Our Global Veterans with Sara Troy and her guest Barbara Wisman. On air from October 6th
For many veterans, returning to civilian life means losing the mission, purpose, and team that once shaped every day. At the same time, America faces another urgent battle: disappearing water, degraded soil, struggling rural communities, and a growing need to restore the land.
In this inspiring conversation, we explore the vision behind The Earth Organization’s World Restoration Trade School—a two-year, live-in program that will equip transitioning veterans with practical skills in regenerative agriculture, water resource development, soil remediation, environmental consulting, and entrepreneurship. Graduates will leave with more than a diploma; they will leave with meaningful careers and a powerful new mission: restoring the world.
With 23 years of proven environmental work behind it, this ambitious legacy project is now searching for a permanent 200-acre campus in either New Mexico or Florida. Through its Sponsor an Acre campaign, supporters can help create a lasting home where veterans become restorers—and restorers become a movement.

For over 40 years, Barbara Wiseman has led humanitarian and environmental initiatives worldwide. As Co-Founder and President of The Earth Organization, with chapters in nine countries, she champions science-based, non-political environmental solutions to some of today’s toughest challenges. Her journey began in the 1970s helping to resettle 60,000 refugees and later hosting the nationally syndicated radio program Building a Better World. In the 80’s and 90’s she headed up one of the largest private practice consulting firms in the U.S. Today, she brings that same passion for storytelling and problem-solving to global environmental action.
