapid breathing associated with strong emotions can cause bronchial tubes to constrict, possibly provoking or worsening an attack.

Like any chronic condition, asthma can cause emotional strain. As a leading cause of work and school absences, it can have a significant effect on livelihood, education and emotional well-being. Depression may set in when people diagnosed with asthma believe that they are unable to participate in normal activities.

Asthma symptoms can happen at any time. Mild episodes may last only a few minutes and may be resolved spontaneously or with medication; more severe episodes can last from hours to days.

S15/08 27 Steps to Freedom; Ecoli to LIFE

“Their Story Matters”  with Sara Troy and her guest Wendy Mcclelland Aired from February 24th on.

Successful business, own home, raising 3 children, a good life, until she was hospitalised with E-Coli infection of the spine and brain that’s when life changed forever. How she came back is her story in “27 Steps to Freedom”

Wendy Mcclelland

head-shot-2-231x300In late 1999 I contracted an e-Coli infection that ate away portions of my spine (along with damaging other internal organs). I spent many months in the hospital, then more in a body cast (from my neck to my knees) as the bones were fused back together. When I was finally released from the hospital, I was still in the body cast and walking with a cane.

I went to live with my parents and was so blessed to have them take care of me. During this time I learned to move again and each day I tried to move a little more. The first few weeks I stayed mostly in bed, and hobbled around from the bathroom and back to my bed.

But, I knew I needed to move again, so each day I challenged myself to go further each day. After a few weeks, I was ready to move from walking around the house to going outside.

3D_book_cover1My parents lived in a home with a driveway that had a lovely big tree at the end of it. My goal was to be able to walk right to the end of that driveway and get to the tree.

It took me many tries (and many days) to get to the end of that driveway, but when I did I knew I was on the path to freedom. I knew that nothing could hold me back after that day!

It was 27 steps to the end of the driveway, and the more I thought about it I realized that each step represented something I had learned during my journey to healing.

I now feel strong enough emotionally to go back in time, and relive the journey and share the lessons of those 27 Steps.

P15/02b Two Lives One Life Time, a Story of Addiction

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Pat Reihl. Aired from January 13th

images (15)

It is a NEW YEAR and is a very good time to invest in yourself. First, we have, to be honest with ourselves and the lives we are currently living, are we serving ourselves or crippling our lives? Pat in her honesty shares with us her path of alcoholic destruction and how she finally placed value upon her own life to become a beacon of hope, care and nurturing for others in recovery. We to can overcome when we decide, to be honest about our choices.

Patricia A. Reihl, MPA, LCADC

Pat at PodiumCounsellor and Author

Patricia Reihl has worked in the addiction field since 1977. After securing a nursing license, she began a career as a counsellor in a social setting detox, and next worked as a nurse in a 28-day residential program. In 1980 she went to work in a hospital-based outpatient program where she developed and directed a special outpatient track for female clients.

In 1981 Pat became Director of Spring House, a female halfway house in Paramus, New Jersey. During her tenure, the program was taken from the brink of closing to the largest female halfway house in the State. Spring House serves today as a national and international model. Ms. Reihl has returned many women to the community as sober, productive members of society and has become a role model for the women she serves.

Throughout the years she returned to college to complete both a Bachelor and Master Degree. This schooling qualified Pat to serve on numerous national committees and boards. In addition, she represented halfway houses on a sub-committee of the American Society of Addictive Medicine and become a member of the faculty at the Rutger’s Summer School of Alcohol and Drug Studies. She has instructed professionals across the Country and Europe.

Pat served as President of the New Jersey Association of Halfway Houses for six years. In 1995 she was elected to a two-year term as President of the National Association of Halfway Houses. During her tenure as National President, she brought the National Convention to New Jersey, assisted five states in creating associations, and raised membership in the association to an all-time high.

Because of a personal recovery starting in 1970, she organised a non-profit group with a mission to memorialise the building at 17 William Street where the book “Alcoholics Anonymous” was written. In October of 1998 she was awarded the “Employer of the Year Achievement Award” by the Bergen County Department of Health presented by the County Administration, and again in 2006 accepted the Wynona M. Lipman Award for Community Service presented by the Governor and State Department of Community Affairs, Division on Women for The Family Afterward. P14/40a The Yoga of Cleaning balancing your life

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Jennifer Carter Avgerinos. Aired on October 7th.

535490_132072783593440_745254993_nWhat is The Yoga of Cleaning? These are two activities that don’t usually go together. Or do they? Yoga means union or yoking of the mind, body and spirit. When these three aspects of us are brought to the task of cleaning (which is the art of purification) a greater expansion of well-being is created. When cleaning is combined with the technologies of yoga and its sister philosophies – ayurveda, meditation and vastu the result is the cultivation of sacred space within our homes and within our lives. You do not need to practice yoga to read this book and you need not be a germ-a-phoebe either. This essential guide will show you how to spiritualize your cleaning routine, take back your life and recreate your home as sacred space. Praise for The Yoga of Cleaning: In the yoga world, a popular meme is to take the practice off the mat and bring it into daily life. The Yoga of Cleaning does just that in full force and with playful intention. This very fascinating book poses the surprising interplay between yogic principles, yogic philosophy and the processes of cleaning. The Yoga of Cleaning is not just an esoteric overview that attempts to stimulate a deeper awareness and sense of spirituality to cleaning. Nor is it simply a “how to” cleaning manual. Instead, Jennifer has produced a work that merges the two in an engaging fashion, introducing the reader to methods that inspire otherwise mundane household and personal chores to something of a higher purpose. She reminds us that all actions have meaning and impact on our lives. She supports the process with holistic, efficient and streamlined strategies for care of the self and its surroundings. Steven Weiss, MS, DC, RYT – author of The Injury-Free Yoga Practice

jenJen Carter Avgerinos is a creative and passionate writer and marketer of products, brands and technologies that help people to live more fulfilled lives. She has worked in consumer packaged cleaning tools for the last 7 years and for many years in the fashion industry prior to that.
