How I turned my scars into beautiful art and current taking my life journey and showing the world how tattoos have become more than just beautiful art now. It’s become a form of therapy. Redefining a scar of pain or abuse gives one empowerment to speak what we want out scar to represent, not giving power to what caused them.

I am a creator of so many things including 4 streetwear brands launching in 2024, currently writing my book, being featured in a book, two tattoo lifestyle shows and a leader of a tattoo women’s group called “Angel’s In Ink.” Recently exploring the podcast world and potentially doing a movie based on my life story. I have a 4 year old Frenchie who is my best friend. I recently quit my career in the service industry to drive for Lyft so I can meet new people and network my career. I am 45. Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 24th
I’ve just returned from the UK and oh, what a trip it was! There’s truly nothing like spending quality time with family. My sister and brother were incredible hosts. Every meal with my sister felt like I was dining at a posh 5-star restaurant; she has this knack for making everything so fancy. My brother, on the other hand, had a more homely touch to his dishes, but equally delightful.
You won’t believe the amount of walking I did. Probably a good thing, considering all the scrumptious meals I was indulging in. London was on my list, but I only made it there once – thanks to a train strike. But hey, that’s the UK for you, always full of surprises!
Aside from the culinary adventures, I caught up with a few cousins, took in a movie, watched a play, did some shopping (okay, maybe more than just some), and took out some well-deserved relaxation time.
All in all, it was a fantastic getaway, filled with family, fun, and food. My trip had a significant work element to it as well. My brother, the ever-diligent professor, graciously took out time from his schedule to edit my personal book. Not only that, he also went through the chapters for “Our Forgotten Children” book, which was immensely helpful.
With his invaluable input, I’m thrilled to share that my personal book is now set to release in just a few weeks! However, the journey for “Our Forgotten Children” has had its own set of challenges. Unfortunately, due to funding constraints, I’ve had to make the pragmatic decision to first release it as an eBook. Sometimes life throws curveballs and we need to adjust our strategy. So, an eBook it is, for starters. But, this is just the beginning. I’m gearing up for a campaign to launch the soft cover version as well as an audio edition.
It’s a testament to the fact that even when plans go awry, we find new ways, innovative routes to make our dreams come true. The story must be told, and it will be, one way or another!
While I was in the UK, amidst the joy and the familial bonding, the world outside was reeling. The violence between Israel and Gaza erupted, casting a shadow on the global landscape. The news was heart-wrenching, with images of destruction and the heartbreak of lost lives. Such senseless violence, with both sides trading blows, and the ones truly suffering were the innocent souls caught in the crossfire.
It’s a grim reminder that in these battles, there are no real victors. The aftermath is just more animosity, more pain, and an even deeper divide. It made me ponder, where has our compassion gone? Where is the love that binds humanity together? When did we forget the essence of understanding and healing, choosing instead to perpetuate hate?
These moments challenge our collective spirit. But they also serve as a stark reminder that it’s upon each one of us to rise above this hatred. We need to be the change, be the love, and embody the compassion this world so desperately needs. Because if not us, then who? If not now, then when? We must yearn for a world where love overpowers hate, where understanding douses the flames of animosity.
It’s a profound realization that every one of us has a choice, every single day, in what we nurture within ourselves and how we project it onto the world. We can either feed the flames of division, hatred, and misunderstanding, or we can nourish the values of compassion, kindness, and love. It’s not about picking a side, but rather choosing a perspective – a perspective that upholds the sanctity of life above all else.
Life is invaluable, and every life is a universe in its own right. We must strive to appreciate its worth, to cherish it, and to protect it. To rise above our prejudices, our misunderstandings, our differences, and to connect with the very essence of being human. To exercise common-sense in our judgments, to practice kindness even when it’s hard, and to love unconditionally, breaking the chains of hatred.
Our world needs healing, and it begins with each one of us making that conscious choice – to value life more, to be the beacon of hope, compassion, and unity. And in that choice, we find our true power, our purpose, and our path forward.

Sara’s View of Life with Sara Troy, on air from October 16th
I’ve always strived to bring awareness and wisdom to my audience in any way I can. Recently, I took some time away in the UK to be with my older siblings who have been facing significant health challenges. It had been four long years since our last meeting, and it was a much-needed reunion.
However, this hiatus had its consequences. I’ve fallen behind in the fundraising efforts for “Our Forgotten Children’s” book project, and it’s currently far from reaching the required amount for publication. We have a wonderful team of 12 authors plus me, who’ve generously shared their expertise and wisdom on improving the lives of our children. They’ve dedicated their time to sharing this invaluable knowledge.
I am committed to ensuring that these authors don’t bear the financial burden of this project, as it’s also intended to be a fundraiser for their chosen organizations supporting children’s causes. Each author will allocate their portion of the proceeds to their respective organizations, furthering the vital work they do for our children. Your support is greatly appreciated in making this vision a reality.
Are we asking too much of you the listener, the reader, the supporter? While the world is indeed facing its share of brutal conflicts and widespread poverty, endeavors like “Our Forgotten Children” are crucial because they contribute to showing a brighter future is possible. Stories and awareness like these serve as a beacon of hope and catalysts for changes so desperately needed in our children’s lives.
By addressing the way we raise our children, focusing on education, societal values, mental health support, self-value, and self-esteem, we can empower the next generation to find their purpose and place in the world. This, in turn, can reduce the cycle of discontent and anger that often leads to senseless violence and conflicts. It’s about building a world where such wars become increasingly rare, and where compassion, understanding, and peace prevail. Every effort counts in shaping this better future.
I wholeheartedly support the idea of turning “Our Forgotten Children” into a series that brings more authors and perspectives on this crucial subject. It’s a vital step toward deepening our understanding of the issues at hand and finding effective solutions. Our author’s initiative to shed light on what’s going wrong and how we can make positive changes is commendable.
However, your support is essential to making this endeavor a reality. Without the backing of individuals like you who believe in the importance of this cause, we cannot bring this book and its valuable insights to the forefront. Together, we can make a difference and contribute to a more compassionate and informed world.

Your Health is Your Choice with Sara Troy and her guest Dee Lippingwell, on air from September 25th
The Real Truth is there are over 100 known causes of liver disease that affect everyone from infants to seniors. One in 10 people will suffer from it. Liver disease is not just with Rock and Roll stars, but anyone can have it. Have you had the blood test that can save your life? Do not delay, it could be life or death.
The liver is an organ about the size of a football. It sits just under your rib cage on the right side of your abdomen. The liver is essential for digesting food and ridding your body of toxic substances.
Liver disease can be inherited (genetic). Liver problems can also be caused by a variety of factors that damage the liver, such as viruses, alcohol use and obesity.
Over time, conditions that damage the liver can lead to scarring (cirrhosis), which can lead to liver failure, a life-threatening condition. But early treatment may give the liver time to heal.
Many people have only heard of Cirrhosis which is often considered to be a form of liver disease. Cirrhosis is not a form of liver disease, it is a condition that results from permanent damage or scarring of the liver. It is the end stage of many different forms of liver disease and is known to cause a number of other health problems. You can learn more about Cirrhosis at HealthLinkBC
Some of the most frequent liver diseases are usually caused by one of these factors: Viral hepatitis (Hepatitis A, B and C)Obesity (fatty liver disease) Alcohol Genetics Autoimmune disorders of the liver Drugs and toxins Cancer
Liver disease doesn’t always cause noticeable signs and symptoms. If signs and symptoms of liver disease do occur, they may include:
Skin and eyes that appear yellowish (jaundice)
Abdominal pain and swelling
Swelling in the legs and ankles
Itchy skin
Dark urine color
Pale stool color
Chronic fatigue
Nausea or vomiting
Loss of appetite
Tendency to bruise easily
The Happy Liver Society of BC is a non-profit society focused on providing housing to support patients and their families from all over British Columbia as they need to travel to Vancouver General Hospital for a life-saving Liver Transplant. Liver transplant patients must stay in Vancouver for up to three months following their transplant for post-transplant care as an out-patient.
The Happy Liver Society opened Stacey House in September 2008 — a “home away from home” for post-operative liver transplant patients. It is located one block away from Vancouver General Hospital. Stacey House is a one-bedroom apartment that will sleep up to four people. The Happy Liver Society of BC provides for the rent and utilities of this suite.
The Happy Liver Society is raising funds to support Stacey House and to promote awareness of liver disease to the greater public. We promote immunization for Hepatitis A and B, testing of all people for Hepatitis C, and early screening and detection of liver disease in general.
Dee her self compromised her Liver, not through booze but through Idiophone
In 2022 Dee’s collection of thousands of photographs was accepted into the National Music Centre – Studio Bell – in Calgary, Alberta, where a special section will be dedicated to her vast collection of photographs for all to see. Although Dee’s work has been published all over the world since the start of her career she is definitely proud of the fact that she was a featured photographer in the best-selling “Expo Celebration Book” published in 1986. Her photographs were also a main feature of another best-selling book by Greg Potter and Red Robinson – “Backstage Vancouver”, published in 2004. She was also a substantial contributor to the “100 Years of Fun – The PNE Story”, released in 2011. Most recently Dee was part of the “Live at the Commodore” historical rendition by Aaron Chapman. In 1987 Dee published her first book of photographs called “The Best Seat In The House”… a title since used by major companies to promote their own products! This book was a collection of her best photos of rock and roll royalty to that date. She started her own publishing company (No Flash Publishing) and compiled photos and stories for her second book, “First three Sons…No Flash!” which not only highlights the famous performers that she’s shot but also deals with the behind-the-scenes, sometimes amusing, stories associated with her concert photos…it seems that everyone wants to know what it’s like backstage with the Rolling Stones! In 2021 Dee published “Memories From The Mountain”, a photographic essay depicting the 17 years (1993-2009) that she was the head photographer for the Merritt Mountain Music Festival. This was a Limited Edition printing and sold out quickly so another book was published featuring all the artists that performed over the year.
Just a sample of some of the greats Dee has captured over the years.
Their Story Matters with Sara Troy and her guest Collin Jennifer Ruiz, on air from September 25th
Collin was sent to jail for a two year sentence in place of her brother whom they could not find. The injustice of it all is enough to cripple anyone, but what she learned while in jail, changed everything about her self and instead of serving nutritional foods, she served nutrition for the soul.
The topic of my book is how I changed my perspective of prison, and how that changed my experience. We often find ourselves feeling trapped, stuck, or imprisoned. I hope that my journey empowers/inspires others to find their freedom.
My Why is for people to experience freedom in the face of the limitations and constraints life throws at them. In my book I share how I discovered my own freedom inside a Federal prison. I had a therapist who challenged me to reframe my time in prison as if I were living in a monastery. That shift in perspective made all the difference in my experience of those two years.
Collin Ruiz, MS, a nutrition consultant of Holistic Nutrition. Holistic nutrition encourages consciously eating healthy foods to promote vibrant physical and mental health, while supporting a strong immune system and preventing disease.
Collin’s approach embraces “bio-individuality”- addressing each person’s unique needs with specific and personal nutritional solutions.
Collin augments nutrition with mindfulness practices as well as health and wellness coaching. Her clients express appreciation for her constant encouragement, insightfulness, creativity, and compassion.
Clients often come to Collin to address immediate health concerns and continue to work with her to enhance wellbeing and fulfillment through the seasons, changes, and challenges of living.
