C16/24 Writing from a Sharmics view on life

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Joceline Rochelle Tabacco  aired  June 14-th

My name is Joceline. I’ve lived in Modesto CA for the last 9 years. I travel the country to inspire people to awaken the country to love and kindness.
In preparation for our trip, I quit my job working as a 1:1 Aide in Special Education, sold my car, and moved out of my apartment. Then the US Government extended his deployment. This was an unforeseen obstacle, but we both agreed that I should start this journey without him so I did.
Regardless of who becomes our next president, I travel the US to spread the important message of Bernie Sander’s Political Revolution. I began my trek in Modesto CA. Then on June 9th, I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge headed North on 101 because of the rich history of San Francisco and that beautiful bridge.
We have back-pedaled as a nation. No matter who our next president is we do not have to accept the way life has become in our country any longer. It is time to stand up to our government, and tell them, “We are sick of how life is in the United States, and we demand change that will benefit all of us!”
My desire is to visit as many cities as possible to spread the message of Bernie Sander’s Political Revolution to balance to our country and to get Big $ out of our government. My goal is to arrive in Washington DC by presidential election day, November 8.
The great thing about this adventure is that my fiancé will join me when he returns to the states and we will have a much larger impact with the American people.
After rolling my truck eight times, re-learning to walk and talk, and reaching the unhealthy weight of 280 pounds I have reached full all-around health using natural means. I have been walking the shamanic path for years, and have gained loads of healing knowledge which I gladly pay forward to those who are interested.

Sometimes we get stuck, and it is always helpful to get new ideas.
Before my fiancé arrives I will have fun staying with fellow Americans who believe in what I’m doing even if you aren’t a Bernie supporter. We are all different, but we’re all human beings. So let’s forget our minor differences and enjoy one another’s company. The personal stories you share with me add even more fuel to my fire. Bern Baby Bern!!
I will keep you all informed of where I am, and I will share my adventures in articles and on video. Together we can make Bernie Sanders Political Revolution gain momentum.

I can’t do it alone America. I know that a large number of you feel the same way about our current state of things, so let’s work together and make this journey happen for all of us.
In order to continue this journey, I am grateful for any kindness you can show me. A place to stay, transportation, food, money for my basic needs and traveling costs.

I am thrilled to meet a large number of wonderful people. If you see me please say hi, and give me a hug. I warmly welcome anyone who would like to help with this project.

After all, we need each other to be our best. Together we can amplify this message to make a greater impact.

Peace Out For Now America  =)

Joceline Rochelle

She read my article My Personal Spiritual Truths: As Promised, and asked if I would like to share with all of you on the air. Thank you, Sara, =)

Our discussion today is…..

We are all different. Our fingerprints, our DNA, our experiences, and our perception. Therefore, what works for one person is not exactly the same as what works for another person. Everything can and should be tailored to match our uniqueness. The only person who is qualified to decide what works for us is us. This is true in all areas of life. It is our responsibility to embrace our personal truths if we ever want to find true joy and inner peace. I bravely share my personal journey to inspire others to find themselves. Discovering who we really are is scary and takes time, but it is worth it. We all deserve the end result of loving ourselves for who we really are and embracing what we are really meant to do.

Joceline has taken a different path today away from the political view to raising and uniting our vibrations.

TSM16/16. Journalistic Wonderment with Amy Ellis Nutt

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Amy Ellis Nutt aired April 19-25th

Mental Issues, Transgender, Ship wrecks, Science Writer, Fact checker, Amy has done it all.

BECOMING NICOLE: The Transformation of An American Family
by Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Amy Ellis Nutt.

book-becoming-393

BECOMING NICOLE is a miracle. It’s the story of a family struggling with—and embracing—a transgender child. But more than, it’s really about accepting each other, and ourselves, in all our messy, contradictory glory. The Maines family is as American as they come. In the journey, they take toward authenticity, and justice, we see a model for the future of our country, a future in which all of us somehow find the courage, and the love, to become our best selves.”

In 2012, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Amy Ellis Nutt began reporting on a family that is ordinary in many ways – middle class, politically conservative, from rural America – with one exception: one of their identical twin sons, at the age of about two, began identifying as a girl. On October 20, 2015, Random House published  BECOMING NICOLE: The Transformation of An American Family, a book about gender identity, transgender rights, community, and, above all, a family tested beyond what they could ever imagine. It’s also a book steeped in the history of transgenderism, putting Nicole’s story into a larger cultural and medical context.

When Random House Executive Editor David Ebershoff acquired BECOMING NICOLE in early 2013, little did we know that 2015 would be a watershed year in the trans movement: Laverne Cox has become a superstar; Caitlyn Jenner is telling her story in powerful ways, and newly-minted Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne  played an early transgender pioneer in The Danish Girl. BECOMING NICOLE, through its story of one girl and her family, illuminates a complex social and political issue so many Americas are curious about. NOW BEING MADE INTO A T.V PILOT COMING SOON.

“Born in Staten Island, I grew up in central New Jersey as the middle child of five, daughter of Dave and Grace Nutt. I have a beloved brother and sisters and 12 adored nieces and nephews. An aborted career as an academic serendipitously propelled me, albeit late out of the gate, into journalism. Sports Illustrated magazine, and Bambi Bachman Wulf, gave me my start as a fact-checker. A Masters degree in Journalism, earned at Columbia University in one of the J-school’s first part-time classes, helped me realize that as much as I loved sports, I didn’t want to write about them the rest of my life.”

A breast cancer survivor, bio-polar, 80% deaf as a child, all these things gave Amy the tools and understanding she needed to thrive in her field of expertise.

Nearly everything I know about storytelling I learned at The Newark Star-Ledger, where I was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in feature writing in 2009 for “The Accidental Artist,” which eventually became a book, “Shadows Bright as Glass.” In 2011,(Buy Here)  I was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in feature writing for my series “The Wreck of the Lady Mary.”

In 2014 I was lucky to land a dream job as a science writer at The Washington Post, where my beat is the “brain.” Currently, I live in Washington, D.C., but I’m still a Yankees fan.

Amy Ellis Nutt is longtime American journalist and author. She won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in feature writing for a narrative investigation into the deaths of six fishermen in the sinking of their scallop boat off the coast of New Jersey. She is the author of three books including two NYT best-sellers published last year, The Teenage Brain, with co-author Dr Frances Jensen, and Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family. She is currently a science writer at The Washington Post and lives in the District of Columbia.

Nutt’s beat at the Post is the brain where she frequently writes about mental health issues including most recently a 3-part series into science’s search for new biologically-based methods of predicting, diagnosing and treating mental illness.

PVR 15/33 Loving the Author you have become.

Positive Vibrations Roundtable with Sara Troy and her guest Carrie Stuart and Cathie Devitt, aired  FROM August 18th

logo-for-page-500x428Was I born to be a writer?

Some people know out of the gate what they want to be in life, my brother new at the age of 6 years old that he wanted to write, but so many of us take a different path only to DISCOVER the author in us later in life.

What does it take to become a writer and how does one start? Join my 2 lovely guests Carrie and Cathie as they share with us the art of becoming an author and what it takes, and how one book naturally led to another.

She has a pencil … and she’s not afraid to use it!

Can a forensic artist reconstruct two centuries of suppressed history . . . before it repeats itself?
In A Cry from the Dust, Carrie Stuart Parks utilizes her own background as a celebrated, FBI-trained forensic artist to blend fact and fiction into a stunning mystery.

Now with her second book her heroin stumbles on a new murder adventure in “The Bones Speak”

51nPyuu4IaL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_A killer with a penchant for torture has taken notice of forensic expert Gwen Marcey . . . and her daughter. When Gwen Marcey’s dog comes home with a human skull and then leads her to a cabin in the woods near her Montana home, she realizes there’s a serial killer in her community. And when she finds a tortured young girl clinging to life on the cabin floor, she knows this killer is a lunatic. Yet what unsettles Gwen most is that the victim looks uncannily like her daughter. The search for the torturer leads back in time to a neo-Nazi bombing in Washington state—a bombing with only one connection to Montana: Gwen. The group has a race-not-grace model of salvation . . . and they’ve marked Gwen as a race traitor. When it becomes clear that the killer has a score to settle, Gwen finds herself in a battle against time. She will have to use all of her forensic skills to find the killer before he can carry out his threat to destroy her—and the only family she has left.

10405270_10152463426019828_2876436928052417913_nCarrie Stuart Parks is an award-winning fine artist and internationally known forensic artist. She teaches forensic art courses to law enforcement professionals and is the author/illustrator of numerous books on drawing. Carrie began to write fiction while battling breast cancer and was mentored by New York Times best-selling author Frank Peretti. Now in remission, she continues to encourage other women struggling with cancer.

Now writing is her calling and she brings such murderous adventure in her novels along with some lost history.

Cathie Devitt First joined us in 2014 to share the motivation behind her book “Don’t Drink & Fly!”The first in a trio of novellas about the life of Bernice O’Hanlon a witch from Glasgow: Bernice is a witch with many skeletons in her closet. She has an addictive personality, works as a holistic therapist, and struggles to maintain any intimate relationships. Her spells are not always as accurate as they could be, often the result of her having a few too many goblets of red wine. When mysterious letters start appearing at her door, she begins to think about her childhood and, with the help of her long-suffering friend Maggie, tries to come to terms with her past and the family she left behind. But nothing in Bernice’s life is ever simple…

Part Two is at the final edit although Cathie has not confirmed the title. Something that she has thrown open to our Self Discovery Radio audience. But first, you must read “Don’t Drink and Fly!” available on Amazon, Barnes and Nobel, Waterstones and all good book retailers, then contact Cathie with Title suggestions for the next book.

Cathie DeVitt

Cathie has recently embarked on a Mindfulness course which she says helps her focus and make time for herself.
” If you don’t take care of yourself how can you expect to take care of others?”
Mindfulness means waking up to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment. That might be something as simple as the feel of a bannister as we walk upstairs.
Awareness of this kind doesn’t start by trying to change or fix anything. It’s about allowing ourselves to see the present moment clearly. When we do that, it can positively change the way we see ourselves and our lives.

Born in Glasgow Scotland, Cathie’s mother says that her daughter’s first words were, “But Why?” and her second “But why not?”
Some things never change.

“I wrote and performed in my first play at primary school aged 11 years. Life took over and writing was consigned to work-related bumf the quality of which somehow stopped me from being sacked or evicted.”

“I studied at Glasgow and Strathclyde University whilst working and bringing up my two daughters alone. Oh what fun we had!Tears, tantrums, hormones and hooch. (The girls sometimes kicked off too.) The studies resulted in bits of paper that no-one ever asked to see but somehow greased the rungs of the career ladder high enough to ensure that the three of us never went hungry.

The flame of desire to write has flickered on and off but never been snuffed out. Encouraged by publication in various genres, Cathie Devitt moved on to support others by facilitating creative writing workshops. Cathie has also written and performed drama workshops in a corporate environment to showcase company policies and practices, such as Health and Safety and Equality in the workplace. Add to that writing and performing in Festival Theatre and training as a Laughter Yoga Therapist and you can see why Cathie Devitt is in a class of her own.

Cathie has very little time to dedicate to her own pleasures. Work and family commitments make sure of that. However, to release her D.I.V.A within Cathie has-

  • Trained as a laughter yoga leader
  • Performed as an actress and stand up comedian
  • Zip slid in the forest and tackled rope bridges and swings
  • Explored various countries and cultures whenever the opportunity arose
  • Loves her daughters two dogs (Lhasa Apsos) Darcy and Sparkle
  • Embraced Creative writing
  • Fell in love with a poet when she was 50!

Is always keen to try new activities – has enjoyed taster Hatha Yoga, hot stone massage and meditation while listening to Self Discovery Radio shows.

C15/32b Your Story in the Library of Life

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Joscelyn Duffy aired from August 11th on.

images (4)Words, spoken, written, thought, felt, dictate our lives, words have meaning, not just explanations; when we feel the words we speak, write and think and we open up to an understanding that lifts and empowers our lives.

Meet Joscelyn the ghost writer who can write your story and let it fly off the page in inspiration.

For as long as she has been writing and creating, Joscelyn’s purpose has been shaped by a natural ability to identify and communicate simplicity from within the complex. Her career began as a financial educator with Fortune 500 companies, where she wrote national newsletters and lead countless training sessions, guiding others to find calm during chaos. When abrupt physical debilitation and a life-threatening case of lupus struck Joscelyn at the tender age of twenty-six, she was swept away from the career and life she was new and offered the greatest contemplation time of her life. While healing and growing through illness, she discovered the truths of a reshaped life path and the ultimate purpose of her being.

Joscelyn Duffy - laughing picHer passions always laid within writing, speaking and helping others; there simply had been a voice telling her that it was meant to be for more than financial education. That little voice was right, and facing adversity first-hand provided Joscelyn with the opportunity to test every belief she had about how we each can find calm, clarity and confidence, even in the heart of chaos. What she lived is what she shares with others today, as a writer, ghostwriter and motivational speaker. Acting as a mirror, she helps others reveal their authentic voice, strength and wisdom, and fearlessly express it to the world. Her ghostwriting clients include some of the world’s top motivational speakers, a former Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and an international men’s health figure. And her gentle demeanour, practical guidance and powerful perspectives leave clients and audiences feeling more assured and hopeful as they journey through life.
