BB 20-32 Deborah Laurel and PEER LEARNING for Entrepreneurs

Building your business with Sara Troy and her guest Deborah Laurel, on air from August 4th

A Benefit for Small Business Owners- Peer Learning Groups.
It’s lonely at the top. I know because I have a small business. Small business owners face a steep learning curve. For many, it may be the very first time they have run a business or supervised employees. If they have the time, resources and the access, they can take advantage of classes. But the need for learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. On a daily basis, small
business owners face complex new challenges that they need to address- and they may be at a loss to know what to do.

It is also very isolating at the top. There may be a kitchen cabinet of close associates who can recommend policies and procedures, but the owner has to ultimately make the decisions.
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a group of other non-competitive small business owners with whom to discuss issues, sound out options, and search out solutions? A support group where the members can speak openly and learn together?
It would have to be a group that required a brief time commitment and met no more than every other month. It would be helpful if that group followed a structured process with a focus on a timely issue. In other words, if it offered a just-in-time microlearning option to support small business owners as they navigate unknown waters.
The Peer Learning Institute has developed a Peer Learning Group program that is entirely self-directed. No facilitator is required. It targets a specific management topic.

There are two 90- minute sessions a month apart. In the intervening month, the members support each other as they put what they learned into practice. They then debrief in the next session, sharing their experience. If they like, they can continue with another topic. Bridge the isolation, make it less lonely to be a small business owner. Meet with peers in your
industry, share and learn from each other, create a supportive community, and become better at managing your business.

IG20-30 Dr. Ais Esther Archetypes of the Major Arcana

Ignite your heart and soul with Sara Troy and her guest Dr Ais Esther, on air from July 21st

I would like to talk about archetypes and how they can assist each of us on our individual soul path, but also us as communities, navigating collective themes. I have just completed a book on the Archetypes of the Major Arcana (tarot), and these are the basic characters and tendencies that we meet as we walk our human path, but archetypes are found everywhere; in social and political history, or in cultural mythology, and even, if you are very adventurous, in our galactic family.

IG20-30 David Schwerin and Know your, Joyful Soul.

Ignite your heart and soul with Sara Troy and her guest David Schwerin Ph.D, on air from July 21st

The world is in turmoil. The crisis we are living through is meant to shake us up and get our attention. What is our part in fixing things? Self-knowledge is the key. As more and more people unearth their distorted beliefs and misconceptions and then make the appropriate changes, the world will begin to change before their eyes.

We are spiritual beings having a physical experience. We need to get our priorities right and then live accordingly. Peace and harmony are only possible when we discover what motivates our behavior and release our negativities.

The road ahead may be rocky at times but the future is bright once we make the necessary changes. The Universe is helping us see what needs to be changed and motivating us do our part.

My own first experience of isolation occurred in 1942 when I was five. Our family, being British, was interned for three years as POWs of the Japanese during their WWII occupation of Shanghai. There were only three Jewish families in our high-walled, guard-gated camp. I suffered extreme loneliness, exclusion, and overt racism from kids needing little excuse to regularly shower me with pent-up hate. I learned to depend on my own resources and creativity to entertain myself during the long days in which we were free to roam around the grounds of our camp. I sketched and colored with whatever limited tools I could find, read books brought in by internees, and danced and sang to myself. I watched over babies in prams for moms doing chores. We were schooled by fellow internee teachers.

Poem on Isolation.

Every day I look outside and wonder ? should I brave it, And go to do some shopping? Or maybe I should save it for yet another week or two when the news is not so dire. Being at home alone so much, my creative mind’s on fire!I miss events and people, and the times we used to mingle but now I have to settle for the writing of a jingle! And really, isn’t that the thing that I was born to do—To be the all-round artist, the Ester that is true? So I am not complaining, but thanking lucky stars for gifts that whisk me up, away, from earthly woes to Mars. The sky’s NO limit when I’m playing piano, painting, writing—It’s all that I was born to do, what I find MOST delighting!

When writing poems and giving vent I feel my gift is heaven sent. The saying goes, “There’s none so blind”… If I may only change ONE mind Then I’ll continue on my quest, NEVER will I stop to rest! Many are now opening eyes—-they took a while to realize. The one they worshipped, idolized, was not the one they should have prized. As long as I have words that flow, I’ll vent—my hat into the rink I’ll throw! Seek the truth that sets you free—do research–not just from me! Don’t spend your life in misery because you voted abysmally. Be strong, just change, it’s not too late—your vote can change the hand of fate. If you’re honest, have heart and brain, you’ll see these leaders inflicted pain. On many of our brethren—admit it! Change your party—bravely quit it! Please don’t miss it—make a note. November—soon—they’ll count your VOTE!
