Am I getting old, or are manners becoming a lost art? Simple words like “please” and “thank you” seem to be fading from everyday life, and courtesy is rarely taught or practiced. Yet when someone takes a moment to say thank you, it reminds us that what we did mattered, that we are seen and appreciated.

Do you remember Carole King’s song: “You’ve got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the world all the love in your heart…”? A genuine smile can shift the energy in a room. A little courtesy, a heartfelt “please” or “thank you” can brighten someone’s day — including your own.

And now we’re plunging into the big, bustling Christmas season — when everyone (and yes, even their dogs) is out shopping. The crowds are loud, the shelves look picked over, and frustration rises fast. You’re normally patient… but the line feels endless, the clerk is overwhelmed, and that perfect gift seems to have vanished.

Breathe. Be patient. The season is meant to be joyful.
Courtesy can be contagious — let’s make sure we’re spreading the right kind.

When one person snaps, it ripples outward. But kindness ripples too. Here are some tips to help you keep your cool and your cheer this holiday season:

1?? Plan ahead — Don’t leave everything to the last minute. Spread your shopping over a few outings so you can look without pressure.
2?? Do your research — Flyers, catalogues, and online browsing can give you gift ideas before you go out.
3?? Ask for a list — Especially helpful with teens and tricky relatives. Choose something special from what they suggest.
4?? Shop smart — Avoid weekends if you can. Evenings during dinner hours are often quieter. Take break moments for a warm drink and a recharge.
5?? Give meaningfully — Consider donating in someone’s name or creating gift baskets for those in need. Include your children — it teaches giving from the heart.
6?? Gift cards count — Teens love post-Christmas sales. Add a small personal gift to show thoughtfulness.
7?? Gifts for spouses — Don’t buy household items as the gift. Choose something personal and treasured — jewellery, experiences, favourite music, cozy luxuries.
8?? Show love both ways — Practical gifts are great, but sprinkle in something playful, romantic, or fun.
9?? In-laws — When unsure, keep it classy and universal: good wine, a festive treat, an ornament, a family photo gift, or a lovely outing. Respect personal beliefs in your choices.
? Make it personal — Homemade or heartfelt gifts — writing, baking, painting, music — can mean more than anything purchased.

BUY LOCAL AND SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY

When someone says, “You shouldn’t have!”
Reply: “Of course I should — you’re worth it.”

And if you receive something you don’t love?
Say: “Thank you for thinking of me — I feel very special.”

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just the gift…
It’s the gratitude, the grace, and the love behind it that people remember.

appreciated

Thats Christmas is to me

Courtesy is one of our greatest human assets. It costs nothing, yet it carries tremendous value and is always appreciated. When someone takes the time to do something thoughtful for you this season, pause and truly acknowledge the effort — the energy, the intention, and the care behind it. Be grateful that you are the one they chose to give to.

If you can’t reciprocate with material gifts, offer your time, your attention, your kindness. Time is precious — and giving it is often the most meaningful gift of all.

Gratitude is the best response.

On Religion – to thine own Inner Faith to be True

Religious tolerance illustration

In a time where religion has become a political tool and an industry, where do we find the meaning of our faith? How is religion serving us today and why is it not only dividing us but killing us in the name of a God, why have we misconstrued its true meaning and why are we not embracing a true divine entity that unites us all?.

All we see in the news these days are headlines telling us that another priest had molested another child and that the church covered it up again. Yes, the church has real issues and problems but could it be that you are asking something so unnatural of the priest that they cannot live up to? Celibacy can lead to perversions.

We hear people are being ostracized because they are gay or choose to speak out on what they are and want if life. Religion is a control force, believe what I tell you to believe, do no thinking for yourself.

Faith is in a higher power that does not need you to hate another for living life differently, or for believing in a different faith or being another colour. Faith is love and should always be about the love.

images-19I do not belong to a church myself, as I have not yet found a church with a religion that is nurturing and looks upon people as a family, not a commodity. I look back through the centuries and see the history of religion and it terrifies me. How many wars have been in the name of religion? How many people have died in the name of religion? Even today. And why do they have to die to prove themselves to God?

I believe in a higher power, a force that is all so powerful, an energy that is invigorating, and I have a very strong faith in this higher power and respect for it, but I do not wish to name it because I believe that this power is all the positive energy in the world that we empower and pass on to each other through positive thoughts and deeds. I believe that the lives that we have lived before have left imprints on the universe and be it negative or positive, it influences the energy that we live by today. I believe that the power of positive thought can energize the world and one should always think good of one another, when we can.

All we see is a war on something, same sex, different faith, being white, black , pokadot, it is all an excuse to hate rather than love. We all want love, we all want to be loved, we all want to be here for a positive reason knowing we count, so put away your godly hate and learn to love, for we are not our sex, colour, gender, race, we are DIVINE humans here to learn how to love one another not hate in the name of a religion.

What I do not like is how society dictates what it is you should believe in, nor do I like the persecution if your beliefs are different to theirs. Look at the world right at this moment, power and greed, wars, deaths, hatred and cowardly violence all in the name of some God. Do you think that your chosen God wants this to happen? Why do you think that we should all pray the same? Who cares who your god is as long as you have faith in something and that you care for your fellow man with respect, dignity and LOVE.

9750_1151329854884479_4061222355601497431_n.jpgWe have diseases that are killing us every day and we have desperate environmental problems far bigger than the argument of whom to pray to. In the end I believe religion is used as a control factor to control those who cannot or will not take charge of their own lives and who are unable or unwilling to give to others. It is all about power and control, theirs not yours, and let us not forget about the money. Look how rich some of the churches are, they collect every week for your guilt. You will go straight to hell if you do not pay the church to forgive your sins. Forgiveness is something you have to do to yourself first and then to ask forgiveness to those you have hurt, no church can exempt you from that no matter what you pay them.

Some people receive some comfort from their religion, and in turn reach out to others to help them. This is how it should be, but none have the right to tell another whom or how to pray to, it is a personal matter. Your own conscience will guide you and should steer you in the right direction. Church in my mind should be a place to go to, and to share ones success and ones stresses. A place where you feel that the people around you genuinely care about you. If you have found this place and you feel at home there, consider yourself lucky. We all look for a place to belong, a place to share our joys and our sorrows, a place where the energy is shared and invigorates one to a new level. It never should be a place of damnation, or of paying off ones guilt. Nor a place to hide away from life rather than facing it. It should never be a place where one can decide the damnation of another’s faith or soul, no one has that right.

Take religion out of wars; allow people everywhere to pray to whom they want to. TAKE RELIGION OUT OF POLITICS, you can not guide a country if you judge those who pray differently. Stop using religion as a form of control, and look for your power to come from good not manipulation.

Faith is a powerful thing, I could not live with out it, and I do believe everyone needs it in some form or other. But none should tell you how where or whom, that must be your choice to be a true choice, or you will just be living a lie. Try talking to your God at home, try reaching inside of yourself, you will be surprised at the power that has been given to you by some higher force. Tap in and expand yourself, you have to power, it has been given to you to use with love and good will, use it well and wisely and without judgment and manipulation. Instead of paying the church, give some time, or money to someone who needs it, that is what the power of love and faith is, helping our fellow man, woman or child. This is my version of God.

Mr Presedent by Julie Renee

Mr President

Many of my students have asked me to help them adjust to the idea of our new president. this is my guidance, I hope you find it helpful.

bn-qd624_pw1007_j_20161006181224As we usher in a new age, and a new day in the US, under new leadership, there are those in our community who are perhaps sad, disappointed and confused. How could this happen? I have been asked this question many times this week. So let’s look at the bigger picture…

There is a divine order even in chaos, one of my favorite sayings is “everything is happening as it should and in Divine order, no matter how things seem to appear”.
Trust in a higher plan. I encourage you to trust and watch for the divine to work through our President elect. He may have a direct positive influence, or some of what he brings to the table is impossible and has to transform, and so as he transforms, he leads others like himself to this shift.
He wants to be an instrument for change, we can use our vision to see him ushering in good, and that light amplifies around him. Remember what we focus on expands so if you’re seeing a dork plague…that’s what his Presidential time will be. Do you want that?
More than you can know or have access to in present time. All is not how it appears on earth in the divine realms and there is reason for this particular man, Donald Trump, to be President at this time. Think about it, we are in the middle of a 95-year era change moving out of the Piscean age, which was fraught with patriarchal rule and suppression, domination, and out of balance control issues. We’re moving into an age of light, androgyny and equality. There could be great value of a vestige of the old, coming to the surfacing to be polished like a gemstone, for the entire country and world to experience in the light. Ushering out the patriarchal era he may help as he is forced to change and be a guide for others
One of the very positives about Mr. Trump is his leadership abilities and his success on a grand scale. He truly does have strong leader-like qualities even if some of his choices, comments and parts of his personality are not so good. We have all got a few foibles in our background, his are very much in the light and public, let’s see how we can pray for and envision together a wonderful coming 4 years.

Be more generous than you thought you could with your thoughts towards our President elect. Imagine he, and his Presidency will do good. Our group mind is very powerful, don’t hold him in a prison of past mistakes, but a vision of who he could be. We are going for wise, elder love wisdom in our every step, now is time to put it into practice!

Sam Hawksmoor shares with us his view on some special movies, come join the conversation with us (Sara Troy)  and Brent Marchant ON WHAT THE MOVIES ARE REALLY SAYING TO US. GO HERE

Midnight Special

midnight-specialJeff Nichols Midnight Special, is an excellent supernatural character study. A man (Michael Shannon) abducts a boy (Jaeden Lieberher), who possesses paranormal powers.  They’re pursued by members of the cult to which they belonged.  Only gradually do we realise that this is his son and he is protecting him rather than harming him. The FBI get into the act and track the boy and father with a terrible ruthlessness.  When we finally meet the mother, Kirsten Dunst we come to understand the terrible burden this family has been put under. The Cult built around the boy feels robbed, but the boy with his ability to sear you alive is unique. He needs to be with his own kind but where are they? What are they?  This is a human mystery that turns over your emotions at every turn with great performances from Shannon, Lieberher, Joel Edgerton (as Shannon’s friend), and Kirsten Dunst.  A much undeservedly neglected film

2 : Everybody Wants Some
Linklater follows up his masterpiece with a good-hearted “spiritual sequel” to his high school-set classic Dazed & Confused ). Set in the first week before college classes begin in the fall of 1980, Linklater follows a group of oddball baseball-playing freshman, as they screw up relationships and get kicked out of disco parties. It’s mostly all about just hanging around with these characters as they take their first immature steps towards adulthood. It’s got the period perfect right down to the wallpaper.  It’s simple yet profound.

4 Dr Strange

doctor-strange-8e1d44eb-9320-4861-9fce-6711eb61f614Above average Marvel movie with brilliant special effects and wit and style.  One leaves impressed not just by the magic but how skillfully they can take such a selfish prig who by learning humility (well a little) turn him into a fighter for justice.  It’s a triumph of style over substance but definitely superior to many other Marvel films of late. Cumberbatch is always fun to watch.

Miss Perigreen and her Peculiar Children is a charming whimsical piece a nice antidote to super-hero movies  – with a slightly iffy premise, but life affirming for special needs kids. Slightly jarring between the present sterile Florida that Terence Stamp lives in and the romanticized English past as they live in a permanent state of imminent destruction.  Tim Burton is all style here but that’s what we expect.

the_revenant_2015_film_posterThe Revenant won Oscars but sticks in the mind for trying to be historically accurate and not politically correct with a  stand out performance by Leonardo.  It was illuminating reminder about life as pioneers and how little respect everyone had for the lives of others and or the environment or animals.  Historical movies tends to gloss over the inconveniences of the past but perhaps we are more ready to admit to just how rapacious it all was and had very little to do with glory or justice.

st-vinyl-vol-1-front-cover_3000+ Stranger Things on Netflix was more compelling than fifty other movies in 2016 and a welcome return to our screens for Winona as the hysterical mom.  The kids were brilliant and it doesn’t matter they stole every plot from Stephen King because they were all good plots.
The Magicians likewise on TV, racy, spiteful, sexy and a brave attempt to bring the Lev Grossman’s YA books on dark magic to life.  Should have had more impact on the world Harry Potter it ain’t

Me Earl and the Dying Girl

me-and-earl-and-the-dying-girl-soundtrackCharming, cute, sad and bittersweet tale of a boy forced to befriend a girl dying of leukemia.

The little movies he makes with his best friend are hilarious and all the performances are beautifully nuanced – particularly the dying girl. Not a weepy – it’s got guts.
Best teen movie of the year.

The Nice Guys  – A Shane Black Movie

A wonderful riff between Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as they play cheap detectives and shake down artists.

Colorful but shocking to see Crowe so bloated.  Once you get past this it’s a buddy movie and everyone likes a good buddy movie.

La-La Land Directed by Damien Chazelle

Why don’t they make movies like this anymore? Oh wait they did.  Charming and life –affirming story of a struggling pianist Ryan Gosling and actress Emma Stone.  (Not yet arrived in UK but I am very keen to see it)

sing_2016_film_posterSING  – brilliant rip off of any number of Reality TV singing idol shows with singing pigs, crocs, hedgehogs, frogs. the Trailer is totally wonderful.  Can’t wait to see it.

Look forward to Bladerunner 2049
It has to be very good to top the original bleak view of humanity.  Where is my Atari now?
