Sara Troy on SARA’S VIEW OF LIFE, on air from January 29th.
We are all seeking a purpose, a reason for being here for our part to play in the journey called life. Once you find that purpose your life becomes one more of meaning, more a commitment to step up and more of your own self-discovery of how abundant you are.
This does not mean that there are not struggles going on around us, with us for life is about the struggle as that pushes us further into being someone of meaning in our own lives and that of others.
Holistic Transformation with Dianne Shaver and her guestPrashant Lingam, on air from January 29th
Each time on Holistic Transformations , I interview someone doing something that is making a difference for the better in our world. Today it is my great pleasure to talk with Prashant Lingam, who is coming to us from his home in India, who in 2008, along with Anna Kappagantula, both first generation entrepreneurs, created Bamboo House India, with an aim of utilizing bamboo as an economic driver for providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to rural and tribal communities dependent on bamboo for livelihood and at the same time utilize bamboo as a eco friendly substitute for wood , steel, iron and plastic.
Today we are discussing the team Prashant has developed of 20 people in 2008 who are designing all of what is made from the recycled plastic. What they need going forward and what their vision is for their future. By the way, they only hire villagers and will not hire anyone with a degree, because this “uneducated” team designs everything they make.
JOIN DIANNE AND PRASHANT ON THE IMPACT OF THESE HOUSES.
Through their enterprise, they are addressing many issues in his country but they are also issues that we share in other countries. This is another example of how we are all interconnected.
Because of the high volume of waste plastic in India, 26 tons a month, Prashant turned his attention to using recycled plastic as a building material. They are now making houses completely out of that material. All the roofs, walls, flooring, ceilings and even furniture is made from recycled plastic. And every day they are working on finding even more uses for the material that keeps it out of polluting rivers, oceans, landfills, etc.

“Recovering the Whole of You” with Dr Kitiboni Adderley with her guest Dr Inga Pratt, on air from January 29th
January is cervical cancer awareness month . Several of cancer is one of the cancers that are preventable. Join us as Dr Inga Pratt discuss it cervical cancer it’s causes its treatment and prevention. Dr. Pratt talks about the HPV virus and how critical it is for us to do paps smears for early detection and treatment of cervical cancer. It is exciting and informative talk.
Cervical Cancer is a leading cause of cancer in the developing world with a high incidence in women between the age of ages of 40 to 65. The pap smear, high risk HPV screening and the HPV vaccine are crucial elements that decrease cervical cancer risk. Education about these options, particularly the vaccine and the early signs of cervical cancer will decrease cervical cancer morbidity and mortality.
According to MedicalDaily.com, 30 years ago cervical cancer was among the leading cancer killers among women. But if there’s good news to be had, it’s that the death rate from cervical cancer has dropped more than 50-percent since, and is now considered “one of the most preventable types of cancer,”

Not all cancers have causes that can be traced so definitively, but in the case of cervical cancer, human papillomavirus (HPV) is usually the culprit, notes WebMD. The source stresses there are many forms of HPV virus, and not all of them can lead to cancer.
HPV is spread through intimate contact, it adds. It some cases, there may be genital warts, and in some cases no symptoms at all. In fact, “Most adults have been infected with HPV at some time,” explains the site. This is why it’s important to follow regular screening schedules to catch any signs early – there’s a pap test to detect any cell mutations, and an HPV test that looks for the virus as a root cause of cell changes.
Dr Pratt currently serves a leadership role in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Princess Margaret Hospital and at Doctors’ Hospital.
“I am responsible for women’s health in both the gravid and non-gravid state. My primary focus is disease prevention through timely screening and patient education. ”
“In a team dynamic I diagnose, investigate and treat gynaecological illnesses including abnormal uterine bleed, neoplasia and management of abnormalities of the first trimester of pregnancy. I also perform diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures.
I manage low risk and high risk obstetrics patients. In a multidisciplinary setting I institute antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum management that improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
A major part of my role is the teaching of junior staff and medical student based on the best evidence based medicine. I am also tasked with administrative roles which include the management of High Risk obstetrics at Fleming Street Clinic and the organization of morbidity and mortality meetings.

Sara Troy on Sara’s View of Life, on air from January 22nd
One has to evolve to grow. We can not rest on our laurels nor can we hope nothing changes, for it does and we must be willing to change with it.
So Self Discovery Radio has changed its name to reflect the vast broad area of growth we are in. We started out as PLV Radio (Positive Living Vibrations) then see the confusion changed it to Self Discovery Radio. Self Discovery has been a big hit, but radio limited us, I tried to add TV to it, but still it pigeoned hold us and growth is what we want, not limitations.
Self Discovery Media as we are now for known, speaks to the many channels one can have in all media arenas, and that allows us to spread our wings even further.
It is a step by step process and making sure we are sure footed, but evolving into new direction is in play and will soon be revealed.
