Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Anne Bethune aired April 5th/16
Anne Bethune has been living in Vancouver, BC, since she moved from Ontario in 1986 after graduating from Queen’s University in Occupational Therapy. She arrived in BC with a budding career path as an Occupational Therapist (OT) and a passion/expertise for adaptive recreation. As a young girl, Anne took on leadership roles as a camp counsellor, ski instructor, sailing instructor and leader in her school student council and athletics, including class valedictorian.
28 years ago, Anne brought with her to BC her extensive experience teaching sailing to people with disabilities in Ontario and the Caribbean, and she quickly stepped into her leadership in Vancouver, matched energy with Sam Sullivan, to hatch what is now the Disabled Sailing Association of BC at Jericho Sailing Center. At this time, Anne worked at Shaughnessy Hospital as an OT with survivors of traumatic spinal cord injury while teaching skiing at our Cypress, Grouse and Whistler Mountains. Anne combined her passion for the adaptive sport and her love of ski teaching and began her years of volunteering as an instructor for Disabled Skier Association of BC at Grouse Mountain – the roots of what we now know as Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports.
Her career shifted to working in community-based practice as an Occupational Therapist with survivors of traumatic brain injuries and complex orthopaedic injuries for 12 years followed by work with North Shore Health – Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.
Anne’s leadership and influence within the adaptive skiing world ignited quickly and she has become known as a leader not only within our local community but with our national organization CADS (Canadian Association of Disabled Skiers) as a CADS Examiner and globally with her involvements with the International Paralympic Committee as an IPC Alpine Skiing Classifier. She has been involved on many committees locally and globally in the adaptive sports world.
Anne was a proud torch bearer during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games nominated as a leader in our local community within the adaptive sport world. Anne has received many awards most recently ‘2015 British Columbia Community Achievement Award’.
In addition to Anne’s volunteer work, Anne has a successful home-based global business in the health and wellness industry with Isagenix International and has impacted the lives of thousands of people with her expertise/passion for people and health. She has solutions for Weight Loss, Energy, Performance, Healthy Ageing and Wealth Creation.
In addition to her volunteer and work activities, Anne has the proud mother of three thriving teen boys and has nurtured their passions for music, sport and outdoor recreation. Her youngest has been a singer in the BC Boys Touring Choir and passionate about outdoors/ leadership as youth camp leader, her middle son is focused on an elite level hockey path and her oldest son is a gifted singer/songwriter/guitar player.
The name Bethune may sound familiar – indeed, Anne’s descendant was Dr. Norman Bethune, the famous Canadian physician and international humanitarian – proving that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Anne is here to talk with us today about her work with adaptive sport and healthy living and how her passions truly do impact lives for the better

Positive Vibrations Roundtable with Sara Troy and her guests John Hood and Aeron Jensan aired from March 22nd on.
John Hood sent this ART to the Vatican and was accepted by His Holiness Pope Francis, confirmed by Chief of Staff Monsignor .
Every year John Hood blesses various Faith Families around the world with a gift of his depiction of Christ. In turn many faith leaders and art critics have responded with expressions of gratitude. They have also declared his art worthy of bringing to the attention of Pope Francis and the Vatican. Thus John is beginning an artistic pilgrimage nurturing the hope that a divine intervention will one day see his depiction of Christ gracing the revered corridors of the Vatican.
John likes the picture so much and His Holiness likes it as well he thought he would like to take it a little further and help humanity around the world.
During my networking I made friends with the Canadian Commander of the White Knights of Malta and this year they presented me with their Light Award. This is for ordinary people who have stepped up in a big way to help humanity.
The Commander introduced me to the Duchess de Rochefort, who has since endorsed my artwork and appointed me to her Royal Court as an Agricultural Advisor.
Then last month, I became the Recipient of the Order of the Royal House de Rochefort Original Holy Trinity, Order if Merit. This is given to people who stand up the the Environment, educating the children, and helping humanity. Other recipients are: His Holiness Pope Francis, SAS Prince Albert ll, Robert Weaver, Oprah Winfrey and Kofi Annon.
John says.” My Gardening business is now tied to my art because through Linked-in I have made a connection with a businessman in Vancouver who dehydrates food for soil adamants, but he is also able to take veggies/produce past it’s best and dehydrate those”.
We have contacted the Pattison Group of Overwaite chain President Mr. Glen Clark, and hope to hear back a good response to this project.
The Gardening Guru is in the running for the Best Green Business Award.
Distributer for CITYPOD, Impact Bioenergy, GAIA Dehydrater, Justbiofiber, Surrey Red Wigglers, Captain Recycling owner.
Having invested the last 20 years into the business of picking up junk and garbage and a service called recycling, you could say that I’ve confirmed almost everything we call ‘junk and garbage’ can be recycled.
In the past seven years my focus has been on this transition, teaching others how and what to recycle. Our service of picking up garbage that is source separated saves our customers money and is an incentive to continue to keep their hauling costs low.
I call it Captain Recycling with a catchy tag, turning your garbage into recycling.
Well before the recent by-laws that prohibit food waste going into the garbage stream, I got busy with about 150 customers; task: source separate, recycle. We did field studies of source containment for their organics and how to best give us, their hauler, their food waste. In a 20 litre pail that we re-line each time. This has worked most effectively, so far.
I calculated that in order to compost up to 1/3 of a growing client base that source separates, I would have to process between 3,000 and 5,000 lbs per month within 3 years.
Composting ‘rapidly’ became a project. How to process ‘time efficiently’ Very quickly, between 2007 and 2014 the volume increased. I knew there were mechanical options and they required research. There were no conclusions to this research other than having to buy the machines of choice and use them to compliment one another.
Next step: Develop a greenhouse operation that produces nutritious soil.
I set out to develop Vermiculture and Vermicompost with the end product of these machines. I’ve learned it’s quite a challenge and that It is quite possible that I could produce more end product than I could store. How to utilize this product most effectively is one of the biggest challenges.
So far, I have only 2 of 3 machines operational, one being a rotational drum that composts 120 lbs of macerated feedstock per day, called a CITYPOD, the other being a dehydrator that processes 100 lbs in a 9 hour cycle, called a GAIA GC 100.
What has brought me together with John is our mutual interest in finding the best use of dehydrated organics. How to replenish food gardens with a 10 – 1 soil amendment How to process 500 lbs of banana or peppers – into 50 lbs of sterilized dehydrated feedstock and send it to places around the globe that are food starved.
In closure, to best answer ‘why’ am I doing this. As a business person, hauler, I want to take this weight off my loads. I pay for weight – so there is a daily economic incentive.
Job creation. Removing food waste is an average of 40% off my dump fees. I take this savings and put it into the job creation account of composting with machines.
Reduce carbon emissions by targeting methane, 10 times the effect of carbon on global warming.
Create nutritious soil and fertilizers and dehydrated edible food – local and global markets
Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest William Whitecloud aired March 15th
WILLIAM WHITECLOUD
Founder and Chairman of Natural Success is predicated on the idea that we all have Genius, a metaphysical force within us that works outside the limitations of time and space and our rational senses to support us in living life as an expression of our highest potential. It is quite a magical notion, and therefore one that I am very comfortable with. My association with Magic goes way back. I was born in a small African country called Swaziland, where my parents were carving a 35,000-acre sugar and citrus estate out of virgin bushland. Growing up in such a wild and remote part of the world was to influence my character and personality in many ways, but the most enduring effect that time had on me came from being immersed in the supernatural worldview of the tribespeople around me. I seemed to live in an enchanted world where a host of entities and elemental forces wrestled each other for control over the fate of every living thing.
Life for me was an endless romp in the Garden of Eden until I was eight years old when I was packed off to a succession of Christian-orientated boarding schools in the colonial education system. It was forcefully impressed on me that my free-spirited nature and heathen superstitions were of no value to the socio-economic machine I was being conditioned to fit into. Ten years later I left school, cured of my innocence and wonder, and thoroughly convinced I had no choice but to find my place within the rational order of Western civilization. But my heart was never in it. I was a conscript, not a volunteer.
My first real job was working for a South African commodity trading company, where my indoctrination into the perception of capital as the prime mover behind life was sealed. In 1983 I immigrated to Australia and switched from trading physical commodities to speculating on global financial money markets. Ironically, my trading mentor in Australia was a highly successful analyst and trader given to using profoundly esoteric methods for predicting market movements. Having my eyes opened to the supernatural phenomena that held sway over these giant markets re-ignited my childhood fascination of hidden forces at play in the world.
Yet this window into the mystical nature of the universe did nothing to free me from my disillusionment with an existence that seemed designed solely to fulfill societal expectations. In quick succession I developed substance abuse problems, lost all my money, my marriage broke down, and I was diagnosed with a supposedly incurable life-threatening illness. With my life at rock bottom, my attention turned from merely observing phenomena at work outside of myself to seeking ways in which I could practically apply magic to create what I truly wanted: a life rich in health, wealth, love, and creative expression.
This search brought me into contact with the alchemical principles of Hermetic Philosophy and the ideas of Robert Fritz, founder of Technologies For Creating. Both modalities pointed to the premise that we subconsciously create our own reality and that there is a way in which we can direct the subconscious mind to create the reality we choose. As I delved into these superbly effective principles for reconnecting with and manifesting what is truly important to the human spirit, I made the most startling discovery: that the sad story I just told you about myself was just that – a story. It all really did happen, but it was simply the unfolding of a script I myself had written. Thankfully, this was not the sum total of my revelation. I also discovered that I could make up a new story, one that reflected my true potential. Watching every area of my life rapidly healing and prospering, as I applied my new understanding, confirmed to me what I had believed as a child. Life is magic.
In 1996, inspired by the momentum of my own self-transformation, I founded a program called Living From Greatness, a personalized course dedicated to empowering participants in discovering and living their authentic nature and potential. While continuing to be involved in the LFG program, and more lately the Natural Success project, I have also worked one on one with thousands of people, coaching them in bringing their dreams into reality. My twenty-year search to discern the essence of what it takes for people to connect with and live effortlessly from their creative spirit forms the basis of my two books, The Magician’s Way and The Last Shaman.
I now live in Santa Monica, California, where I devote my time to teaching Natural Success, writing books and scripts, enjoying my family and letting life unfold by magic.
William Whitecloud is the founder of Natural Success and Ryan Pinnick is the CEO of Natural Success and is based in London and he is the lead speaker for the organisation. Ryan teaches the Natural Success Foundation Training and has 5 years of experience in this unique methodology.
The Natural Success methodology is the revolutionary 5 Steps to Becoming a Genius. Natural success is all about empowering people to unleash their Genius and the highest level of consciousness. This ground-breaking methodology is based on alchemy, structural creativity, and super-consciousness.
Natural Success has a client base around the world and has been running training in the UK, Australia, USA, South Africa, and Swaziland. Natural Success is also a contributor to social projects in Africa and in particular, supporting AIDS orphans in Swaziland where their training centre is based.
