YH18-28 Deb’s Prescribed Drug and Opioid Addiction Story

“Your Health is Your Choice” with Sara Troy and her guest Deb Morgan, on air from July 3rd

My Opioid abuse started after I had a surgery that kept me on Pain pills for over a month. I had no idea that was going to be an issue nor had I abused them at the time.
This is part of my story and the relevance of what is happening today with the drug and Opioid crisis we are facing in the US and Other Countries.
After the Doctor took me off of them I realized I felt shaky and irritable and then somewhere In my mind I decided I needed more for whatever reason so I ended up going in with a complaint and had the doctor give me another surgery not as severe but it put me back on opioids. Again I thought I need these for this or that not realizing that my brain was telling my body what it wanted. so a little time went by I started Doctor Shopping and getting some prescriptions that way and then It downhill quickly. I started stealing the doctors prescription pads this was in 1990. I started writing and passing my own prescriptions and got to the point where I lead a double life one was being a middle class working mom with 2 children and a good job to also being a functioning addict so I thought.
I began needing more and more and I ended up taking 100 Percocet per week and my life was doing all the regular everyday things while making sure I always had over 100 Percocet to get me by and to get the money to hide this from my husband I would not eat lunch and steal clothing or whatever and take it back to the store for a return that very day. I finally must have wanted to get caught because I passed a prescription and as the story goes much longer than this I ended up facing an officer who helped me and people that I can not possibly thank including myself., but the arrest needs to be talked about and how this happened and how very angry I was and how my life changed so much as I started to find out why and finally get help before I hit bottom which for me would have been death.

LM18-22 New Lungs gives Singer Bobby Bacchus a New Life

“for the LOVE of Music” with Sara Troy and her guest Darcy Murdoch AKA Bobby Bacchus, on air from May 29th.

Bobby Bacchus, the suave crooner with the silky voice is on the scene! His nod to Frank Sinatra, Tony, Bennett, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, Elvis and others from the Rat Pack era will take you on a wonderful and nostalgic trip down memory lane and leave you wanting more.
Bobby has not one, but two CD’s under his belt: “Ten Christmas Favourites” will instantly put you in the mood for the holiday season and “Thank You, Mr. Sinatra”, his most recent, is a stunning tribute to Frank Sinatra. What’s not to love?
Darcy aka Bobby faced a life-death situation on June 1st, 2011, Darcy says “I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. (IPF)  This is a disease that affects the air sacs in your lungs called alveoli.  Essentially, they shrivel up and die off.  They cannot be rejuvenated or repaired and there is no cure.  You end up suffocating to death over time.  I was on oxygen for 2.5 years before I had a successful double lung transplant on January 30th, 2015.  Thanks to the generosity of a donor and their family I am able to lead a normal life.”
“I now make my living as a singer.  Before my TP I was able to sing but could not hang on to the long notes.  It was difficult to sing because of many coughing fits I had during the day.  But, I still carried on to the best of my ability.
I am also a Lung Ambassador for the BC Lung Association where I interview people living with Asthma. COPD, IPF and other chronic lung diseases.  They share their journey on the Lung Assn’s online newsletter.”

As an author, quit smoking facilitator and a motivational speaker, Barbara Miller delivers an inspiring message, which tells people that anything is possible and to never give up. It is a message Barbara Miller has learned from her own life and one she is helping others apply to their lives.

Barbara’s parents divorced when she was only three. Her father raised her, after having proven to the courts that he could do so without a mother’s help. Barbara’s story is one of survival, perseverance and determination. As a child, she was very quiet and observant, which led to her being mislabeled as a slow learner. This type of labelling denied Barbara access to the education system. The misdiagnosis led to segregation which, in turn, developed into daily humiliation. The school system badly scarred her and its effects stayed with her, damaging her self-esteem to such an extent that it took many years to overcome.

While Barbara was battling against seven years of chronic fatigue caused by thyroid cancer, she continued her in-home studies; book after book, year after year. Each year, while recovering from her difficult past, Barbara forged ahead with a passion to prove that anything is possible.

With persistence and determination, she reached her goal of being self-employed at the age of twenty-six by starting her own property management business. With residual income, she was able to continue devoting valuable time to her self-education. The search for something more meaningful lies at the heart of her ambition.

Barbara Miller published her first book, ‘How To Quit Smoking Even If You Don’t Want To’, in the spring of 2000, (revised in Jan 2008) which she has developed into a one-day intensive, interactive workshop.

Barbara has a great deal of passion for speaking about crucial topics such as suicide prevention and the importance of education and she intends to inspire others on overcoming barriers and obstacles. Utilizing powerful delivery and inspiring insights, Barbara’s customized presentation will teach and inspire your audience not only to quit smoking but also to dare to dream. And above all else, to “Never Give Up!”

18-13 Good Days Bad Days call it what it is.

Sara Troy on Sara’s VIEW OF LIFE SHOW, on air March 27th

It is ok to have a bad day, we can not deny it or ignore it, it is what it is. This does not mean your going backwards or you have failed at positive Living, it just means, your having  bad day. So do not deny it, but embrace it, and call it what it is without trepidation.

I know there is always someone out there saying, plough through it, you can overcome, just do it, but if you can’t you can’t and that is ok. The worst thing is not to listen to your body, your mind may chastise you, your body may try and fool you, but when you know you, you can not fool you.

There is always a reason for things, and sometimes a no reason is that something. I have health issues, they show me how far I can go in what I do, and if I do not listen then I am reminded. You see my body knows best, it knows when it is over doing it, it knows how far it can gho. My job is to listen, not fight with it, not shout and demand of it, but to trust it, for it knows what I need more than I do.

Now on a good day, I can fly, I am filled with abundant energy and it looks to the world that I can do anything, in that moment, maybe I can but the next, no, I am reminded of my limitations and that is ok. You see my good days are measured by how energetic and accomplished I am, but it can be those bad days that my art comes out, my creativity. Yes it comes out on the good days, but differently. I can even on a bad day still do my shows, for they energies me and fulfil my purpose. On a good day I can do more longer and I can take that creativity and turn it into productivity.

Some would say because it is raining it is a bad day, some would say a great day because the rain is watering our very substance. We see good and bad according to our needs, what it serving us, how it makes us feel. So your good day is someone else bad and so on and as is life.

It is the balance of life, the Yin and Yang, the good and the bad, the bad ain’t all bad and the good is not always good, but the balance is always easy to live with. So the key here, is to know you from the inside out. Are you denying yourself because you’re fooling yourself that you can’t do it, or can you not do it, because it is time to do it, or your not meant to right now. Are you measuring all your other days just by the good ones and demanding they should all be like that? then you truly are fooling yourself. There has to be both good and bad, but how bad and how good is up to you and in how you listen to yourself within. Pay attention to the signs.

So next time you have a bad day, look in and ask your body what it needs from you, rest? nurturing, sleep, or just time to just be. When that good day is here, take advantage of it and explore do, be and enjoy, DON’T SWEAT IT, IT IS LIFE, SLOW FAST, GOOD BAD, UP DOWN, IT IS JUST HOW LIFE WORKS, GO WITH THE FLOW.
