Scott Spacek, author of China Hand. Originally from Cleveland, Scott Spacek has lived in China for most of the last two decades, working as a technology executive and advisor to leading corporations and governmental organizations. He attended Harvard University and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Teaching at an elite university in Beijing after college provided revealing details for CHINA HAND, his first novel.

It’s 1998, and China’s political and military leaders are torn by ideological divisions. Amid these seething rivalries, Andrew Callahan arrives in Beijing fresh out of Harvard, planning to spend an adventurous year studying Mandarin and teaching at the renowned International Affairs University. The IAU is known as a training ground for diplomats and spies. Summer is here and we have been waiting for that sun to warm our souls, heal our hearts, lift our spirits and clear our minds. It has been a long hard winter but now summer is here, we can start freeing ourselves and let nature hold our hands and guide us into joy, love and living an exuberant life.

We feel so much better with the sun is kissing our brow, and the breeze is rustling through our hair, and that warm tingling feeling of less clothes on our bodies breathing in light and recharging every cell in our beingness. We feel so much better with our toes in the water washing away our woes, embracing our spirits and setting us free to be.

Summer is a time to let go and be free and make that discovery of self. Nature in its complex simplicity helps us to reconnect with our inner selves allowing for a deeper inner love of life and just being who we are. Take a walk on the wild side, say no to statuesque and be adventurous and explore what can be and free your self from the same old same old.

What you want is waiting for you, you just have to decide to go and get it. Stepping into a purpose, even if it is just to make people smile and or help someone out, it all helps to embrace that sunlight that is burning inside begging to come out. So let summer help you and get out side and be a part of natures healing and rejuvenate your soul, heart, spirit and mind.

Holly Penney is a mom, finance enthusiast, speaker, writer, self-love advocate, 4-time ovum donor, travel addict, minimalist and lover of all things chocolate. Experiencing childhood trauma and then as an adult, Holly began to realize there were negative patterns in her life. One day, as she calls it a “low point,” she decided to take matters into her own hands and dive deep into personal development. This was the beginning of her healing journey. Growing self-awareness, Holly came to realize that for the first 30 years of her life, she didn’t know the meaning of self-care. After attending a retreat in 2019, Holly fell in love with herself and found a passion for journaling. Since 2019 she has made a commitment to prioritize self-care. Whether that’s going for a run, taking a long hot bath or journaling.

Holly started a successful professional bookkeeping firm (NovaRidge Bookkeeping Ltd.). Being able to support people was another passion of hers. Holly decided to make it her mission to support them anyway she could. She began creating a journal (launching June 2022) in hopes of inspiring women to fall in love with themselves. In 2021, Holly launched a book club called As The Page Turns, creating a safe space for like-minded women to talk about personal growth. She continues to share her story by speaking and writing. Holly is dedicated to supporting women on their self-love journeys by creating community through her workshops, retreats and journaling.

 “Determine to Heal Despite Appearances” giving hope and encouragement to others. At age 36-41, I went from taking allergy shots to having a tragic deforming disease on my face that caused me near blindness. I knew that medication wasn’t what I was lacking but had no understanding of my body/mind/spirit connection. It was my spiritual awaking! I went on a journey. At age 42 I experienced the natural building blocks of self-healing without taking drugs. My self-healing story has been PUBLISHED IN 23 NATIONAL MAGAZINES. I have written 4 self-help books.    The topics I can talk about: 1. My healing story 2. For generations we have been taught as children to not cry, feel, or be real, conditioning many of us to disconnect from our Sacred Self. Many of us have taken on addictions to cover up our internalized disconnected feelings, mine was work- addiction. Teaching how to heal and return to our Sacred Self.

Georgie is a gifted intuitive healer, combining her wisdom with that of her life-long Angel Helpers. International clients rely on her to interpret how to make long-term and everyday decisions from their heart desires. Example, she interprets for others how our emotions manifest in health issues as a language, as our Sacred Self tries to get our attention, wanting to show us a more joy-filled way to live. 

Georgie playfully teaches others how to bless their lives, affairs, heal and increase their prosperity, the houses that have been for sale even 3 years, have sold in 3 to 5 days, she gives credit to her Great Divine guidance.

She teaches others how to connect with the Sacred filled with possibilities and love, and how to move out of socially conditioning internalized self-doubt.

TM22-25. Richard Battle asks “WHY” did they Die?

“The common question asked when someone loses a dear one prematurely is “Why”?” says Richard V. Battle, a lifelong Texas resident and award-winning author who lost his only son in 1998.

“Like the community in Uvalde, I was faced with a reality that I had never contemplated,” he reveals. “After a long search, I found comfort that my son was in heaven, and my faith assured me that God was in control. I realized that I did not grieve where my son was but where he wasn’t. I was then able to process my grief and resume living.”

As reality sets in, the town will never be the same, and the grieving families and community will help each other through the healing process.

Richard is the author of eight books, including Surviving Grief by God’s Grace, which details Richard’s loss of his first and then only child, his son John. It is a story of the grief, spiritual quest, and grace that helped Richard and his family survive that loss and live with hope for the future. Richard has provided free copies of his grief book to the Uvalde library to help families cope with their irreparable loss.
