23-04. Age Well not Age Resistance.

Sara’s View Of Life with Sara Troy, on air January 24th

Aging well and allowing ourselves to age is the key here. Hanging on our past age and trying to look the same and behave the same as back then means you are not allowing yourself to be who you are now. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for looking the best we can with help from creams, etc., but not Botox or cosmetic surgery to look young again because you do not like aging.

Aging is a gift in many ways; we acquire wisdom, knowledge, insight, patience, the value of life itself, and respect for ourselves and others for what we have weathered over time. Only age can give us that, and only age can help us understand the true value of life. When we are young, in our 20-30s, we think we are unstoppable and unbeatable and that you will never age like our parents. As we age we learn a lot more about life, its ups and downs and just what we can cope with.

Seeing someone trying to hold on to their youth by turning the clock back or just refusing to move forward and age gracefully is sad; for not embracing your every day and taking the ride of life, you are missing out on so much. Do you know how courageous and strong you are? Do you know how resilient you are? Do you know how capable you are? You only find out by taking life’s journey while aging.

I have been creaming my skin since I was 12 years old, because I have dry skin, but moisturizing and eating a healthy diet and keeping your stress level down with meditation and or exercise, will keep you young looking and feeling young too. Your look on life as a half full or half empty attitude will be the experience you get out of life. We all get hard knocks, trip ups, downright cosmic 2 by 4’s, but if we approach life with joy and a joyful attitude, we can weather anything.

So yes, take care of your self, age well, with good health, mind wealth, and a soul and heart full of wonderment and possibilities, and those years won’t be so daunting or prepressing, and you will not be escaping back in time to when you were young nd the glory days, but enjoying life in all you are now and your life’s abundant experiences.

Age is just a number, a good attitude is a choice, fearing age is insecurity, and defining ages does and don’ts means your living life to the fullest right up to the end. ENJOY IT, LIVE IT, TAKE CARE OF YOUR WHOLE SELF AND LET LIFE SHOW YOU HAW WONDERFUL IT CAN BE EVEN WHILE AGING.

Building your business with Sara Troy and her guest Bethany Meadows, on air from January 24th

For business owners who also are also called mom, finding both success and striking the right balance can be challenging. In this episode, we will dive into the insights of an experienced mompreneur and find out the secrets she uses to find success without compromising her focus on family.

Bethany Meadows has been a mompreneur for almost 20 years and understands firsthand about the “juggle” of running a business and raising a family.

In 2008, after going through a divorce and wanting to continue homeschooling her five children, starting her own business seemed like the answer. Using her previous experience as a corporate marketing executive, Bethany founded Vertical Solutions Media, a full-service brand and marketing agency that helps businesses grow and succeed.

Her first book, Getting A Grip: Build A Custom Parenting Plan That Actually Works was published in 2017. In Getting A Grip, Bethany shares her insights on intentional parenting objectives and creating a framework for meeting them.

Now, she is a on mission to help mompreneurs find success and balance in both their business and family. Her newest title The Juggle is REAL! Finding success and balance as a mompreneur gives the reader the benefit of 30 years of brand and marketing experience to help them grow their business. At the same time, she explores how to strike the right balance, remove friction, build a tribe and find parenting success.

Bethany Meadows started Vertical Solutions Media in June of 2008. At the time it was a financial solution for a homeschooling single mom of five children. Relying on her extensive marketing background, Bethany continued to grow the company and today, Vertical Solutions Media is a full-service marketing agency based in Birmingham, Alabama. For over 14 years they have provided marketing consulting and services to dozens of companies in a vast array of industries.

The company’s mission has always been Reinventing Success. This is an acknowledgement that every business owner’s path to success will look different.

Time to Thrive was created out of a desire to serve those small businesses who find themselves unsure how to take their business to the next level. Becoming stagnant in your business is not an option. It’s your choice whether or not you will THRIVE.

As part of that mission, Bethany launched TimeToThriveMembership.com as a way of helping small business owners level up their sales and marketing skills.

Cynosure Counselling & Coaching

Helping stressed out professionals get back on an even keel.?Burnout overcomer?Reflective Practitioner?Counselling Therapist?Adult Third Culture Kid.

How do you deal with change?
Does it depend on whether it’s a change you’re contemplating, a change imposed by circumstance, or a change you have chosen?

Regardless, you probably know from experience that not all changes are equal and that some are more challenging than others.

As a Third Culture Kid (TCK), I have experienced significant change from an early age as my family transitioned between and within cultures.
This background has heightened my awareness of not only cultural difference but also my curiosity about the commonality of human experience.
It has also shaped how I see myself and the world, my patterns of response within relationships and systems, and the beliefs and values that guide my decisions as an adult – and how I tend to navigate the changes that I initiate and encounter in both personal and professional life.
The journey of self-awareness development has been an evolving process that has included education, counselling, self-reflection and community support.
As I have grown in my understanding of myself and in making sense of my own life experience, my capacity to empathise with and understand others experiencing significant change has similarly grown.

What does all this have to do with YOUR process of dealing with change?

Significant change can be overwhelming to contemplate and to experience.
It can challenge you to deepen your self-awareness and to grow beyond the things you have understood life to be.
As a qualified and experienced educator, counselling therapist and reflective practitioner, I can offer you the space to look at where you are (personally, professionally or both) and the influences of where you’ve come from in order to navigate effectively towards the future that you would prefer.

C23-03. Anne Hamilton Fowler wore Many Hats

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Anne Hamilton Fowler, on air from January

Laughter, sadness, empathy, outrage. Canadian Anne Hamilton Fowler appeared to have it all. However, life is not always as idyllic as it seems, and at age twenty, a series of events almost destroyed her. Emerging from the wreckage she reinvented herself, started over, and proceeded to live on the edge with a risk-taking lifestyle. Then in 1993, an event experienced during a trip to Central America changed everything.

I’ve Worn Many Hats” is an inspirational read that demonstrates our human frailties, one’s ability to survive personal adversity, and how we can learn to forgive both ourselves and others. It is a story of redemption.

“What did I learn as a writer from the experience of writing my memoir?” My answer? That I had not allowed myself closure, or actually confronted some of the traumatic incidents in my life: especially, the rape 60 years ago. Writing about and re-examining events in my past forced me to “face” each situation, some for the first time. This exercise finally gave me permission to put it all to bed; something that was very liberating! I now realize that each of us needs to recognize that “who” we are is the sum of choices we’ve made in our lives. What one chooses to do with that knowledge determines their path going forward.

Anne Fowler is a retired Canadian who divides the year between her Haliburton summer cottage and Central America. This memoir is her first book and all proceeds will go to support Anne’s ongoing humanitarian work in Honduras.

Born and raised in Toronto I grew up an only child in a traditional middle class Canadian family of the 40’s and 50’s. But my life has been anything but traditional! After finishing school my career included flight attendant with American Airlines, model, travel agent, world traveler, sales and marketing and almost 30 years in Human Resources as an entrepreneur/ business owner. I closed my company and retired in 2001 to take up another role, that of humanitarian. As someone once said when they described my various life pursuits during their introduction of me as that night’s speaker, “and she’s only 108 years old”! I live 6 months of the year in Honduras where I have spent the past 22 years developing a variety of community health and education programs.
