Your Health is Your Choice with Sara Troy and her guest Marilyn Zink. On air September 29th
I am a nutritional coach with a background in herbalism and publishing, specifically the Herbal Collective magazine. I was trained and worked as a journalist years ago, so speaking with people and coaching comes naturally to me.
I recently completed the Menopause Specialist Coaching Course and am now certified. I am passionate about helping women who are dealing with peri-menopause symptoms, menopause or even lingering issues post-menopause. I can work with women one on one online and am planning group coaching as well. I have a 30 day plant-based menopause reset program I recently took a client through. She liked it so much we continued for another month though I went deeper into some of the topics we touched on and I also added some components

Marilyn Zink started as a journalist, first for a weekly newspaper, then worked for the daily newspaper (now defunct) Nanaimo Daily Free Press where she covered the education beat and was later a lifestyles reporter and editor’s assistant. During that time she gained ideas about publishing her own magazine and became deeply interested in herbs, as she had struggled with some health conditions and wanted to know more about how herbs worked.
When she gave birth to her son in 1993 Marcus (now 33 years old) she decided to start a home-based business and went to health food stores asking if they would be interested in supporting her publication, the Herbal Collective.
It started as a newsletter and quickly became a full magazine, which was circulated from Victoria to as far as Courtenay/Comox reaching 400 distribution points. The advertisers supported the magazine until the recession hit and Marilyn decided to stop publication for a while. Then she brought it back as a mainly online publication which now has a 4-page print newsletter that is distributed in the mid-island area.
During the 20 years the Herbal Collective was published in print, Marilyn also studied herbs and became a chartered herbalist, then also a certified reflexologist and most recently a certifed nutrition coach and just completed her certification as a Menopause Specialist Coach through the organization Girls Gone Strong. The course has a high rating and contributions from many experts in the field.
Marilyn is passionate about helping women who are struggling with menopause symptoms to live happier, healthier lives. As someone who has struggled with symptoms herself, she realizes what a difference it can make for women to get the help they need. She also educates women on herbs and supplements that can make a difference.
She has worked with a couple women and is looking to work with more women either in a one-on-one capacity or through group coaching.
She currently has a 30 day plant-based menopause reset program and is working on others as well.
She is planning some workshops in the near future on herbs, nutrition and supplements either online or in person. She is also looking to collaborate with businesses that are in the health and wellness field.
