BB26-20. Nikki Mahy, Loss to Empowerment

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Nikki Mahy, on air from May 19th

I became a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) because I wanted to help people improve their financial health. At the young age of 16, I experienced a loss that forever changed my family. I watched my mum step into the role of head of our household, and in that moment, I knew I needed to have the tools to navigate life independently.  As women, we often put our own needs on the back burner while focusing on solving or fixing everyone else’s. As a financial planner, I have the privilege of listening closely to what truly matters to my clients and helping them develop a plan that builds financial confidence so they can direct their time, energy, and resources toward the areas of life that matter most to them.

Nikki began her career in financial services in 2003, working in a variety of roles that gave her a well-rounded understanding of the many challenges clients face throughout their financial journeys. It was when she moved into the wealth management division that she discovered her true calling. Nikki is deeply committed to taking the time to truly listen to and understand each client, recognizing that every person’s financial goals, needs, and life circumstances are unique. Working alongside a comprehensive team of professionals, she strives to provide objective, holistic, and client-focused solutions in areas such as investment management, retirement and tax planning, business succession, estate planning, and wealth transfer strategies.

In addition to holding the Certified Financial Planner designation, Nikki is also a Responsible Investment Specialist, reflecting her commitment to thoughtful and sustainable financial planning. Beyond her professional work, she is passionate about giving back to her community, volunteering her time with the Nanaimo & District Lacrosse Association and actively participating in the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce.

Born and raised in the beautiful Comox Valley, Nikki later relocated to Nanaimo to support her son’s dream of excelling in the sport of lacrosse. When she is not working with clients or cheering from the lacrosse field, Nikki enjoys staying active with her dog, exploring the city and the surrounding areas she is proud to now call home.
