Not widely known is that John was a very successful retail security executive for over thirteen years before giving up his career to pursue acting.

John worked as “director of security” for several national retail chains, including “Circuit City” and “nationwide furniture”. John is a certified criminal interrogator, (having personally conducted over 3,000 criminal interrogations) and overseen twice that many as director.

Before her death from cancer, John’s mother encouraged him to give up his retail career and pursue acting full time.

An avid traveller, who has been fortunate enough to have visited some amazing places around the world. Having visited, South Africa (Cape Town and Johannesburg) Holland, Germany, Belguim, France, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Jamacia, Grand Cayman, Malaysia, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and every major city in the U.S.

The world is a beautiful and amazing place, filled with wonderful people, stories and culture. The more I travel the more I realize people all over the world are more alike than they are different.

P14/3a THE GUARDIAN CODE:

Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy with her guest Steve Shenk. Aired January 21/14

64315_506037012767152_995834023_nSteve Shenk was born in 1941 and grew up on a farm outside of Anoka, Minnesota. He pretty much goofed off through high school, however, managed to earn several awards as a bass-baritone soloist and was voted “most talented” in his high school graduating class. He went on to goof off for the first two years of his attendance at the University of Minnesota, evaluating 7 different declared majors before deciding he didn’t know what to do with his life. Steve then took a year off of school to get married and flounder around a little bit more, then decided to get serious about school, becoming highly incensed and motivated when, after declaring to his mother that he intended to get straight A’s for the rest of his schooling, to which she responded, saying, “It would be nice if you would get a B once in a while.” Having been thus insulted by his own matriarch, Steve did in fact go, as he puts it, “German,” (which means: “More is better, and if you can’t get it to work, get a bigger hammer”) getting straight A’s, graduating at the top of his class. He went on to complete an MBA, again at the top of his class. After having worked in several “corporate” positions, Steve went into sales work and proceeded to starve for a while until he figured out “how things worked” and eventually set some sales records that have not been broken (at least at this writing). In 1981, he got involved in the preparedness industry, and for 30+ years, has been a successful entrepreneurial innovator in marketing, packaging, and self-reliance in the storable food industry. His insights and understanding of the world and national food, agricultural, and economic issues has been the subject of talk show, interviews, and articles. There’s a quotation framed in Steve’s office from one of the many periods of starvation in his sales career, which states: “Necessity is the mother of invention. But terror is the father of true inspiration.” The lessons that Steve was forced to learn culminated in the principles described in the book, Guardian-Code-Cover-1 (3)THE GUARDIAN CODE: It’s Not Your Fault [And I Can Prove It]. The book is a life experience he felt impelled to share when he realized that, like every great truth, this Code contains secrets used in every achievement by everyone who has ever made a difference in the history of the world.

A frequent guest on talk shows, webinars, and speaking engagements, Steve feels that each of us instinctively longs to know how to take control of his or her life, not only to survive, but also to prosper, enjoy fulfilling relationships, and achieve all of our dreams in the process.

More on Sara /meet-sara-troy

P14/2a Kronos Duet a journey into the past.

Originally Aired on January 14th on Positive Living Vibrations with Sara Troy and her guest Aldous Richards.

Having traveled Europe and the U.S.fallen in love with (and in) Paris and lived in Japan, Aldous now make his home in Ontario, Canada.

167676_479769426749_534851749_6361509_2008949_nI love cats as pets, and all animals as sentient creatures. I think this is why, when asked at around age nine the name of my greatest hero, I answered “St. Francis of Assisi.” Tarzan came a close second: I kid you not. (I also harbour a crush on a hybrid historical/fantasy Joan of Arc, but did not know that at age nine: It has never done me any good.)

I believe resolutely in the sanctity of fundamental human rights, kindness, and Nature in all its life forms. My great grandmother was Native American. That, and my Welsh birth and ancestry, I consider blessings.

341b1cf98c11fb1e55977cf12c4c05946c205debWhile writing Kronos Duet I was literally saved from penury and skid row by a generous writing grant from the Arts Council of Ontario (bless all who work for her!). I now work as a free-lance editor and full time author. I have published fiction, essays, short stories, and literary criticism.

My two Masters Degrees: in English Language and Literature, and in Library Science attest, if nothing else, to my self-discipline – and perhaps to a masochistic streak.

The novel, Kronos Duet, is a novel that explores science-fiction ideas, such as a dystopian future and time travel, and even the existence of God. Equally, it is a story about two characters, a father and daughter who team up in an odyssey through time, for personal reasons. The father, Gareth Pugh, is psychically freakish and eccentric, and wants to reach the beginning of time, and God, in order to fix his personal history. The daughter, Adrianna, stays with him through thick and thin because she needs, above all, to know a sense of home and family – and her family has been fundamentally dysfunctional. These personal desires drive them both through a suspenseful, frightening and dangerous quest, in which they are pursued by murderous government agents given the mission to kill them, or get them stranded in time-space, never to return to their own time.
