23-23. Celebrating 10 Years of my Podcast Network.

Sara’s View of Life, with Sara Troy, on air from June 6th

Hello, I’m Sara Troy, the host of Self Discovery Wisdom. Today, I’m taking a moment to reflect on a journey that has spanned over a decade. Yes, it’s been 10 years since I started my own network, after a year of podcasting else where. This journey, unbeknownst to me at the start, has become the most meaningful and rewarding endeavor of my life.

Looking back on my 11 years in this field, I’m filled with profound gratitude. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing extraordinary individuals who’ve shared their heart-wrenching and inspiring stories of courage, resilience, strength, and self-discovery. These stories have not only illuminated the inherent magnificence of the human race but have also deepened my own self-awareness.

This journey has expanded my understanding of humanity and instilled in me the belief that we all possess the capacity for greatness, for heart, spirit, soul, and an open mind, if we choose to embrace it. The individuals I’ve had the honor of interviewing have shared their experiences with honesty, openness, and heartfelt wisdom, serving as beacons of inspiration and propelling us forward on our individual paths of self-discovery.

To all the listeners who’ve tuned in with the intention to learn and apply these teachings, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your engagement, support, and willingness to share and care have created a vibrant community that encourages us to continue bringing the enrichment wisdom that we do week after week.

As I look ahead to the future, I’m filled with excitement and a deep sense of purpose. My commitment to uplifting and enriching lives through podcasting remains unwavering. I’m eager to continue on this journey of growth, discovery, and meaningful connections, for we all gain when we rise up to a higher vibration.

The past 11 years have been filled with extraordinary interviews. The people I’ve spoken with have been willing to share their life journeys, their struggles, and their discoveries. They’ve shared their passions and convictions, and their commitment to helping others. These stories have been extraordinary, and I’m honored to have been able to share them with you.

As I embark on my 10th year running my own network, expanding into Pod-Books, I’m looking forward to bringing more collaborations with more people. I’m eager to work with others, combining our skills and expertise to create a harmonious orchestra of wisdom.

I’m only 68. Can I go to 78? Can I go to 88? I’m going to try. As long as I can still hear, see, and do, I hope to keep doing this until the end of my days. Sharing the wisdom is truly illuminating, and I hope that each podcast brings something new to your life.

Thank you for all the 10 years. I’m immensely grateful to all those who have generously contributed to our endeavors through donations. Your support is instrumental in enabling us to bring forth this valuable knowledge and create a platform for sharing wisdom.

As I look to the future, I’m filled with excitement and a deep sense of purpose. I’m committed to uplifting and enriching lives through my podcasting. Here’s to the next decade of Self Discovery Wisdom, and to all the wisdom and inspiration it will bring.

Here is to the next ten years…………

BB23-23. Successful Mindset of Miriam Villegas

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Miriam Villegas, on air from June 6th

You can go beyond what you think is possible. My daughter was born at only 27 weeks and because of the wrong medicine we also ended up with a feeding tube. Doctors were saying to prepare for long term issues however I told myself “I am not going to be a special needs mom”. I set the goal that she’ll be healthy and 4 years later we got the tube out, she is completely normal, goes to normal school and is the happiest toddler ever.

C23-23. Kathy Knopp how Art saved me.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Kathy Knopp, on air from June 6th

I have always considered myself an artist.  Ever since childhood.  I began painting at the age of 10.  My Father always encouraged my art ambition.  It was a rough beginning for me however as I was about to be put into an orphanage and my adopted Father came along and took me in …I had 4 brothers and a sister at the time that I thought were my family.  Three of my brothers were shuffled off to a place called “Boys Town” in Nebraska, which I don’t remember much only them being taken away from me.

I got into this new home with a wicked step mother who hated me and this took on a whole new scenario for me.  I read a lot and stayed to myself to stay away from her and my new adopted Father was gone a lot so art was my go to.  I was able to loose myself in my art and keep my mind going learning about the masters in impressionism.

I don’t like to keep focusing on the past, so just know that the circumstances were difficult and had to endure a lot of pain being separated from a family that wasn’t all together to begin with and a new environment of love and hate combined.  I endured and got to go to good schools and had clothes and good food to eat, but not a whole lot of enduring love except from my New Daddy who when he was around embraced my talents.

Moving forward to later details as I had spend some 10 years with this situation and after finishing high school I was accepted into a very fine art school.  My ambition was to attend the Ringling School of Art in Florida.  My Dad had friends who would have let me stay with them while I attended the school.

Well, things don’t always work out the way we want in life.  One thing was this was back in the late 60’s and things aren’t always planned back then.  My Dad lived large and had lots going on with his business and boats and cars and other priorities.  He didn’t think he was ever going to have health issues although he had diabetes and was a large man.  His wife made sure I was never to have anything, only to find this out after he suffered a massive coronary and died.

My confusion only started then.  Much has become clearer in my later years now and I was left penniless and had to find another home at the age of 18 and live with room mates I didn’t even know.  I really don’t know how I made it except I know my art kept me going.  I took classes at the local museum in my town and was working for a dentist at which I became good at.  Many things were very difficult and I knew I didn’t want to be around the women who betrayed me with hate and just did everything on my own.  My dreams were crushed at the time, I was about to lose my car my Dad sold to me which was a 65 Mustang as the credit life my Dad told me was on the car was not and she took that too.  I had to refinance my car to keep it as I had to work.

Many obstacles were put in my path.  Again my art kept me going and I worked also, sewed my own clothes and kept going.  I painted and sold any paintings so I could to make extra money on the side.

What was very devastating became a lifelong quest to make my life better.  I worked many jobs.  I ended up marrying a man like my “childhood” as all I knew and it worked out for a while, we lived in Chicago, and I kept working and attaining many different jobs with better pay each time.  We divorced after almost 9 years, and moving to Atlanta was the highlight of my life to get away from the cold tundra of the North!

There are a lot of details in between I would rather not go into as it is very painful.  The past makes us for the future, and I would prefer to hit only the highlights to be useful to others who feel they cannot go forward.   Sometimes, our disappointments turn into treasures that we cannot understand until we are older and see the path set before us.

My job experiences were aplenty, and I did attend college here and there, so my experiences helped me attain a job selling lighting for a large lighting company. This became my home and this was my family for over 23 years and I attained the highest level in lighting as a CLC, and also top 3 level in sales worked with designers, architects, builders and electricians and kept up my art along the way all the with the notion that someday I will be able to “just be an artist” and do what I love the most.

I found a man that enjoyed the same things I did, we met sailing as that was one of my fondest past times and decided to get married.  We both enjoy art as he is a fine photographer, and we both have very different opinions, but we get along and have been married now 24 years!  He helps me do what I love and continues to encourage and help me with the photo end along with his art, we are a great team working to fulfill our dreams of me with my oil painting and him with his birefringence art designs, which are quite beautiful with oil and water and digital images.

I hope this gives you something to understand my passion with the arts is my love and keeps me going.  I do believe I am here by the grace of God, and what to make sure that is understood as I love his unending love for me to keep going.

I SPOKE TO YOU IN WHISPERS

I Spoke To You In Whispers

As Shells Made The Ground Beneath Us Quake

We Both Trembled In That Crater

Toxic Muddy Bloody Lake

I Spoke To You And Pulled Your Ears

To Try And Quell Your Fearful Eye

As Bullets Whizzed Through The Raindrops

And We Watched The Men Around Us Die

I Spoke To You In Stable Tones

A Quiet Tranquil Voice

At Least I Volunteered To Fight

You Didn’t Get To Make The Choice

I Spoke To You Of Old Times

Perhaps You Went Before The Plough

And Pulled The Haycart From The Meadow

Far From Where We’re Dying Now

I Spoke To You Of Grooming

Of When The Ploughman Made You Shine

Not The Shrapnel Wounds And Bleeding Flanks

Mane Filled With Mud And Wire And Grime

I Spoke To You Of Courage

As Gas Filled The Flanders Air

Watched You Struggle In The Mud

Harness Acting Like A Snare

I Spoke To You Of Peaceful Fields

Grazing Beneath A Setting Sun

Time To Rest Your Torn And Tired Body

Your Working Day Is Done

I Spoke To You Of Promises

If From This Maelstrom I Survive

By Pen And Prose And Poetry

I’ll Keep Your Sacrifice Alive

I Spoke To You Of Legacy

For When This Hellish Time Is Through

All Those Who Hauled Or Charged Or Carried

Will Be Regarded Heroes Too

I Spoke To You In Dulcet Tones

Your Eye Told Me You Understood

As I Squeezed My Trigger To Bring You Peace

The The Only Way I Could

And I Spoke To You In Whispers……

Inspired Tenacity was born from Cathy’s desire to make these life-changing tools and strategies accessible to women everywhere. Whether you’re facing major personal milestones, levelling up your finances or exploring a new career, these programs are designed to teach you how to navigate big shifts with confidence.

Find the courage—take the leap. Bring life to your life.

She has the tools and understanding to help you to create the life you imagine and get a renewed sense of self.

In my late 40s I came to the realization that I was feeling stuck and numb, living a depressing life which had evolved over decades of living in an abusive marriage and working in a toxic environment. In 2008 my family was involved in a fatal car accident. Luckily for us, everyone in my vehicle was physically unharmed, but the shock of witnessing the sudden death of another driver was the wakeup call that sparked the massive changes I’ve created in my life since then. Life is too short and too precious to stay stuck and numb.

This new clarity set me on a path to reimagine what my life could be. Over that next year I found the strength and resources to leave my abusive marriage and take on a complete career transformation. I reassessed my experience and skills. I looked deep within to expose layers of my interests and passions. Up until that point, I had spent 25 years working in Medical Genetics. Although the fields of biology and genetics will always be passions of mine, the isolated, toxic work environment was not a good fit for me. My self reflection process had allowed me to see that my innate gifts were centred around being of service to others and building connection. I felt a calling to focus on supporting women to create a better life for themselves. Through courage and tenacity, I took on the challenge of reimagining and reinventing my life.

I have been blessed with the intuition and confidence to know that I can take on any challenge. I trust that I will figure things out. I threw my life up in the air and reinvented it on the way down, I started my life as a single mom with two teenagers, left my toxic workplace and completely changed my career from medical genetics to financial planning. My mission, as I went all-in with this change, was to create positive impact on the lives of women by supporting them in creating financial success for themselves.

The process of reimagining life involves ongoing reassessment and review. After a decade of working in the big banks and investment companies, although I had assisted many people in improving their life situation, I did not feel I was having the massive impact I felt called to create. I had supported my clients in understanding their accounts and building wealth but there were so many aspects of understanding how to create true financial success that I was not able to address in these jobs. The time limits and compliance details of this professional environment did not allow me to support people in truly understanding the critical factors in their relationships with money and the deep stories that keep so many of us stuck in our current situation in finance and in life. I knew it was time to reimagine my life again.

Now in my late 50s, I dug deeper into the process of listening to my intuition and asking myself the critical questions around my own gifts and passions. What am I capable of? What is the impact I want to have? What is the legacy I want to create? Who am I here to serve and what do they need from me?

My dedication to helping women create a life that they love has stayed strong and I began to imagine doing this on a global scale. As my abilities to connect easily with people all over the world has unfolded, I find myself building a global community of women who are keen to shift the world in a positive direction. I allowed myself to think big and step into the vision of new possibilities ahead of me. Knowing that I could not fulfill my vision while working in my role as a financial planner, I summed up the courage to take the leap into entrepreneurship. This adventure has been filled with many ups and downs, challenges and thrills, and it has given me the freedom to solidify how to bring my vision into reality.

Connect with her if you would like to become a bestselling author.
