The Big Idea: When artists describe their creative process, they inevitably talk about being in an open mind state where the download of core creativity can happen. Musicians such as The Band’s Robbie Robertson’s description that “Creativity comes from the womb of emptiness” to James Taylor’s observation about “waiting to hear it” and having “to be in a place where you can receive the song” reveal that creativity isn’t a rational, calculated activity. It’s about allowing oneself to become receptive. 

The So-What: Mindfulness meditation takes us out of overthinking and into the mind state of receptivity. The stillness and focus involved in meditation alters our brainwaves, and therefore, our mind state. Distraction-free time leads us to an open mind. Both core creativity and intuitive wisdom and knowledge can be accessed in an open mind state — not because we have an open mind, or are trying to be open minded, but because we’re in a state of pure receptivity after giving ourselves over to emptiness.

The Marine Commandos were falsely accused of gunning down innocent Afghan civilians following the ambush. The unit’s leader, Maj. Fred Galvin, was summarily relieved of duty and his unit was booted from the combat zone. They were condemned by everyone, from the Afghan president to American generals. When Fox Company returned to America, Galvin and his captain were the targets of the first Court of Inquiry in the Marines in fifty years.

Fred Galvin served for over 26 years as a enlisted and Marine Corps officer including assignments in the infantry, reconnaissance, force reconnaissance and Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC/Marine Raiders). He led hundreds of combat missions including raids, deep reconnaissance, ship seizures, and ambush operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Gulf of Aden. The Marine Corps selected Galvin to command the first Marine Special Operations Task Force to deploy to combat. While conducting a combat mission in Afghanistan, Galvin and six other Marines were falsely accused of war crimes which led to the longest trial in Marine Corps history that led an acquittal.

Quite simply my body belongs to me and my choices are my own….not anyone else’s.

I am not anti-pro-choice, but I am anti-birthing when it is forced on someone who can not for some reason raise a child. Women who have been raped, incest, pressured into sex by a partner, or medically, emotionally, and financially can not support a child which is a lifetime commitment. Who are you to decide what is best for them?

Being a Mother is truly a wonderful experience, but it is a long one, a life time, and unless the man who got her pregnant is willing to step up with funding, support, and time to raise that child, then who are we to demand she has a child she can not take care of.

My idea is two fold, 1. NO SEX UNLESS THE MAN SIGNS A LEGAL DOCUMENT STATING THAT IF SHE GOT PREGNANT THAT HE WOULD FINANCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND PHYICIALLY BE THERE TO HELP RAISE THE CHILD AND MAKE IT MANDITORY. 2. Demand a man have a vasectomy if he wants sex without protection.

There is NO accountability for the man who got a woman pregnant, she did not get pregnant on her own, so why is he not paying the price too? Having an abortion is not easy, so many emotions and conflictions and pain involved, and yet the man has nothing to go through? If a man does not want children and enjoys sex with consenting partners, then get a vasectomy. Free sex has a price too.

Women, we are so strong, so smart, so resilient, so empowering, so capable and so not going to give in to this. So lets us rise up and create our own laws ( like no sex until sign) and show the men that they to must step up and hold some responsibility for their actions too.

We as women have worked hard to have rights to be a woman, to be seen, heard, e qualified and that we are a force to be reckoned with. Don’t not mess with our minds, bodies, hearts, souls, spirits, for you will lose. We are mighty and we are not going to stand for this intrusion into our womanly rights any more on any level no matter how big or small.

Holly Penney is a mom, finance enthusiast, speaker, writer, self-love advocate, 4-time ovum donor, travel addict, minimalist and lover of all things chocolate. Experiencing childhood trauma and then as an adult, Holly began to realize there were negative patterns in her life. One day, as she calls it a “low point,” she decided to take matters into her own hands and dive deep into personal development. This was the beginning of her healing journey. Growing self-awareness, Holly came to realize that for the first 30 years of her life, she didn’t know the meaning of self-care. After attending a retreat in 2019, Holly fell in love with herself and found a passion for journaling. Since 2019 she has made a commitment to prioritize self-care. Holly started a successful professional bookkeeping firm (NovaRidge Bookkeeping Ltd.). Being able to support people was another passion of hers. Holly decided to make it her mission to support them anyway she could. She began creating a journal (launching June 2022) in hopes of inspiring women to fall in love with themselves.
