TSM24-15. Ona Gritz “Everywhere I Look”

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Ona Gritz, on air from April 9th

Ona Gritz, author of the beautifully written memoir, Everywhere I Look ? With an investigator’s determination, Gritz unravels the mystery and tragedy of the murder of her sister, Andrea Susan Gritz, also known as Angie Boggs, while sharing her own awakening to loss, grief, guilt, and the truth. Her story is testament to the idea that grief can be transformative, and that the truth can truly set us free.

On January 11, 1982, Angie Boggs was brutally murdered in her home, along with her husband, Ray, and their eleven-month-old son. She was twenty-five and pregnant with their second child. Six weeks later, Angie’s body was found, stuffed in the crawlspace of the apartment she had shared with her family and her murderers.

When Angie was just a little girl called Andra, she was the first person Ona remembers loving. Gritz was nineteen when she learned of her sister’s murder. “Well, she’s dead,” their mom announced, with a crisscross slap of her hands, later remarking: “A social worker told us years ago that, with the way Andra lived her life, she wouldn’t make it to thirty.” That made Gritz angry, but she wasn’t grief stricken either. After all, she was used to being without Angie. For many years after losing her, all she felt was numb.

When Ona Gritz was in her late forties and the only survivor of her immediate family, a succession of small events began to bring Angie back to her.  Suddenly, she was filled with questions about the disparaging view of Angie that, despite her love, she had internalized from her parents. “She’s a runaway.” Growing up, that’s what Ona would answer whenever someone asked, “Where’s your sister?” But what was Angie running from? And why did her parents keep shutting her out and sending her away?

TSM24-04. Patricia Baronowski-Schneider, they Don’t Care.

Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Patricia Baronowski-Schneider, on air from January 23rd

My story is one of resilience and a stark warning about the hidden dangers lurking beyond our borders. I share my harrowing journey not to dwell on the past, but to illuminate the present and shape a safer future for others. After a near-fatal accident and a battle with brain injury, my life took an unexpected turn when I was ensnared in an international scam that led to wrongful imprisonment abroad. The experience, though harrowing, has imparted crucial lessons about the vulnerability of even the most astute among us to sophisticated deceptions and the shocking realities of our justice system’s limitations overseas. My tale is one of survival, a testament to the human spirit’s indomitability, and a call to action for greater awareness and support for those wrongfully accused. This narrative is more than a cautionary tale; it’s a lifeline to those navigating similar ordeals and an eye-opener for the uninformed, ensuring that no one else has to endure such an ordeal alone or uninformed.

My professional arc spans over three decades, beginning in the dynamic world of Investor Relations, Public Relations, and Marketing where I built a formidable career shaping narratives for businesses across the spectrum. A near-fatal skydiving accident in 2015 marked a personal and professional turning point, leading to a traumatic brain injury that fundamentally altered my life’s trajectory. In the challenging years that followed, my resilience was tested by a sequence of manipulative scams that preyed on my compromised state, culminating in a wrongful arrest abroad and a four-year fight for justice in a foreign land.

This crucible of adversity did not define me but rather refined my purpose. Today, as an author and speaker, I’m driven to share my story — a vivid testament to survival, the importance of awareness against international scams, and the need for systemic change. My mission now extends beyond business success to advocating for the unseen victims of injustice and guiding others through the labyrinth of recovery and self-rediscovery.

TSM23-47. Mark Brodinsky & You Matter Movement.

The You Matter Movement was created to respond to what has been described as the deepest principle of human nature… the CRAVING to be appreciated. It’s not just a want, a need or a desire, like food and shelter.

THOSE ARE TANGIBLE THINGS… THIS IS LITERALLY WIRED INTO OUR DNA AS HUMANS, THE UNENDING CRAVING TO FEEL VALUED AND APPRECIATED.

The deepest principle of human nature is the CRAVING to be appreciated. It’s not just a want or desire and it’s more important to us than sex or money. That’s why I created my You Matter Movement, to positively impact the lives of a Billion people. If we can get One Billion to believe they matter, then the ripple effect will touch the lives of everyone on the planet.

The You Matter Movement is a key driver in my mission, to get a Billion people to believe they matter, on a deep level… that ripple effect can impact all 8 Billion people on the planet!

I grew up near Baltimore, Maryland and in college ended up getting an internship at a local TV station, where I became a producer and reporter, winning an Emmy Award for my efforts. After 15 years I moved on and I have been in the health insurance and life insurance business (mainly health) for 22 years.

About 13 years ago I discovered personal development and self improvement, joined a Mastermind group (just 4 of us) and began tracking and managing my goals, activities and contributions… and most importantly, my growth, as each day I strive to be the very best version of myself.

Besides the Emmy Award, I have authored two books, written the preface for another, started a Storytelling Blog called The Sunday Series, another called Storytelling for Business, felt my calling/mission to positively impact the lives of a Billion people and in doing so found my You Matter Movement and The You Matter Show podcast. I am currently working on my You Matter book, with the goal of completing it by mid-December.

I’m recently re-married and have two beautiful daughters, Sophie (23) and Emily (21). I currently live in Pikesville, Maryland.
