Leadership, its responsibilities, and rewards.

The ability to lead is not a given right but earned through experience strength, patience, belief, value and true Character. The earned right to be a leader is in the approach of courage, understanding, and ability to speak to the issue at hand while being true to the company and co-workers and themselves. Someone who throws their weight around and dictates to others what they should do is not a leader, but a dictator.
The Leaders that you want to follow are ones who have walked the road themselves and understand the journey. They also understand the people who taught them along the way and now teach others to do the same. They must also create leaders from the people they teach.
The leader’s approach of “I am only effective if we are all on the same page for the same reason” creates innovation and collaboration in the people they lead. Being approachable, listening, and respecting and valuing the thoughts of others and then knowing decisively what to do with the collective thought, defines a leader.
For anyone to wants to follow a leader they must first have respect for them. This comes because of an” I believe in you” attitude and inspiring confidence in followers. How many employees do not live up to their worth? A leader should bring out in the individual an ability to strive beyond the surface of their potential and succeed beyond their expectations.

A positive attitude creates possibilities in everyone; everyone success is everyone’s victory.

An authentic leader’s habit is everyone else’s habits. Lead by example, stand by what you believe in, your company, your employees, your products. Be excellence and inspire excellence in everyone you work with.
A leader is popular during the good times, but what happens when bad times knock on the door? If the leader has inspired faith, respect, and loyalty in everyone in the company, then solutions will be collectively found because of the united strength and mutual benefits.
Value yourself and place value on those around you, as it speaks to the brilliance that you inspire in others. Everyone no matters what wants to be valued for whom they are and what they do, and should always be acknowledged for that.
To gain power you must first empower. Being powerful is not strength and power can lead to disruption if they need to lord over others. The strength you give is the empowerment you receive.
Leadership is a journey of life in life, in order to be called a true leader one must respect the journey and inspire followers to walk alongside of you. You as the leader step up the plate and representing your people and their interests in order for them to believe in you enough to follow you anywhere.

Gratitude; this amazing gift of being grateful to those who help in whatever way, grows beyond any expectation.
Being a true leader will mean others will want to emulate you now and long after you have gone. This truly marks your success, being remembered and respected for your value on the people you lead.
Talent, passion, need, conscience, and a personal voice is the right of everyone, and a true leader will open the door through teaching, listening, valuing and nurturing the strengths and possibilities in the people for whom they direct and guide.

Perspectives so far on 2016

imagesTake a good look at your year so far, are you walking forward in that enthusiasm you embraced the new year in? Are you still as stoked to make this year all it can be? It is so easy to get caught up in a situation of daily life and spring back into to old habits. Make sure you are walking a new path of meaningful purpose and that you are engaged with the process, for that is what gets you places, that is what has you reaching said desires.

Intent is great but action is even better even if you have to side step, do the gig or leap, make sure you’re always moving forward in the right direction   towards your desires.

A good way to remind your self is this, do you feel different? Are you feeling safe? For that means you’re not stretching your self, are you unsure of what tomorrow will ring? Good for that means your stepping on a new path. Do not be afraid of he unknown for that is where discovery is made, of self, of life and of all the possibilities that await you.

So be in check, ask your self, it this the same as yesterday or do I feel a new day coming on filled with opportunities and adventure? For if you answer yes, you are on the right path, just keep on walking.

About Jennie Lee

IMG_0165-1024x683I KNOW that it is! AND I have had my fair share of difficulties in life. That is why I write and coach using the ancient teachings of Yoga as the basis of all that I do, because they are what enabled me to find true happiness and live it every day.

Years ago my life was anything but joyful as I dealt with a rocky marriage, a colicky baby, and an impending move away from my career in Hollywood, friends, my horse and all things familiar. Depression was setting in and things weren’t looking good.

I was in a master’s program at the time studying Spiritual Psychology and practicing physical yoga for stress relief. That year, I wrote my thesis on ‘Joy Therapy’ – a plan of  action that I imagined would bring me back to happiness. It was pretty good, but I kept searching for more. I dove into the deeper teachings of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and there I found a treasure trove of directions for managing every stress life could possibly throw our way. The Yoga Sutras are the foundational text for ‘inner’ yoga practice.

True YogaExcerpt from True Yoga: Practicing with the Yoga Sutras for Happiness & Spiritual Fulfillment  by Jennie Lee

“According to yoga philosophy, enduring happiness can only come when we stop identifying with the incessant thoughts and feelings of the personality self (small s). This “I, me, mine” perspective is called the ego and it is what we normally associate with and think of as who we are. The Sutras proclaim that all of our struggles in life are because we have forgotten the truth of our being and have strayed into a belief of separation and inadequacy. Suffering will continue until we realize that our real nature is not material but spiritual and that we cannot possibly be separated from joy and peace, because they exist within our consciousness rather than in the external world.

The Sutras begin by noting that we must learn to quiet the constant fluctuations of the individual ego mind in order to experience our true Self (capital S)… Then we experience life through the consciousness of our soul, the unique expression of the Divine within. In this state we function as our human selves but see from the perspective of the true Self within. Liberated from the limitations of ego consciousness, we manifest Divine Consciousness in joy and ease here and now.”
