TSM21-51 Jared Knott, the “Butterfly Effect” of Human History.

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Jared Knott, on-air from December 21st

The small things that had great historical consequences…

“Heart-stopping, compelling, and fun!” Win Blevins, New York Times Bestselling Author
How often does it happen that a single tiny mistake causes an entire civilization to collapse? More often than you think! Readers of Jared Knott’s book, Tiny Blunders/Big Disasters, will be amazed at the little things that changed history in a big way. Here are a few examples: A single document poorly designed by one single clerk in one single county changed the outcome of a presidential election and led directly to a major war. A soldier accidentally kicks a helmet off the top of a wall and causes an empire to collapse. A small mechanical device several inches long fails to function, which changes the outcome of WWII and leads to the death of millions of people. A man fails to gather his army in time to defend against an attack because of the temptation of opium and a young slave woman. And many more! Hypnotic and addictive, these well-researched, factual stories will keep you turning pages far past your bedtime. Human weakness at it very worst at critical moments. This book is the “Butterfly Effect” in human history reviewed.

C21-51 Sarah Nesbitt, Drawn on the Way.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Sarah Nisbett, on air from December 21st

Nisbett’s “Drawn on the Way” project aims to encourage people to slow down, put their phones in their pockets, and see themselves and the world as a work of art, finding the extraordinary in the day-to-day. The new book is an inspirational guide designed for busy people on the go who only have a few minutes in their day for creativity and non-screen activities.

Using just a small sketch pad and a uni-ball office pen, Sarah has created thousands of in-the-moment sketches of the people and places she passes “on the way,” often giving her sketches to the people she draws. A recent video on TikTok of her giving away a drawing to two women she sketched in a park went viral, and currently has over 1.2 million views.

Our talk will be on. Reconnecting with a post-COVID world through drawing
How sketching can build empathy and curiosity—and inspire self-acceptance
Ways to incorporate unplugged activities into your day in 5 minutes or less
Making the transition from corporate day job to full-time artist
Learning a new skill as an adult: how to be a beginner, calm the inner critic, and get away from perfectionism.

DOENJOYTHE WISDOM

A former opera singer and a self-taught live sketch artist and illustrator, Sarah Nisbett loves to draw the people, places, and things she encounters “on the way.” Her Drawn On The Way project is dedicated to helping people find the extraordinary in the everyday and to seeing themselves and others as works of art. Originally from Ann Arbor, MI, she moved to New York City to pursue music. After a successful career as professional opera singer, it was on the way to her next career in advertising that she discovered a passion for drawing on her daily commute. This daily detour led her to a full-time drawing and writing career.

C21-50 Christine Meyer. Keep It Simple, Smartypants!

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Christina Meyer, on air from December 14th

Your life is as simple or complex as you let it be. Your life is always as good as you allow it to be. Our work together is easy and life-changing.

Let’s be honest: life can feel pretty random. When things go well, it’s because you’re managing (read: controlling) them. But when one thing goes wrong, it seems like all that goes out the window.

So you try all the “right” things, like reading the self-help books, exercising, changing your diet, working harder, working smarter, having the tough conversations, and rubbing that lucky pebble in your pocket, all in hopes of pulling the right levers and lining up the stars to (fingers crossed) get the life you want.

HERE’S THE TRUTH:

There is no right or wrong way to live your life.

There’s your way!

Reality doesn’t happen to you. It happens from you. You can give up the idea that you need to (or can) control everything, and start understanding that you create everything.

C21-50 Beverly Kievman Copen is Creating Positivity.

Choose Positive Living with Sara Troy and her guest Beverly Kievman Copen, on air from December 14th

~Her Mission to Inspire you to want to Move Forward with your Life~

Does it feel impossible to fit it all in? Challenging times, like the recent pandemic, can add stress and grief to an already hectic life, raising anxiety levels. Residing in Rome, GA, Beverly Kievman Copen, is the acclaimed author of ‘It’s Your Life, Isn’t It?’. For decades, she has been inspiring people through her work as a glass ceiling shattering entrepreneur, an internationally in-demand motivational speaker, renowned photographer, and author. Her newest book offers life tools to deal with changes and difficult times.

“Making a difference begins with ‘I have an idea,'” believes Beverly, who loves helping people find solutions, clarify their values, set goals, and develop plans to make things happen even in challenging and tough times.

IT’S YOUR LIFE, ISN’T IT? tells a most remarkable story. Copen lived in Japan for three years. A year later, after she conducted a seminar in Tokyo, Japan, a young Japanese woman came up to her and said, “I like the way you think. Would you be interested in writing a book for the Japanese market with our publisher?” Copen said YES. It took more than a year to work with Diamond Publishers to think through the theme and content. She wrote it in English, and it was published in Japan in 2000, in Japanese, with the title, “IT’S YOUR LIFE, ISN’T IT.”  During the recent long months in the global pandemic, Copen re-discovered the manuscript on her computer and committed to revising it to become a “global” book. Her aim was that it could reach and help women and men in many countries.

The book paints a picture of how to look at your past, analyze your present, and reimagine your future. Whatever your age, it provides a way to assess your desires, strengths, and weaknesses and put them into a framework that will help you construct a more fulfilling lifestyle throughout your life. The theme is based on how to manage change – especially when it is outside of your control. Copen openly discusses her successes and her mistakes and the lessons learned from those achievements and the errors. Copen states, “we need to understand and deal with the New Normal for our lives.”

“I love this book! It inspired me to take a look at my own life, and it gave me the tools, energy, and new ideas I need to live my Life with more purpose, passion, and joy. The author shares her spectacular photographs and life stories that are uplifting and filled with wisdom and beauty.”
