BB24-02. Angelic Williams Swiss Army knife, business consultant.

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Angelic Williams, on air from January 9th

I’ve always struggled with my why. I thought I was destined for one path but it took so many twists and turns that I wonder now if it’s all luck or truly pre-determined to have unfolded this way. I’ve always been a bit of an odd duck. Marching to the beat of my own drum. Through my experiences and loss, I’ve realized that the sound of my drum is for the dreamers that want to make their visions a reality and how to guide them on a path to success.

Angelic (Angie) Williams, creative Swiss Army knife, business consultant, business credit builder, recovering perfectionist, and amateur comedian.

With a diverse background spanning architecture, real estate, and entrepreneurship, she’s built affordable housing, started numerous startups, worked with other startups and small businesses to build their business, exhibited at the Forbes Under 30 conference and was in ESSENCE Magazine. Currently she works to help business owners build their business credit in order to make their dreams a reality without suffocating under personal debt.

She’s most happy when she’s exploring new places, culture or food.

Angelic (pronounced as an-juh-leek) is an author, entrepreneur, startup ecosystem builder and changemaker passionate about elevating BIPOC and queer voices. Her career spans several realms, including startups, writing and architecture.

Startups | Entrepreneurship | Tech

In 2018 she founded, MyUmbrella: an online platform that serves as a creative outlet for LGBTQ+ community members. Unlike other platforms, MyUmbrella invites community members who want to share their stories the opportunity to do so by joining our Writers Cohort. Their published work reminds us that we’re not as alone as we think we may be. Angelic was honored in the May/June 2022 issue of Essence Magazine, spotlighting queer leaders.

Most recently, she was the Senior Program Manager at StartOut, a national nonprofit that supports the LGBTQ+ entrepreneurial community by providing the resources entrepreneurs need to succeed, promoting the successes of our community, and researching the economic impacts of LGBTQ+ discrimination. During her tenure, she oversaw a 200% program and expansion and facilitated hundreds of introductions and exposure opportunities to LGBTQ+ founders in the US and overseas.

Having wrestled with burnout on her own ambitious journey, she harnessed personal experiences and a vast network cultivated within the tech community. The outcome? “Toxic Ambition” – a transformative course engineered to combat burnout. Tailored for ambitious professionals, entrepreneurs, and students alike, this course delves deep into the reasons behind goal-induced burnout, the silent surrender, and the shadows of depression or anxiety. It’s more than a course – it’s your toolkit for orchestrating a life where ambition thrives in harmony.

Additionally, she was the founding lead of the Black Women Talk Tech San Francisco Chapter and was selected to exhibit at the Forbes Under 30 conference in 2018.

Writing

Angelic’s debut novel, Immersive Love, showcases her prolific and engaging writing style through a queer love story that will make you laugh, cry and keep you guessing until the end.

From 2020 – 2023 she was a founding Advisory Council member for the Cureve Foundation, an organization whose mission is to empower lesbians, queer women, trans people, and non-binary people to share our culture and stories, connect with each other, and raise visibility.

BB24-02. Carla Vaughn Financial Well-Being

Building Your Business with Sara Troy and her guest Carla Vaughn, on air from January 9th

The phrase “We are only limited by the things that we allow to limit us” highlights the power of our mindset in overcoming internal barriers like doubts and fears. Our potential for success and productivity is like a key in our pocket, representing our innate abilities and strengths. Realizing and using these strengths may require external guidance or an internal moment of clarity. Such guidance, whether from a mentor or a life experience, helps us find the courage to unlock new opportunities.

Embracing this proactive mindset transforms challenges into stepping stones, essential for personal and professional growth. It’s about seizing opportunities, taking risks, and continually growing. Ultimately, unlocking our full potential often hinges on recognizing our self-imposed limitations and having the encouragement to step beyond them, opening the door to our aspirations.

Accountant, Nonprofit Leader, Speaker & Author

After publishing my book, The Money Source, I dedicated myself full time to bringing my message to conferences around the world. Whether as a keynote speaker or a workshop leader, I break through the boundaries that are limiting your team, your attendees, or you, the leader.

I have spent over 20 years building my accounting business, Business & Financial Management Services, have managed my non-profit Financial Literacy First, have received numerous awards and accolades for speaking and business acumen. As a multi-degreed professional, my passion is small businesses.  I resonate with the both the joys and struggles, I’ve been through it and now want to share what I’ve learned with others who can benefit.

My favorite audiences to speak for are small business owners, networking groups, chambers of commerce, association meetings, and conferences with a majority of small business owners.

Newest book The Money Source helps you to focus on the things that matter most. We look at working to change your self-talk and your mindset. Be intentional on what you want in life and make it happen.

24-02. Hello 24 Be Kind to Us

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from January 9th

Well here we are, 2024, so far it has been filled with a nasty RSV virus which went through the whole family, but that is not going to hold me back, I have things to accomplish in 2024.

It was not a great start to a new year; the RSV virus rapid, my nose blocked, my chest coughing, I was tired, etc., but I have things to do, so virus, you have had your day, and it is time for me to get going.

I published my own book last year, just an e-book for now, paperback and audio coming. I have had a really nice feedback on it, and that is a nice feeling. Now time for the next book Our Forgotten Children series. I have a Authors summit to do this week, create all their authors page, and finalize the book to go to the publisher. If all goes well and no more delays, the book will be out by the end of February.

I am in two more anthology books, coming out soon, plus starting the Ask the Authors platform. So there is no time for sickness, but production. Although I know, that if I do not allow for healing, it will prolong the illness and slow me down even more.

So when we get these rude interruptions, how do we manage them? First, allow the first 24 hours of illness or chaos to reveal its self, then access what the best action is.

Step one: If ill, rest, water, sleep. If you are sick, you are not good to anyone, so look after yourself. I know it is hard when you have obligations, but delegate, postpone, and allow yourself through the?first 48 hours at least to get over the hump.

Step Two: If it is a delay, interruption or flat out crisis in your business, do not react until you have taken a breath, walked away to recalibrate, and calmed down so you can access the issue without panic. You can not think straight while in a crisis mode, so go do what you need to do so you an come back calm and clear and then you will see a solution to the problem.

Step Three: Delegate; passing something on that you cannot deal with now is ok. If there is no one to pass on to, then postpone; if people need help understanding, do you want them as clients anyway? Do not compromise yourself to please someone else.

Step Four: If it can’t be done today, there is always tomorrow. I know this all too well. Things pile up even though you thought you had paced them well, haha; a traffic jam is now on your plate, and you feel panicked about it. Could you put off what is not urgent and address what needs to be addressed right now? Then, with the next item, you will get it all done without panic and with more clarity.

These are my new year tips. it is where I am right now. A head full of cold, but projects to deal with. So I do what I can bit by bit, and allow my self to rest, recoup and renew my energy to get fully back in the game.

It is ok to say NO, To Postpone, To delegate, to redirect. If you push yourself too hard, you will accomplish nothing.

So happy New Year to everyone, may 2024 be kind to us and may we fulfill the dreams we have for this year with some ease.

QS24-01. Barb Smith Varclova’s “turning off traumatic responses”

Quantum Spirituality with Sara Troy and her guest Barb Smith Varclova, on air from January 2nd

From Dissident to Leading Pioneer: Barb Smith Varclova’s Journey Through Trauma

Recovery from Complex Trauma is possible! – after being told that have to learn to live with life debilitating diagnose at age of 17, Barb Smith Varclova started a search for solution outside of box of western medicine. Soon she found out that her physical issues are directly related to her childhood traumas, which weren’t even recognised as trauma in that time and through learning of connection between mind and body, quantum healing and many different modalities found a way to recover.  Meantime started to helping others in similar situations and struggle to get better because that even many mental health professionals often don’t understand what trauma is and that can be healed. She recognises that more people than we realise suffering from childhood trauma and their behaviours often causing trauma for their children and that we need all need to stop this cycle of trauma.
Her approach marks a paradigm shift in the treatment of CPTSD, moving away from conventional methods that merely “dilute symptoms” to a more comprehensive approach of “turning off traumatic responses,” guiding individuals toward recovery, freedom, and purposeful life.

Barb Smith Varclova’s life has been a journey marked by resilience, from growing up as a dissident in a hostile environment to becoming a leading pioneer in Complex PTSD treatment. Her story is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. Growing up was exceptionally challenging for Barb. Her family, as dissidents, were treated as traitors, outcasts, and sub-humans. In addition to the struggle for survival and dire poverty, they lived with the constant fear that any family member could be taken away at any time, never to return. Her father, a brilliant inventor and language expert, was under constant threat and control by the communist government in Prague. Barb witnessed her family being terrorized and her father arbitrarily taken by the secret police, never knowing if he would return. Their lifeline, her grandfather, who served as Deputy Minister, played a crucial role in securing her father’s release when he was on the brink of being imprisoned indefinitely. At the age of 28, a life-altering car accident almost claimed Barb’s life. Swerving to avoid a head-on collision with a truck, she suffered a near-fatal crash that broke her neck vertebra’s and shattered her spinal discs. Lacking immediate medical assistance, she was on the brink of death but was rescued in the nick of time, thanks to the nearby opening of a groundbreaking spinal hospital with innovative treatments. Despite the hardships, Barb’s determination and pursuit of a life of service helped her survive the traumas. Her journey led her to become a prominent figure in the field of trauma expertise and leadership. Her move to the UK in 2015  after she met her husband, just before changes in relationships with the European Union, marked a turning point in her life.
