C26-35. Edward J. Zinkiewicz on Retirement

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Edward J. Zinkiewicz (Ed), on air from September 1st

Ed sees his job as helping retirees meet the surprises, face the challenges, and learn the skills needed to thrive. Retirement is not just about how many cruises retirees can take or golf games they can play; it is about defining a new vision of purpose, creating a new supportive network, and learning to become as physically able as possible. Lately, Ed has been helping older retirees deal with the realities of downsizing and giving up driving.

Ed Zinkiewicz’s retirement didn’t start out well. His initial plan was to join his wife in the kind of retirement success she had; they had to invent a new path when her plan fell apart. Ed brings a practical, story-driven approach to retirement. After years of working with people to solve problems as a software engineer, Ed now helps retirees and pre-retirees understand and meet the real-life challenges that can appear after work ends: loss of purpose, loneliness, uncertainty, fears of aging, and concerns about independence. Ed focuses on your finding a new purpose, building a network of friends to combat lonelinC26-Edward J. SH26-34. Elle Nagy & Woman Reimagined.

Sisterhood of Common Sense Love with Sara Troy and her guest Elle Nagy. On air from August 25th

For most of my life, I believed that success came from working harder, achieving more, and proving my worth through what I accomplished. It wasn’t until I realised that true leadership begins within that everything changed. My work is about helping women reclaim authorship of their own lives through self-leadership;  not the kind that’s taught in boardrooms, but the kind that allows you to lead yourself with clarity, courage, integrity, and deep self-trust. I believe the quality of our lives is determined by the quality of our relationship with ourselves. When we consciously lead from within, our careers, relationships, health, and purpose naturally begin to reflect that inner alignment. My hope is that every woman leaves our conversation remembering that she already holds the wisdom she’s been searching for.
Her work integrates psychology, identity, and nervous system regulation to help women create authentic, fulfilling lives.

C26-34. Katie Eberman “The Legacy You Choose”

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Katie Eberman. On air from August 18th

After rebuilding her life following an unexpected separation, she discovered there is no single “right” path for women. Through entrepreneurship, storytelling, and resilience, she inspires women to create a life they love and a legacy that shows their children anything is possible.

After becoming a mom, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom. I kept having this pull to do more, and I started my then Virtual Assistant business with my 1 and 3 year old boys at home. In my own journey, I have had to navigate finding myself while navigating an unexpected separation from my partner of 15 years and rebuild a life that I am proud of. Through telling the stories of women entrepreneurs who inspire me, I have found courage to build a life that I love, so that I can show my kids that they can do anything that they put their mind to. My message for women is that there isn’t just one “right” path for them, and that they can choose the legacy that they leave behind.

C26-32. Michael Wood, Learn To Love Being You.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Michael Wood, on air August 11th

For most of my life, I lived with a constant noise in my head — fear, self-doubt, and the kind of quiet anxiety that turns every situation into a problem. Through years of intense internal work, meditation, education, and facing the fears I’d been running from, I found something I didn’t know existed: real, lasting peace. And once I had it, I started seeing pain everywhere — in friends, family, strangers — people who had simply normalized feeling bad. That’s why I built Learn To Love Being You: to give people the actual mechanical tools to take control of their minds, rewire the subconscious programs running them, and remember who they are underneath all the noise. My message is simple — your thoughts aren’t who you are, your pain doesn’t have to define you, and peace isn’t something you have to earn. It’s something you come back to.

C26-32. Kathleen Tonnesen -Art Beyond Sight.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Kathleen Tonnesen ie Katon. On air from August 11th

An Artist’s Search for Creative Ways to Overcome Life’s Obstacles: How Shioda Yoshinkan Aikido Helped Me See Beyond the Light

In our previous interview in 2018, Kathleen Tonnesen publicly shared her journey with vision loss—an experience she found deeply helpful. Since then, practising Shioda Yoshinkan Aikido has opened a new path in her rehabilitation and artistic development.

Kathleen believes the discipline and intense focus of Aikido have helped her retrain her right eye to read, draw, and paint again. Although this is her personal experience rather than a medical conclusion, she feels the practice may have helped her brain develop new pathways and delayed the progression of her vision loss.

Since 2023, Kathleen has continued forging a new artistic path. Her work reflects her changing vision and explores light, balance, geometry, human interaction, and connection beyond sight. Her focus is on developing skills that expand the creative boundaries of the heart and mind.

As Kathleen says, “Your life is an unfolding rose in the bouquet of God’s love.”

In this solo exhibition, Kathleen explores the felt sensations of balance, timing, posture, and geometry found within Shioda Yoshinkan Aikido. These works are presented alongside large botanical paintings celebrating colour, creativity, resilience, and the continuing evolution of her sight.

Kathleen Tonnesen, known artistically as Katon, is a Canadian self-taught painter, sculptor, author, poet, and inventor. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, she immigrated to Canada in 1998. A professional artist since 1990, Kathleen creates meaningful, thought-provoking work that enriches public spaces and connects communities.

She is also a certified Shioda Yoshinkan Aikido instructor and Shodan—first-degree black belt—currently preparing for her Nidan, or second-degree black belt, test. Drawing upon her experience in psychology, early childhood education, performing arts, visual art, and martial arts, Kathleen inspires personal growth and encourages adults to rediscover their inner child.

Following vision loss, Kathleen used the discipline and intense focus of Aikido to support her rehabilitation. Through consistent practice, she retrained her right eye to read, draw, and paint again. Since 2023, her evolving artwork has explored light, human connection, and perception beyond sight.

Kathleen’s artistic roots were inspired by the charcoal portraits of her South African grandfather, Charles Holton Peers.
