MH19-42 “Turning Poison into Medicine” with Ala Villanueva.

Self- Help/ Women’s Studies/ Memoir /Empowerment / Martial & Martial Arts on Mental Health Awareness with Sara Troy and her guest Ala Villanueva, on-air from October 15th

“Turning Poison into Medicine” – We all play roles in our lives. Some are joyous, others, burn our souls to dust. When external circumstances verge on torturous, we often lose all hope and are often forced to go inward to develop new perspectives to avoid the alternative, suicide. Writing became an outlet during one of the most turbulent times in my life and it created the therapy, clarity, and resolution I needed to emerge out of the burning forest with some skin. By utilizing Taoist detachment, losing my history and being brutally honest with myself I created a series of daily exercises that not only maintained my sanity but systemically rebuilt the personal power that had been obliterated over years of abuse.

Born and raised in New York City I was fiercely independent and totally immersed in the world of classical ballet. The arts saved me as I was institutionalized as a youth. After accomplishing my BFA, I was a globe-trotting dancer, choreographer, director and teacher living “La Vida Loca”. I became pregnant, moved to Miami and founded a non-profit arts and cultural agency which thrived for twenty years as well as nurturing thousands in the realms of the traditional Chinese arts and Buddhist dogma. This self-absorbed artist became the mother to many giving myself away until there was nothing left for me. This new persona as an author has allowed me to reclaim myself and use all the years of wisdom gained for the sake of others for my own growth and self-love. Now, as is my nature, I return the lessons to all those ready, willing and able to confront and breakthrough their egos to finally “be” what they originally were before all the conditioned fear and false living set in.

MA 19-19 “Life Without Stress is B.S.” with Susie Lala

Mental Awareness with Sara Troy and her guest Susan Perish Lala, on-air from May 7th

Stress Management is often oversimplified.

What do I mean by that? Well, controlling your own stress so that it is no longer controlling you is a lifelong process. Because “Life Without Stress is B.S.”.

It is like losing weight, you may have lost it but if you do not watch your daily habits, routines, and exercise the weight will come back on just often faster than it took you to lose it in the first place.

Stress Management is similar to weight management. If you do not pay attention to the ‘signs’ you can gain a lot of weight or get very sick.

Stress Management is an ongoing lifelong process. Different events can present with different warning signs, symptoms, etc.

C18-51 WIN Speaks for the Disabled as others are not.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Win Charles, on air from December 12th

Why Win is becoming a journalist, is to speak  for those who can’t speak for themselves.  We have fake news in the US and Win needs to speak the positive good news for the disabled as they are being made fun of or dismissed.

Born with Cerebral Palsy, Win Charles has defied the odds by becoming an author. Her memoir I, Win is an amazing story of how she remembers her life through the years of having a condition called “CP”. As a competitor in the Kona IronMan Triathlon, CEO of her own jewelry design company, and motivational speaker, Win Charles truly is an inspiration to many.

Today Win Charles tours the country, speaking to schools and institutions to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and living a full life no matter what holds you back. She is also an advocate of veterans across the world.

RGC 18-46 A FOREVER FAMILY with Rob Schear

Raising Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guest Rob Shear, on air November 13th.

ROB SCHEER Founder of Comfort Cases with Jon Sternfeld

A FOREVER FAMILY  a truly inspiring memoir by Rob Scheer, the founder of Comfort Cases, about his turbulent childhood in the foster care system and the countless obstacles and discrimination he endured in adopting his four children.

Rob Scheer never thought that he would be living the life he is now. He’s happily married to his partner and love of his life, he’s the father of four beautiful children, and he’s the founder of an organization that makes life better for thousands of children in the foster care system.

But life wasn’t always like this.

Growing up in an abusive household before his placement in foster care, Rob had all the odds stacked against him. Kicked out of his foster family’s home within weeks after turning eighteen—with a year left of high school to go—he had to resort to sleeping in his car and in public bathrooms. He suffered from drug addiction and battled with depression, never knowing when his next meal would be or where he would sleep at night. But by true perseverance, he was able to find his own path and achieve his wildest dreams.

Poignant, gripping, and inspiring, Rob’s story provides a glimpse into what it’s like to grow up in the foster care system and sheds necessary light on the children who are often treated without dignity. A courageous, candid account of life in the foster care system, his memoir is also a timely call to action.
