My love, by Annann Nijhum

My love, don’t let your skin become so thick that nothing can hurt you anymore

getting wounded is part of the experience the scars you collect are all part of your story

take off your armor and give vulnerability a chance to paint your naked form feel the sunlight on your shoulders

let the wind move through your hair give your tears a chance to be counted allow us to be swept up in your smile you see,

my love,

you weren’t born to be hidden behind a towering wall you were formed out of an ancient whisper to become a natural wonder where we all visit to listen to the songbirds sing through the pines of your evergreen beauty you were given this skin to be kissed softly –

don’t let it grow scales you were given your eyes to reflect starlight –

don’t close them to keep us from seeing your soul you were given your hands to lace inside another hand don’t keep them constantly folded in your lap my love,

I know this world can be a sharpened spear that will often pierce you

but

when given a choice bleeding is always better than apathy

someday when we meet in the moving cosmic river that exists on the crawling fringe of everything

let’s take turns washing each other’s scars while saying the same prayer over and over

“I got this wound for caring and I got this one for having an open heart but that is the cost that comes from being a work of sacred art.”

GC20-45 Please Teach Me Like I’m a Boy! with Dr. Vermelle D. Greene

Our Gifted Children with Sara Troy and her guest Dr. Vermelle D. Greene

Dr. Vermelle D. Greene, author of Please Teach Me Like I’m a Boy! Ten Steps to His Success in School and in Life. Greene is the Executive of the Boys Initiative. Boys are in crisis and continue to fall behind girls in academics and readiness for college or careers. Boys learn differently, and educators must be willing to change instructional methods to meet their learning and developmental needs.  Otherwise, many young men will continue to fail in school and, subsequently, in life.

This book sheds light on the issue through the eyes and experiences of Zachary, an eight-year-old boy who is anxiously anticipating going to the next grade. Encouraged by his parents, he writes a letter to his new teacher, asking for her help to make his next school year better than his last. While introducing the concept of brain-based gender differences, this primer offers educators more than 150 researched-based strategies and practical ideas that will help boys (and girls!) achieve more academically, socially, and morally.  The objective is to motivate teachers to explore the plethora of available resources and learn how to best educate our boys. In addition to those print -materials, teachers who are followers of Christ are encouraged to use their spiritual resources which will make an eternal difference for all the extraordinary boys like Zachary that God brings to their classes every year.

Vermelle D. Greene has been a schoolteacher and administrator for more than 45 years. She holds degrees from Dickinson College, George Washington University, and International Seminary. After retiring, she founded S.A.C.R.E.D. Life Academy for Boys, a Christian school focused on building character and accommodating the educational needs of boys. Dr. Greene is currently an educational consultant and lives in southern Maryland with her husband, Vernon. They have two married children and six amazingly beautiful grandchildren.

RG22-42 Gisèle Huff and Education

Raising our gifted children with Sara Troy and her guest Gisele Huff, on air from October 11th

Our education of our children should be our most invested commodity in any country; we are letting our youth down. Gisele Huff who was an educator for 40 years, she speaks on what needs to be changed and in how we the parents and as a community can make those changes.

Gisèle tells how she embraced the value of education, earning her PhD from Columbia University and launching a career in K–12 education that spanned decades. Her tireless work to revolutionize the school system changed the lives of countless children and gave rise to the integration of technology into the curriculum. Having worked with intellectual and political giants on both sides of the aisle, including Milton Friedman, Jeb Bush (R), former governor of FL and Bob Wise (D), former governor of WV, Gisèle repeatedly champions the idea of collaboration. It was Jeb Bush who named her the “First Lady of Blended Learning.”

However, it was her late son Gerald who introduced Gisèle to the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI), a government program in which every adult citizen receives a set amount of money regularly, with no “strings attached.” As automation replaces our workforce and the idea of technological unemployment is a not-so-distant threat to our economy, Gisèle began to recognize that the “American Dream” will not be obtainable in the future as it was for past generations. At the age of 72, Gisèle began to embrace progressive values so whole-heartedly that she is now an ardent promoter of UBI and the founder of The Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity.

She received the Thomas A. Roe Award and the iNACOL Huff Lifetime Achievement Award. She is deeply involved in raising awareness about technological unemployment and promoting universal basic income, the legacy of her late son. She is the founder of the Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity. 22-42 Guesting on a Podcast

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 11th

Podcasting is illuminating, informative, enlightening, and filled with knowledgeable wisdom that invites society to see the truth of self, and it empowers us to be so much more than we think we can be. As a Podcaster for over 10 years now, I have learned so much from my guests about myself, and how we can empower each other with our knowledgeable wisdom.

There are millions of podcasts out there today making a difference in the lives’ of others; some short and only on Facebook or Linked-in etc, instant and live. Some only on audio or just video, some like my self on both platforms. Some do not cover the details of whom they interview, some go into detail, (like myself) each to their own. BUT; there is a process of being a guest on someone’s Podcast, like turn up and turn up on time.

I offer a full package, the guests show topic details, their bio, books, all links, a headshot of them; and they are on 16 audio platforms, and 2 video platforms, plus 5 sites and may social medias. Yes, I may go over board, but I take this seriously and wish to fully represent the people I interview. All I ask is that they respect my time, my system, and bring forth the very best of them selves. I do not charge for my interviews, instead I do them via a donation, as to what they can afford if they wish to support my network. Many do not, but I made a commitment to get illuminating wisdom out to the people so we can collectively heal, grow and come together as a human race.

What ever the philosophy is around why a person has a podcast, there still needs to be some etiquette around being that guest as well as being a host. Take it seriously, paid or no pay, you are using someone’s time and energy. Do not just dismiss it as a little podcast and not turn up, or cancel at the last moment, ( that goes for hosting too) illness and unforeseen event’s aside, it is rude to not turn up or give enough time to cancel or want to reschedule, for someone else could have taken that spot instead of you.

They are giving you a platform, respect that and step up to the plate. As a host, we owe it to our guests to represent them in their best light ever. So know who is interviewing you, or who you are interviewing, what is their style, what information do they to have from you, and be there on show day, all smiles, showing the world your truth and your why, so that others can be illuminated by you.

Here are some etiquette codes of conduct.
